El Niño Streaming 2026 - High Country - Season Two

AKA High Country: What Lies Beneath.

Season two sees Andie (Leah Purcell) drawn into a case far more dangerous and personal than she ever imagined. It will test her loyalties and challenge everything she thought she knew about herself, her community and the High Country she calls home.

Alongside Purcell, Brendan Cowell joins as Glenn Gilmour, with, David Field as Jax Mason, Chika Ikogwe as Diane Holt, Michael Sheasby as Mitch Hamilton, Ariadne Sgouros as Stella Cross, Andrea Demetriades as Kat Pappas, Ryan Corr as Leo Pappas, plus, Nadine Garner as Lynn McKenzie.

After a couple of years off our screen, High Country is back.

Purcell plays the lead so well. It's like Mystery Road, including a spot of OG Mystery Road star, Aaron Pedersen.

Yes, another Australian detective series in a more rural setting.

Binge neglected to mention the future of the series future at their recent upfront presentation for 2027.

After giving the series a break, brining back Wentworth, possibly High Country might take another wee break.

I enjoyed most of the second season. They incorporated a lot of plot lines, outside of the main murders and crime.

Problem gambling for young men, racism, stolen generation heartbreak, along with all the PTSD that comes with being on the frontline.

This is a solid little Aussie series. I just don't know whether Binge promotes it well enough to reach a larger audience.

Like so many other local series right now, Scrublands, Black Snow, the Mystery Road franchise, Dustfall, it is a bit more crime in the regions. That said, Aussies love crime. Particularly true crime. Paramount+ pounced on the Mushroom murders miniseries for their big announcement for their 2027 programming presentation.

It was only a matter of time before more Erin Patterson hit our screens. Whilst we wait for that, both seasons of High Country stream now on Binge.
