Film Freak - Due Date

What the hell.....

This movie was actually almost awesome! I never thought this movie could be good but it shocked me, it was actually funny, cringe worthy and a good time out at the cinema all in one.

Robert Downey was great and the dude from "the Hangover" was awesome!

So if your in the mood for a film this summer this was a great little comedy with some laugh out loud moments and some extremely wrong moments which I loved!

Due Date is due to be rated 3 solid stars

My Album of the year.... Washington - I Believe You Liar

So the four nominations now equal one winner, from the below nominations to the the now winner:

Washington - I Believer You Liar
Angus & Julia Stone - Down the Way
Sia - We are Born
John Butler Trio - April Uprising

So it was a great year for Aussie music and Aussie albums and it is no surpise that the sensational Washington takes out my BLOG's inagrural album, of the year.

So for this year my first year presenting the album of the year I am extremely happy to say go Washington and I Believe You Liar it's pure pop brillance with hit after hit and many more hits to come. Can't wait to see her live on stage in the near distant future.

My Album of the year....

Film Freak - Love & Other Drugs

I hate Rom Com's but I like movies that change up and give the genre they are in a real shake up! And Love & Other Drugs does that better than any other film I have seen in a long while.

I laughed, I cried, I smiled and I felt things that a good movie should make you feel. It's the end of the year and this film comes in as one of my favourites of 2010. I loved it all, it could have been shorter but that's neither here nor there when the film is as wonderful as this one.

This is a must see over the Christmas/Summer Slack period.

Love and Other Drugs rates a lovely 4 stars

Film Freak - Narina - The Voyage of the Dawn Treader

So the third film in this possible franchise which has been on the decline since the second film, so I guess it's safe to say the fourth film is not looking very likely.

This was the first film produced in 3D and really did it need the 3D? No is the answer but the extra ticket price at the box office may help the box office earnings along for this film as really not much happens in this film.

There is some extra action scenes but a whole lot of nothing in other parts.

I enjoyed it but it's not a film I loved or hated in an extreme way so I will have to give this a pass mark but only just 3 stars.

Film Review - Red Hill

Bring on the Aussie films I say, I just loved this film once it got going. It was a slow start but once the action started it was non stop!

Ryan Kwantan was sexy in a nerdy/goofy way in this film and not so buff and near naked as his True Blood Jason Stackhouse character.

I enjoyed this and found myself thinking can Australian's make Western's yes they can is the answer.

Red Hill rates a BIG red 3 and a half stars.

Film Freak - Devil

Wow an 80 minute movie plus an hour of trailers, is some kind of heaven!

The movie moves rapidly through an old wives tale which is played out by 5 people trapped in a lift. It's a solid thriller with a kind of lame religious sub plot but all good.

It has a few scares but keeps the violence to a miniumum which is good as gore doesn't make a scary film.

I must say this could be one of the best thrillers in 2010 with susepnse kept and a fairly good who done it factor.

The Devil rates 4 solid stars

Expect Cee-Lo, Angus + Julia, SIA and more to feature. Let me know your fave tunes of the year by commenting please.

True West - Could this be more truly Boring

Okay so I love Brendan Cowell but with an American accent, not so much and in a play where not much happened and the theatre roof begun leaking near me, it wasn't much of a night out at the Theatre.

True West casting also was extremely strange with the two brothers looking nothing like each other which was a major distraction and in parts you just thought this was plain weird. The mother also looked nothing like either son.

Brendan Cowell is so much better in a gritty Australian piece not a lame American piece which is so slow in parts I nearly nodded off. Sydney Theatre company has had some major hits this year and I loved August Ostage County but this just sent me to nap town.

Overall the set was amazing till the trashed the joint and the music between scenes was at times like an alarm clock waking me up.

Can only give this 1 and a half stars, it's the end of the year I've seen a lot and it's time to get tough.

True West tonight, review to cum soon :)

Doolittle with Eliza!

Okay so I am in love with Eliza Doolittle, since hearing her album in my friends car to buying the album to turning "Pack Up" up really loud and doing my house work in my undies to finally getting to the Oxford Arts Factory and seeing this sexy young minx live!

So I've seen some amazing gigs in 2011, Girl Talk, John Butler Trio, Angus & Julia Stone but I think this took the cake.

Eliza is amazing and so sweet, she melted my heart a lil bit.

She powered through the many hits to be on her debutt (sorry Jessica M) album and rocked out a beautiful cover of "Big Jet Plane" and a massive cover of "Fuck You". Cee-Lo watch out there is a no soul sister in town! So overall this was a perfect pop experience.

