#I'mNotDavidNorMargaret, Film Reviews My Way 2015
It's been a bit of a bonanza for films and in this case Aussie films with two in two days and after never seeing the play I was happy to ALEX & EVE at Sydney's Fox Studios, AKA now the Entertainment Quarter.
This movie had loads of stereotypes between Greek Aussies and Lebanese Muslim Aussies and some fell a bit flat but over this film was completely 100% enjoyable.
Alex was a heavenly creature to look at on the screen Richard Brancatisano is pure hotness. His Instagram is fairly sexy.
So how does this play that has run a few times at the Factory Theatre become an Aussie film? Well I always believed this play sold well enough and the story is actually really sweet, both families are crazy fun, Alex's students are wonderful and Eve's slutty white friend adds to the fun and stereotyping.
At a time like now in Australia it is great seeing ethnical diversity on the big screen (and small screen with case in point the Principle) and not just the same old white casting (sorry Dressmaker but your cast was as Aussie white as you could get).
This film will not be everyone's bag but seeing all the wonderful sights of Sydney, seeing the Bridge Climb experience on the big screen was also grand and also just recognising for example Sydney Olympic Park train station was totally cute.
I have to say this is one of my favourite little rom coms in a while. Cause let's be honest some of them can be fairly fucking lame and fall flat and not to mention be completely predictable from the get go.
This was an enjoyable 90 minutes at the cinema and I would love to see more locals stories like this funded for the big screen, Alex & Eve it's cute, it's a bit of fun and there is some major eye candy in the shape of Richard Brancatisano, 4 Stars.
