Summer Slack Streaming - Uncoupled - Season One

So there is one more Summer Slack Streaming coming tomorrow (or Saturday) TBA then we move onto Autumn. I promise.

I somehow managed to binge through, Uncoupled. It's like a gay Emily in Paris, set in New York, not Paris.

Maybe that's because it's also created and written by Darren Star.

I somehow missed this and on Netflix last July.

The series was featured in the Netflix "Top 10" list at number six for one week.

In January, it was announced the show would not be renewed for a second season, however in February 2023, Showtime (owned by Paramount) picked up the series for a second season. And Showtime has cancelled a shit tonne of shows of late. Like a lot!

Uncoupled stars Neil Patrick Harris as a newly single gay Manhattanite navigating the dating scene for the first time in 17 years after getting abruptly dumped by his long-term partner.

As he adjusts to being single in his late 40s, he discovers that the gay dating environment has changed while he was in a relationship, and he rapidly realises that in order to not be single forever, he must take action. To be honest it was a little too close to home to my relationship breakdown two years ago.

However for the most part, the series was fun.

Tisha Campbell as Suzanne Prentiss, really steals the show. Her one liners are classic! I am looking forward to seeing where season two takes her.

Its been close to a year, but if you were late to the Uncoupled party like me there are some spoilers around episode eight below.

In the first season (and final on Netflix) The Jonathans are getting married!

The day is finally here, Michael has Suzanne come over and help him cover up his bruises with makeup. They arrive at the party and Michael tries to preempt the awkwardness by approaching Colin. He mistakenly thinks a random stranger is Colin's new boyfriend when he actually went alone.

To Michael's surprise, he does not feel much animosity towards Colin anymore and they even dance together. Michael leaves the party and arrives at his house only to find Colin waiting, telling him he may have made a mistake.

So it left on a cliffhanger so a renewal leaves us with Colin (Tuc Watkins) mistake being uncovered.

I also look forward to seeing more Marcia Gay Harden as Claire Lewis, in the second run. When that will land on the new Showtime/Paramount new channel/streaming thing soon.

So its almost time to say goodbye Summer, hello Autumn. Until then later dear reader!