I love it! 5 stars out of 5 stars, if I could give it more I would!

5. Sarah McLeod - Dancing in the Dark

Film Freak - Monsters

OMG two crap things in a row, this is bringing me down!

Arthouse aliens with a small budget and annoying leads. Alein romance and a lame romance between two American losers, if this sounds like your cup of tea go waste 90 minutes or be advised that this is totally lame and does not deserve the good reports it seems to be getting around the traps.

1 star.

Fame - I hope this is not gonna live forever

Oh boy, what a MASSIVE mess this musical was all over the shop, I have never seen something so messed up, from a high energy routine to some lame ass ballad that sucked so bad it could be illegal in 2 states and territories.

I really don't have anything good to say about this musical except it's run was cut short and it's finished now. The dancing was good in parts but it didn't make up for the shocking acting (circa Home & Away standard) and terrible singing.

Fame was a massive mess that someone needs to clean up if it wants to travel to another city in this fine brown land.

1 star for the dancing.

The Sweetest Thing @ Belvoir St Theatre

I must admit I have had some moments at the theatre this year where I would have preferred if I was 6 feet under and surpriisling enough this wasn't one of them. Sweetest Thing was indeed that and the actresses, in particular the simply beautiful Diana Glenn (man I have a lady crush on her) was terrific. She dumped her usual worried look (Satisfaction and Carla Carmetti) and managed a smile from time to time and when she smiled she was just divine.

This show was simply lovely in parts and moving in others, all the cast including Caroline Craig from Blue Heelers & Underbelly fame was also fine. As was her other sister who I didn't catch her name.

I enjoyed this a lot more than expected and I loved the 80 minute running time, short and sweet is the way a play should be.

4 stars for this little gem, running until the end of the week so get in better it's all over red rover.

Film Freak - The Social Network

Okay so everyone who knows me knows I hate the shit out of Facebook. Now this movie continued to drive my hatred towards this non-social networking tool. Social networking to me involves people actually being social and not sitting in a dark room stalking former class mates or lovers or potential lovers.

I find the whole Facebook thing just plain weird and something I am really happy to not be part of, I love blogging bitch!

So this movie is all it's cracked up to be, it's fantastic, Justin Timberlake finally has a good acting role. The plot and lay out of the film are simply amazing, the court proceedings are interesting and the end of the film leave you thinking is this guy just a massive wanker or is he actually a genius. A lot of people argue with me and say Facebook will be huge forever, well newsflash it won't be everything has an expiry.

The Social Network, is great and a great insight into one of today's most popular fads. I can't see Facebook being huge in 5 years and maybe this film will be totally redundant after Facebook falls on it's butt. Still it's great now while the book of faces has a big following.

4 stars for the Social Network.

So it's a weak late but here is my ARIA's wrap and some other random stuff....

So it's been a week and I think I now can discuss the ARIA's and the high points and the low points of this years event.

The highest point and best part of the whole event was Washington's performance of the terrific song "Sunday Best". Her album "I Believe You Liar" is now one of 4 albums I believe to be the album of the year. The winner will be announced around boxing day. But back to the performance it was sensational, vocally at times shakey but as far as the look of it, it was amazing, it shit on even SIA, John Butler and one of the worlds most boring live acts Angus & Julia Stoned as a mother flipper!

The other high point was SIA's acceptance speech, she is gold and random all at once, I have so much love for her! SIA for PM, Julia it's time to go!

Okay now the low points, firstly no awards for John Butler Trio? April Uprising is a great album and the live act that follows is second to none.

Next low point, the presenters, we all know Jessica Maubouy can't read by now, and the dude from Modern Family WTF, that show sux and so does Riki Lee, I'm glad you got fired from NOVA cause as a gay man, you were an embrassment, and let's not start on your vile music career.

Next, Lara Bingle and Carmen Electra, another two WTF's. Also as hot as Geoff the swimmer who lost all that wight is, what is he doing on a music awards show?

Okay so the ARIA's rated terribly as well I think even re-runs of Models Inc faired better but the whole setting was weird, the presenters were a joke and the new publically voted awards WTF, Mumford & Sons most popular international act, they had one song, and it sucks. Does anyone play Little Lion Man anymore? Oh heavens above!

Now onto some good new music:

Cee-Lo Green - The Ladykiller (the Fuck you guys is back with a full album)

Washington - I Believe You Liar (highlights, Sunday Best, Cement, How to Tame Lions, The Hardest Part, 1997, Navy Blues, it's definately an album of 2010!)

