NOT another streaming Movie - Leviticus

Leviticus is a multi genre, new Aussie feature film. Part coming-of-age/romantic, part supernatural/horror, it also ticks June Pride month boxes.

Written and directed by Adrian Chiarella, whilst starring Joe Bird, Stacy Clausen, Jeremy Blewitt, & Mia Wasikowska.

Leviticus follows two teenagers who become tormented by a violent supernatural entity, summoned by their religious community, that takes the form of the person they desire most – each other.

Leviticus premiered at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival, while gaining a local release last week.

Whilst there were genuine jump scares, this was a solid little local horror film. Following Talk to Me and Bring Her Back, Australia is getting a nasty name for itself, with horror all across this fine brown land.

I loved Talk to Me back in 2022, seeing it overseas with audiences lapping it up. I am not sure if Leviticus will gain as many overseas fans, however this short, to the point film, really packs a punch.

With religious fear and shows like Tip Toe exposing, whilst we have come far with gay rights, there are still parts of the community who have issues accepting all forms of love.

This film isn't as preachy as Tip Toe, however it does tell a good tale. The tale of young love and forces which sometimes keep that love apart.

Leviticus takes on the supernatural/horror genre, whilst also tackling coming of age, young love. Young gay love in regional (by the looks of things, we don't learn much about the setting) Australia. The film does move a little too fast in parts with some character development lacking.

I did enjoy this, 3 stars. Good to see Australian filmmakers cashing in on the horror cash cow at the box office.
