Get Outta da House Cinema 2023 - No Hard Feelings

No Hard Feelings is the latest sex comedy, however it is actually not that sexy. I know right. Although Jennifer Lawrence (who also produces) is damn sexy and pulls off this just over an hour and a half drama/comedy.

Down-on-her-luck young woman (Lawrence, imagine that for a second, Lawrence down and out, I know right!) answers a listing to date an introverted 19-year-old (Andrew Barth Feldman) in order to get him out of his shell prior to college.

There is not a huge supporting cast however Laura Benanti, Natalie Morales, and Matthew Broderick (with super awful hair) join Lawrence.

The film has received mixed reviews from critics and has grossed over $33 million, close to reaching its budget! That is a good thing in 2023.

Look after seeing so many of these "sex" comedies, there is little new ground to be covered. However Lawrence does a great job as someone in their 30's trying to connect with some in their late teens.

It's hard these days. There is a massive disconnect from us who partied without being filmed, every moment of our drunken wild nights kept for all eternity.

So with the generational gap explored, along with Lawerence really being able to play any role thrown at her, this wasn't a bad film. It just struggled with the laugh out loud moments. As they kinda never happened. That said the friendship, the growing older, while still feeling young, felt sort of fresh.

3 Stars.
