Winter TV Finales - Rap Sh!t - Season One

Issa Rae's next chapter after Insecure has just concluded it's first season,  Rap Sh!t (pronounced "Rap Shit"). The latest HBO Max, I smashed over the cooler months. Who I am I kidding it's still fucking cold!

Hello Spring, where are you?

The eight episode, first season centres around two Miami-based rappers (portrayed by Aida Osman and KaMillion) who try to find success in the music industry. The series landed on Binge in Australia late July, concluding this Friday.

Following Mia Knight and Shawna Clark, two estranged high school friends from Miami who come back together to form a rap duo.

Similar to Insecure, each episode title of the season begins with the same phrase.

Feeling a lot like the story (and setting) of Duo Yung Miami and JT AKA City Girls, they also serve as co-executive producers with Kevin "Coach K" Lee and Pierre "P" Thomas (QC Films), and Sara Rastogi (Hoorae).

So it's no surprise the series is inspired by the story of the City Girls' founding and later success.

I enjoyed all eight easy to watch 30 minute(ish) episodes. The music (like Insecure) is loud, upbeat and wild. The setting of Miami is also a nice change from LA and New York. The heat, the wild nights, all captured across the first season.

I am really hoping with all of HBO Max's issues right now, I really hope a second season is on the cards.

Rap Sh!t, season one streams now on Binge.
