#I'mNotDavidNorMargaret, Film Reviews My Way 2015
I'm a sucker for light and fluffy right at this minute and nothing is more light, fluffy and local than NOW ADD HONEY. Well actually maybe Oddball is but this is still super sweet and unlike on the stage Lucy Durack is actually not super irritating.
With the writers behind ABC hits like the Librarians and Upper Middle Class Bogan comes Now Add Honey, The latest in what feels like a long line of Aussie Cinema releases of late Now Add Honey is easily one of the most funny releases. With great writing from Robyn Butler and with some help directing from her husband Wayne Hope this is a fun Aussie family Drama/Comedy which really has some fantastic moments.
Robyn Butler is terrific as the up tight lawyer mother of two with two completely different sisters (one being Lucy Durack as above and the other Portia de Rossi (with a vile haircut BTW) and a niece from LA.
Not to mention the dreamy Robbie Magasiva (from Wentworth) is as dreamy and lush as ever. He is easily the most handsome Kiwi on Australian TV and now the big screen. He plays celebrity chef and comes in at a very interesting point of the film.
I loved this film from start to finish and loved the cast (even Hamish Blake - sorry 2DAY FM (I mean Hit 104.1) looks like him and Andy weren't really worth all that $$$) despite it almost being a who's who type Aussie film. However this has recently worked on the likes of the Dressmaker, Holding the Man (well sort of) and Oddball.
Australian cinema is in a really good place in my mind right now, lots of releases from all genres, great actors making it here and abroad, I am so proud to be a massive supporter of local talent when releases like this are just so easy to watch.
Well done to the Now add Honey film team, I enjoyed this enough to give it a bright and honey sweet 4 Stars.
