Film Influencer 2025 - Babygirl

Babygirl just landed at the cinemas, gaining much discussion around the subject matter/Nicole Kidman's performance. It gives Saltburn vibes with some seriously good tunes too.

Dancing on My Own, the OG version from Robyn, Aussie classic, Never Tear Us Apart by INXS, an erotic scene to Father Figure by George Michael and the inclusion of indie fav Deceptacon by Le Tigre, made for a solid backing soundtrack.

The erotic thriller film written, directed, and produced by Halina Reijn. This also comes from hit movie studio, A24.

The film stars Aussie, Nicole Kidman as a high-powered CEO who puts her career and family on the line when she begins an affair with a much younger intern (Harris Dickinson).

Fellow Aussie and Talk to Me star, Sophie Wilde and Antonio Banderas returns to the big screen as Kidman's husband.

Babygirl premiered at the 81st Venice International Film Festival last August, where Kidman won the Volpi Cup for Best Actress.

Babygirl was named one of the top ten films of 2024 by the National Board of Review, where Kidman was also awarded the Best Actress prize.

This got serious audience reaction throughout the raunchy, close to 2 hour romp. There was laughter, gasps and a lot of toilet breaks for a near sold out Friday evening session.

I was interested to see where this film was headed. What the climax (so to speak would be) would amount to. But it never really got to a satisfying end. Except Kidman's final scene in her office giving it to a coworker.

I am not sure whether this will create the storm, Saltburn did a few years back. However it was an interesting watch.

3 Stars. Kidman has given another Eyes Wide Shut performance. This time less Tom Cruise.
