NOT another streaming Movie - Obsession

Obsession is the latest supernatural/horror film of 2026.

How ironic the week of the federal budget, we get yet (another) horror film.

In Obsession, we follow Bear (played by Michael Johnston), a music store employee who buys a supernatural toy and wishes for his childhood friend Nikki (Inde Navarrette) to fall in love with him.

Alongside Johnston & Navarrette, Cooper Tomlinson, Megan Lawless, and Andy Richter also star in this love story, turned into a nightmare! The film received critical acclaim, with praise directed towards Navarrette's performance. Currently on Rotten Tomatoes, the film is scoring in the high 90's! That's almost unheard of now, with the sheer volume of horror films landing in 2026.

I jumped multiple times. Shit got real about thirty or so minutes into the film. The film is close to tow hours but gets seriously messed up as the run time goes on.

The whole audience in the sold (peak) Friday evening session in, inner Sydney was laughing, yelling out and getting behind the film's leads.

This was a real experience. Honestly there were real moments were people yelled or laughed out loud.

Cinema was back baby. Sold out Devil Wears Prada 2, Michael and more. I got the last two tickets in the back row (similar to Mortal Kombat II last week) for this session.

It's rare now that these horror, mixed with a supernatural film, get such a good reaction.

I enjoyed this. Bring on the return of the cinema in 2026.

3.5 Stars.
