Writerren and directed by Tig Terera, this fast, funny and big-hearted, Swift Street stars Tanzyn Crawford (Tiny Beautiful Things), Cliff Curtis (Avatar: The Way of Water) playing dysfunctional father-daughter duo Robert and Elsie.
The Flash vet Keiynan Lonsdale (Love, Simon) also stars alongside, Eliza Matengu (Thor: Love and Thunder), Bernie Van Tiel (Erotic Stories) and Alfred Chuol.
Set in the northern Melbourne suburbs of Preston, Brunswick and Coburg, this is a crime drama with a difference. Along with some comedy and romance in the mix of the eight short episodes.
My only criticism again of SBS On Demand is the number of gambling ads. Come on team SBS!
So what is Swift Street all about? Elsie (Tanzyn Crawford) lives with her father, Robert (Cliff Curtis) whose wife left five years earlier. Elsie works at local whitegoods store while Robert is hardly the model father.
He has also accrued a $26K debt which local crime boss The Mechanic (Eliza Matengu).
How will Robert secure the $26K?
This is a fast paced, well done local series. With Colin from Accounts returning next month, Bump season five and Black Snow returning for season two on Stan. We have a lot of good, local content right now. Not to forget recent seasons of Heartbreak High and White Fever.
