Search Party started strong. I think I started season one way back in last winter's lockdown. Now in the midst of piles and piles of Autumn TV finales or new series coming in, I managed to finally finish the fifth and final season of Search Party.
Primarily set in New York City, the series follows a group of friends who become involved in the search for a missing young woman and the events that result from their involvement.
The series premiered on TBS/maybe Stan in Australia on November 21, 2016.
For the third season (2018), the series moved to WarnerMedia's HBO Max streaming service. Yep another HBO Max post!
HBO Max has produced some serious content lately. Raised by Wolves, Peacemaker, Love Life, Minx, the Flight Attendant along with And Just Like That...
The continuation of Search Party sadly saw the show spiral into crazy town. Season one and two were fun. Season three become a legal drama. Lead by the outstanding Shalita Grant as Cassidy Diamond.
Season three was still fun whilst season four saw Susan Sarandon star as Lylah. The aunt/mother of a twink kidnapper. Yep shit got weird. Season five was just plain crazy! I got through it, just. However the early days of this comedy was where the real comedy gold was.
Elliot and Portia were just wild. Dory and Drew grew to be more annoying as the five seasons played out.
The fifth and final season premiered on January 7, 2022, I have to say the early seasons kept me sane during the last (hopefully final) lockdown.
With crazy good (surprisingly talented) special guests popping up across the five seasons, Search Party was one hell of a wild ride. The entire series streams here on Stan in Australia. So if you are looking for a weird, new 30 minute sitcom/legal drama/mystery/multi genre series, Search Party may be for you.
Until next time!
