Happiest Season is one of my final films for 2020. With an all star cast Kristen Stewart, Mackenzie Davis, Alison Brie, Aubrey Plaza, Dan Levy, Mary Holland, Victor Garber and Mary Steenburgen you actually made me like a Christmas movie!
So well done Clea DuVall! DuVall has said the film is a semi-autobiographical take on her own experiences with her family.
The film in the United States ended up on Hulu, whereas here in Australia it arrived at the cinema a few weeks back.
Ok MVP in this film for me was Mary Holland as Jane, Harper (Mackenzie Davis) sister. I haven't really laughed out loud much at the cinema in a while. So this was refreshing. The Happiest Season actually made me happy and see some joy in a Christmas film.
Apparently as well a potential sequel may happen. Please do. This is one film I would totally want to see more of the main players.
Kristen Stewart still hates the world as Abby, Harper's girlfriend, however we do see a slightly softer side to her.
The Happiest Season is by no means perfect, however it is a bit of fun. If you need a laugh before the holiday madness really kicks in, check out the Happiest Season before we have to wait in Australia for it to land on a streaming service. My bet is on Stan getting this one.
Speaking of Hulu as well in this post. Praise Be! The Handmaid's Tale has been renewed for a fifth season ahead of the fourth season returning.
Happiest Season gets a solid four stars.
Happy Fri-Yay!
