Perry Mason return for its second season early March on Tuesday evenings in Australia, on Binge. Its another HBO series that gets its play on Mondays in place of the usual Sunday HBO screening. Replacing it will be The Whitehouse Plumbers a new five part mini series.
Perry Mason is Matthew Rhys, while also receiving mostly positive critical reviews, with praise going towards the cinematography, production design, and performances of its cast, particularly Rhys.
Diarra Kilpatrick (who recurred in season 1) as Clara Drake, this season has been upgraded to series regular.
Katherine Waterston, Hope Davis, Sean Astin, Tommy Dewey, Paul Raci and Jen Tullock also joined the season two cast.
It's a complete new mystery with season two, with Hope Davis as Camilla Nygaard stealing the show. Perry Mason concludes with a definite ending, while also staying open to a third season. We did wait almost 3 years for this second episode run.
HBO has had a super strong start to 2023, with The Last of Us starting the year super strong, critically and commercially while Succession has had an incredible first half of it's final run.
So does HBO with all Warner's money woes need another season of this Monday night drama? I'm not 100% sure. It is a dark, moody, jazz filled legal drama. However I don't think it's another buzz series at the heights of the previously mentioned series. With House of Dragon, Euphoria and the return of True Detective to come, HBO has a stacked dance card.
Perry Mason streams locally on Binge.
Return soon, as the Fall Finales are set to get stacked. With everything from Power to Fantasy Island, 9-1-1 (x2) to All American. There will be a lot to take in, in the next few weeks. Until then.