SIA - We Are Born (the Fight the opening show still gets me, it is pop perfection)

Now tonight I'm finally seeing the Social Network so expect a big review in the next day or so. I hate Facebook, I blog and I'm not sure how this JT starring film will rate with me so stay tuned.....

Film Freak - Skyline

Oh dear, what do I write about this film, almost 24 hours after I saw it I still don't know whether I liked it or hated it.

It's weird, it's a perve fest, but it's weird the characters are so badly developed, the story is weird and the way the film starts is just plain weird.

So overall it was entertaining and it was out of yesterdays heat, so I have to give it the pass mark of 2.5 out of 5.

Skyline is definately not way above the rest of this year's films.

Top 5 @ 5 - Mon 15 November 2010

1. Cee-Lo Green - Bright Lights, Bigger City
2. Tim & Jean - Everywhere (FAB cover)
3. Rihanna - Only Girl (In the World) - love it fully sicko!
4. Gorillaz - Doncamatic (only good song on their new disc, oh wait it's not even on the new CD, eehhhh)
5. Miami Horror - Holidays

Thailand Trip #2 - Bangkok & Phuket

So yes I did Thailand a second time this month and I must say I do love this country, it's culture and it's people.

I did find my second time around was more action packed as I got to fly on the FAB Ari Asia to and from Phuket which was amazing. Bangkok is also one of the most action packed places I have ever been to and the shopping was simply out of this world! I loved it!

Phuket also had so much to offer, Karon Beach where I stayed had a beautiful beach, lovely people and the most amazing resort, The Old Phuket Resort was just beautiful, the rooms were fitted with their own private jacuzzi and a nice outside shower, also a nice big bath for a long legged freak like myself.

I am still recovering from all the walking around the massive night markets and paying only $3 for t-shirts and paying $1 for a pair of socks LOL

Until my next holiday this past holiday will go down as my favourite holiday of all time.

Paper Scissors "Lung Sum" Single Launch

Isn't it amazing when you find a venue right near your house that you have never been to? And in the city of Sydney where there are venues everywhere it is quiet nice to find one right near your place that you can check out live music.

Now I did arrive to this gig just as the Paper Scissors had broken into their hit "We Don't Walk" which for me was when I first started taking notice of them.

Their new single "Lung Sum" is a moody affair and some of their other tracks followed this moody feel.

I enjoyed the tracks I caught and the room had a nice uni atomsphere which made me feel a little old.

Overall I think the Paper Scissors can grow into a good little band and with more touring and hopefully more radio exposure these guys could make a real go of it, I am just waiting to hear their next "We Don't Walk". 3 Stars.

Film Freak - The Town

Okay so I saw this a while back now as I was in Thailand (again) but this time it was different it was Phuket and the fantastic Bangkok (more about this later).

So the film by Ben Affleck is GREAT! The acting is first class and the story of the bank robbers is great and at times I almost felt compassion to the badies in the film.

This film has a bit of everything, action, drama (a nice little romance plot) & a car chase scene that rocks.

This film deserves all the attnetion that it is recieving and is definately a good date night film, it covers boys and girls off evenly.

The Town rocks it at 4 stars.

I Believe You Liar - Nomination for my BLOG's inaugural Album of the year - 2010

So I Believe You Liar released 30 July 2010, debuting at #3 on the Australian Albums Chart is my fourth and possibly final nomination in my BLOG's inaugural Album of the year for the year 2010.

It has been a good year for music but mainly again for the ladies (SIA, Eliza Doolittle, Julia Stone & Lady Gaga continues to rip it up and suck!) and an even better year for Australian music, namely SIA, Angus & Julia Stone, John Butler Trio and now Washington.

The songs from the album that instantly grabbed my attention are the singles mainly and the various album tracks listed below:

"1997"
"Navy Blues"
"Cement"
"Rich Kids"
"Sunday Best" - STANDOUT (plus a very camp and FAB video)
"Clementine"
"The Hardest Part"
"How to Tame Lions"

Having 8 solid songs on the CD is a massive triumph as far as I am concerned the CD is a great intelligent pop CD that makes Lady Gaga's and Pink's most recent offerings look unintelligent and lame in comparision.

This album is a perfect pop find and I am very proud to add this to my list of the best albums of 2010. Well done Washington and I Believe you Liar, my latest and maybe last nomination for my BLOG's album of the year.

Winner announced later this year.

