Another month of "lockdown", another month of TV highlights. Whats coming, going and where...
Well another winter is done with, so hello spring.
Well on the way now, American Horror Story is already into its 10th season. I for one am already enjoying Double Feature.
Speaking of on its way, Nine Perfect Strangers is already halfway through its miniseries run. Please Hulu don't drag out a second season. As much as I like it, I will like a certain ending to the story at the end of the eight episodes.
Riverdale is almost coming to an end for its very strange fifth season. The sixth season will return later this year.
Still on The CW Dynasty will also come into its final few episodes. The series has run almost uninterrupted since it commenced airing on May 7th.
Money Heist lands on Netflix this month for the first part of its final ten episode run. The second half will return in December.
Apple TV+ has loads on currently. Mr Corman is actually really interesting. Joesph Gordon-Levitt is outstanding as usual. See and Apple TV+ favourite Ted Lasso are also back for second seasons.
Billions returns on Stan for the last five episodes of its very delayed fifth season. Good news a sixth season has already been approved.
Animal Kingdom will wrap up its dull AF fifth (and should be final season) early next month. This series has honestly been a red hot mess.
Power Book III is chugging along on Stan too. The Power franchise is proving to be very popular. Along with this franchise Stan also has Heels now playing.
Legends of Tomorrow closes its completely bat shit crazy fifth season next Monday. The sixth and hopefully final season returns next month. Along with Batwoman. It will air midweek next season in place of Sunday up against super premium HBO, Showtime, Starz programs. Network TV need to move out, in the USA their dramas have really become B, C and D grade productions at best.
Evil also returns on Paramount+ (yes another streaming service) for the second half of its second season. If you're a fan the series has already been renewed for the third season.
Joining Legends of Tomorrow, The Republic of Sarah also wraps its first season run on Stan on Tuesday evening. The show is not super likely to get a second season. However the show is a much stronger, more original, intelligent drama currently airing on The CW. Series like Legends, The Flash, Riverdale lost there funk years ago.
Reservation Dogs is also closing in on its finale too. The series on Binge has been a refreshing new, original thirty (odd) minute comedy.
American Crime Story joins American Horror Story on our screens again. This time focusing on the Clinton presidency. I for one am VERY excited for this series to air.
Another new HBO miniseries is on the way. Scenes From a Marriage. It looks intense, it could join a long list of killer HBO miniseries in 2021. Mare of Easttown, The White Lotus (well technically a series now) and The Undoing.
The Walking Dead has also entered its very long final season. Correction, final for everyone except for Daryl and Carol that get a spin off. Or is it just like Power with a new show name and two characters viewers are familiar with.
Week commencing the 20 September (well for now) the USA five major networks are back with their series returning for the 2021/2022 season. However with Delta on the rampage, who knows. Get those shows filmed and in the can folks!
9-1-1 returns to FOX for a fifth run. The show is a powerhouse for FOX. Finishing the 2020/2021 TV season as the 11th most popular series. We have no cliffhangers to resolve, however as keeping with tradition, a new major drama will happen in the early episodes of the season.
Dear White People also returns for its fourth and final season towards the end on this month on Netflix. I have loved this show. The series I believe (unlike shows mentioned above Legends etc) is calling it a day on a high. Not like Animal Kingdom just dragging on for no other reason than filling a content hole.
Rounding out September (well just squeezing in on the 30th) Big Sky returns for it's second season whilst Station 19 is back for it's fifth. Big Sky could have been a miniseries first up. The first half of the first season was great, gritty network TV. The second half was a little average. I am hoping the second season is of a higher quality. Station 19 dealt with a lot last season. COVID, BLM as well as it's ongoing issues it looks at.
So September is busy. That is not even looking into Australian TV where we will see The Masked Singer return for season three, Wentworth get closer to it's Final Sentence and Channel Seven has a new Aussie drama RFDS.
