That Movie Gay #2016

What is going on right now, great movie after great movie (exception: Carol), today THE BIG SHORT.



The trailer playing in Australia cinemas before Christmas was an abortion and the marketing team that signed off on that, should be fired, now!

That said, this movie really impressed me (that of tens happens when the trailer is SUPER shithouse) so a killer cast, based on real events in the USA and a great script (laced with loads of F bombs) equals a 5 times Academy Award Nominated film.

Unfortunately they took home no Golden Globes (that said Lady Gaga did, so...) but does an award from the award season matter much? Not to me at all.

Brad Pitt, Christin Bale, Ryan Gosling, Finn Wittrock all brilliant, Steve Carell generally irritates me to no end, but in this he was ok and he has some of the only relations with female characters in this film. It is very MALE lead heavy and very MALE LEAD WHITE heavy, maybe that's why they got so many nominations at the recent Academy Award Nominations event.

All about the GFC and using lots of financial language this was a full on, fast paced wonderful ride through the fucked up shit the big banks put the US (and then Global economy) through. Sad to say nice guys always finish last and this film sums this up.

Amazing film, should win something at the Oscars, surely? And a great use of music and popular culture references throughout. Nice to see Aussie Margot Robbie get a second in the film and Selena Gomez for good measure.

The Big Short, it's the real deal, 4 solid as Stars, a great investment of one movie goers time.