Top 5 @ 5 - Wednesday 27 October 2010

1. M.I.A/Rye Rye - Sunshine
2. Duffy - Well Well Well
3. Eliza Doolittle - Mr Medicine
4. Washington - The Hardest Part
5. Miami Horror - Holidays

Theatre - Namatjira

So every now and then a play is presented in a slightly different way and a way that gets the audience in there and involved, this play did that by audience particiaption from almost word dot.

I enjoyed the different way of exploring the characters in Namatjira, i was impressive and the two leads and supports (through drawing and live music) were just terrific.

Plays can be boring and espically when they creep over the two hour mark, but this play managed to hold my interest for the full 2 hours.

With singing, live art, dancing, acting and crowd interaction all in the one play it is pretty hard to mark this play down for being original.

I will give this one a solid 4 stars as it was something different and something very enjoyable.

Go check it out before it closes real soon, that's a flipping order!

The Countdown is on for Thailand trip #2

This Sunday if you don't know is my second trip this month to the lovely land of Thai!

Stay tuned to the BLOG for live updates and more, before then a load of reviews n stuff to come including the Paper Scissors in Sydney this Friday and tonight a bit more theatre from Belvoir Street. Heavens above what a week!

Film Freak - Life as We Know It

Okay so ROM COM's SUCK! And this one is no exception however there were moments. But the moments were few and far between, this movie was LOOOOONNNNNNNGGGG and I mean long. It at times took forever to get anyway and I found myself checking my phone more than once (not a good sign).

The women were annoying, the men in the movie were either pussy whipped, gay or lazy yobs. So basically a total stereotype. Why does Katherine Heigel aim to be an annoying un datable bitch in any movie she goes for? Who wants to date a controlling, needy, slightly retarded woman who throws herself at anything that will pay her a second of attention, NOT ATTRACTIVE WOMAN!

The supports were way better than the leads except the baby was butt ugly (ginger kids are not cute).

So basically this was a female movie and I'm a male who likes males and can see the female side of thing but this was demented.

2 stars for the support cast who put up with a bad script and an even worse story. EEEHHHHHHHH

Fool for Love (amongst other things!)

So another night at the theatre, well actually my return to the theatre after a trip away and yes another to come this weekend.

So this looked exactly like Killer Joe at the Downstairs theatre and that's not a bad thing as that was a damn awesome set and play.

This play did however rely heavily on only two characters for a large part of the play and both were not really attractive which did at times hurt my eyes and also annoy me (as my nose was running and I was feeeling a little ill).

So anyway the play was a demented love story about a weird love story (also helped out by song @ the rear of the theatre by the dad (?) playing the guitar and moaning lyrics) about a brother and sister USA hook up. Only in the USA would brothers and sisters hook up!

So the play was good, nice and easy to follow but a little long in parts. A good play is a short play and straight to the point and I think there could have been a few things cut out of this baby to make it a short, sweet effort. None the less it still rates a healthy 3 loved up stars

Film Freak - Paranormal Activity 2

OMG is all I an say, after a VERY slow and drawn out start this movie scared the pants off me! I literally thought a heart ache was around the corner!

This movie was damn scary and I nearly ripped my friends arm off in the tense parts.

Look these movies are made on a smaller budget than most Hollywood horror films but they do suspense about one million times better. The lack of gore is also welcome.

The linking to the first film was terrific and the whole 2nd half of the film was near flawless.

I would have to say I had the worst sleep last night after this picture but a bit of tension is always good (as long as it's not sexual tension).

Paranormal Activity 2 rates a scary ass 4 stars.

Top 5 @ 5 - Camp Tunes for Purple Gay Day

Yeah it's meant to be good to wear purple to support the young gays today so I do my current top 5 camp favourite tunes

1. Kylie - Get outta My Way
2. Katy Perry - California Gurls
3. Lady Gaga/Beyonce - Telephone
4. Usher - DJ got Us Falling in Love Again
5. Kylie - Pop Your Hands Up (for Love) - well I think that's what it is called

Film Freak - Made In Dagenham

GIRL POWER is two words that echoed through my head after Made In Dagenham.

I did enjoy this film however as a man I think it would have been much miore enjoyable as a woman.

The cast acted this number out well and the film was done well. However it was a little long, the real footage and interviews with the women who went therough these hard times at the end made the film more realistic.

I must say a free film is always a good film.

Light the Night 2010

After a few years of attending this event they have now dumped the usual comedy routines and left out a lot of musical theatre numbers and subuistuted these for more contempory numbers which are okay, but some are just plain awful.

