Smile 2 is gory and scary AF! Just in time for Halloween season, it's the sequel to the 2022 hit, Smile.
Written & directed by Parker Finn, the sequel stars Naomi Scott as a pop star who begins to experience a series of increasingly disturbing events as she is about to go on tour.
Starring Rosemarie DeWitt, Lukas Gage, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Peter Jacobson, Raúl Castillo, Dylan Gelula, and Ray Nicholson, as well as Kyle Gallner reprising his role as Joel, the cop BF from the OG film.
Like Smile, the film received positive reviews from critics. But what did I think?
Well I liked the music element of a tortured pop star on a hectic live touring schedule. However with the events of Liam Payne last night, the film may have had a rather rough release date. That said, this film turns up the horror and the gore from the OG film.
However the second half is rather confusing with an ending that just needs to be seen to be believed.
To be honest, this will not be everyone's cup of Halloween flavoured tea. The opening scene is hectic and extremely full on which leads to the events of the remainder of the film.
Horror is in with streaming services churning out horror shows like Binge with Teacup and new episodes of American Horror Stories and Disney+ with Grotesquerie. I need to take a look but Binge also just started streaming Hysteria! as well.
Smile 2 is violent, graphic and at times in intense. I felt shook at times, so it achieves its horror stamp. 3 Stars.
