That Movie Gay #2016

Michael Bay returns and this time without a terrible Transformers effort, it's time for 13 HOURS or the longer title 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi.

So in a time of war and terrorism this film is an interesting one, it's based on the book from 2014 13 Hours and has had some criticism due to it's historical accuracy.

But is it any good? Yes and No, I am not sure why these Americans were put in such a dangerous position, nor do I understand war and why America continues to aggravate the hornets nest (so to speak) and by this I mean the Middle East and other territories.

The World will never all be like America, Christian, "conservative" and with a large emphasis on capitalism so I struggled to understand why these Americans thought it would be a good idea to go after a large civil war?

But really this is more than war, it's about what is left behind, dead Americans, dead locals, dead Ansar al-Sharia fighters and the families of these people who have to deal with the aftermath. Ansar al-Sharia formed after the civil war and support IS, they are bad dudes and wanted to destroy anything US related and unfortunately succeed with the attack this film is based on.

I hate war and hate the fact people get involved in affairs they should leave alone. I am not saying people should stand by and let countries go to shit more that if they can figure it out themselves leave it, if they ask for help, give it. Not everyone in the world will ever have the same beliefs, values and traditions and we as a coalition need to understand this.

So back to the film and away from politics, this films action scenes and final war/battle were well done and showed the ugliness of war, the script at times was heavy and felt very average. That said the film (a little over long) made me sad the world is the way it is, Michael Bay did a much better job than his last Transformers effort but there is still a way to go.

13 Hours, War really is shit but this film passes with a 3 Star rating and RIP for all involved in that terrible day back in 2012.
