Music Update Version 2.0

Well it's been a bit of a draught in regards to movies and shows however music wise it's been HUGE.

The hype is building for the new Coldplay disc and you can still download their new single "Violet Hill" for free at http://www.coldplay.com

Gnarls Barkley, Santogold, Laura Marling, Martha Wainwright, Tricky and The Roots are leading the pack with hot new releases and tracks that would definitely burn up the dance floor.

The big new hype for the year MGMT are really rocking it with their debut album featuring great tracks like "Kids" & "Time to Pretend". The Ting Tings are also the ultimate cool indie band right night with hits like "Great DJ" even being played on commercial radio. Their hit "It's Not My Name" went straight to number one in the UK betting that silly Umbrella bitch - ella ella.

Nine Inch Nails have decided to drop another album, this time of free of charge courtesy of their website and CSS & the Dandy Warhol's are also allowing fans to download their latest singles for nix of their websites.

The Offspring, Alanis Morrisette and Shihad are also making come backs in the coming months.

Now I was extremely unlucky enough to be in a taxi for one hour hour this last Tuesday morning and I had the unlucky fortune of hearing the Kyle and Jackie Ho show. Well with three songs in the hour and more ad's you can poke a stick at, I was just so happy to have the option of a radio dial on my work and home stereo. Their show is nothing more than a cross promotion between their failing attempt to host BB and promote nearly anything they can get their hands on.

The over produced and lack of content hour was a real eye opener, if this is what most Sydney siders are listening to, I am beginning to feel like an outcast or at least someone who has half a brain.

So if you are feeling like you need some zone out time tune into 2Gay Fm 104.1 Yesterday's worst music between 6-9am.

I know I'll be sticking to Robbie, Marieke and the Doctor on the J's at least they play (shock, horror) two songs in a row and ask more intelligent questions that a chimp.

Finally in my music wrap up a music lover's must some lists:

Top 5 Comeback's in 2008:

1. The Offspring (They are no longer pretty fly for a white guy)
2. Alanis (Madonna's original signing and still a nice powerful voice)

2. Cut Copy - Faraway

Film Freak: Then She Found Me

Okay I could describe this film in one word: unwatchable!

But I don't do one word reviews, cause if a film is this bad it's easy to pick apart:

Helen Hunt - You literally want to slap from the get go, her character is so hate able and so annoying you really wish a semi trailer would run her over and kill her off in the first ten minutes.

Colin Firth - Never liked him and won't start now.

Bette Milder - Seeing her in her undies caused me to lose my sex drive for days later. Some may like her but again another character you could have killed off in the first two minutes and this film would have been a much better picture.

Matthew Broderick - two words "Biggest Loser", he really has stacked it on and looks nothing like the Ferris Buller days. His character is piss weak, soul less, emotionless and dull.

Over this chick flick is one to avoid at all costs, unless you can sneak an ipod in with you and tune into some of the hot feature releases below:

MGMT - Oracular Spectacular
Martha Wainwright - I Know Your Married But I Got Feelings Too (Damn right Martha!)
Bliss N Eso - Flying Colours
Cut Copy - In Ghost Colours
Madonna - Hard Candy

So overall this movie could actually have been worse than Dream On Girls (aka Dreamgirls, so where is Jennifer Hudson massive career huh?) this movie rates minus 4 stars!

Guys & Dolls Melbourne

The Princess Theatre, Spring Street Melbourne

Well this is one amazing production of a classic musical. When you think of Australian TV and film stars who would pull a full house this cast definitely does it, Lisa McCune, Marina Prior, Garry McDonald, Ian Stenlake, Shane Jacobson and Magda Szubanski. This musical features simply sensational dancing, big tunes, hot men and stars, stars, stars!

The highlight of the show was the Havana scene, this featured probably the best choreography I have ever seen live on stage, flawless. It really made So U Think You Can Dance look amateur.

This is a must see musical especially at the simply sublime Princess Theatre, or you can wait till the end of the year till it comes to Sydney, Guys and Dolls is an upbeat treat leaving you humming for days after.

Hummer Limo

Well last Thursday was the day for living the high life in a Hummer limo! These things are tops, mix in a little alcohol, karaoke and laughs and this is one amazing experience!

Look at the photos below for my excitement in the Hummer to end all Hummers!

How Embarrassment!

Film Freak: Street Kings

Well Keanu Reeves really gets down and dirty in this film. This film also features hip hops cream of the drop, Common & The Game. Another film with more twists than a French bakery and just when you think you have the whole film sussed something else pops up.

This is another cop thriller which is at times a little gory yet the violence is almost justified by the gritty and real LA scene. This film is a fairly good attempt at a first class thriller, Street Kings rates a royal 3 stars.