The evening has a lovely feel to it, but the talent has really gone down hill a bit. Rob Mills destroyed both the Temper Trap and U2's anthem all in one messy Australian Idol wave of mass destruction. I was almost ill when he tried to hit the high notes on Sweet Disposition, just awful.

Iota again was a standout in this years line up, Old Man River was also impressive and Josh Thomas as the host was a refreshing change which was interesting as I never liked him on TV but loved him in this scenerio. He offended lot's of oldies so I don't think he will be back next year but I also think I will give it a miss too.

Other moments of mention, the Jersey Boys cast were good, the oldies loved them, could have done without Wendy Matthews, could have been a few more upbeat numbers instead of boring old ballads.

Overall a hit n miss night out, but in the end all the money raised goes to a great cause, I just think they need to rejig the programming and ditch the Rob Mills factor and bring back the likes of Amy Housewine and various other comedians.

2 and a half stars.

So farewell Thailand and hello Sydney

So yes I am back in Sin City and have said bye to the lovely country of Thailand.

After loving the shopping, massages and all the friendly people, it's time to head back to work and back to Sydney.

My Thailand holiday was one of the moments of 2010, I had such a ball and totally miss all the lovely people and my new friends in another land.

Coming soon many more film reviews and the occasional theatre and live music review.

Film Freak - The Expendables

The Expendables could be the best or worst action film of the year. I can't quite work this out. Seeing a movie in foreign lands is cool because it's so different. Firstly it was 5oo baht! SO EXPENSIVE, no 500 baht is around 15 Australian dollars and for my friend Carly back home this include free popcorn and some random chip things.

We also had seats in like banana chairs, hence the guy next to me had his blanket and a cocktail and had a quick (well the duration of the film) kip.

So back to the movie, we are in a freezing cold cinema, the Thai's know too forms of temperature, hot outside and the Alaska's inside. I am freezing, my popcorn has turned to ice and the movie kicks in.

It's violent, it's cheesy and it has some random cameos but the Expendables does not pretend to be anything other than a random action film with a thin plot and big action sequences. Look if I saw it at my local Hoyts I would give it 2 stars but overseas this movie was the shit, 3 stars.

So it's been a while...

So yeah it's my last day in Jomtien today and I must say I am a little sad but also happy to return home to the beloved city of Sydney.

The trip has gone super fast and I have enjoyed the few cultural things I have done whilst in Thailand, the not so cultural shopping and bizare movie experience (full review next post) and all the relaxation one can fit into a weeks break in South East Asia.

So my trip comes to a close and I will do a final re-cap of the trip upon entry back into Australia unless I get stopped by Border Security (Hello Grant Bowler).

So yeah not much to report on today, it's hot like every other day, I'm off for another massage, the hotel owner where we are staying has kindly offered to cook us a farewell lunch (you don't get that at the Hilton, imagine Paris cooking, it would be like coke for started and smack for mains).

So there we have it Bang My Cock cuming to a big farewell. I love you long time Jomtein and Thailand, Singapore airport here I cum!

Pattaya Shopping Check

Yep it's offical all my shopping centers in Pattaya have now been visited and made purchases at, even the Ripley's Believe it or Not attraction got a look in.

Very busy day today, beach walk, beautiful Chicken Cashew Nut Stirfry for Breakfast, Massage, Beef Mince stirfry plus sweet rice and mango for lunch, Shopping, more shopping, beach run in Sunset/thunder storm/lightning. Oh the Tropics!

So yeah it's all happening n shit as I prepare for another night in Jomtien.

Oh good grief the girly bars keep screaming at me "you welccccccuuuuuummmm" I reply I like the boys, and one even yelled back "I am Lady Boy" oh the Thai carnage!

So yeah signing out hope your long weekend was fully sick luike you ate out at a bad Thai street stall.

Night Markets & A Thai Indian Drag Show WTF???

After a long afternoon @ the beach with lot's of random shopping and services, we headed off to the local night markets with the owners of the hotel/units we are staying at.

It was great to go with a local as you got a great price on your shopping items. I got some fab new knickers (aka smalls - one size fits all apparently here in the land of Thai) and a top kick ass T-Shirt for around $4.

I then headed off to the Venue a little cabaret bar where they host the longest drag shows in the history of drag shows. The show featured one great track with 4 back up dancers and two lady boys doing an Indian themed dance and song. Very amazing, great dancing and fusion of two very different cultures.

My morning today started off as usual with a walk around my local area. Locals now recognise me and bow and nod and some say hello or hello my darling depending on the stretch of the beach.

I have just finished off my fourth or fifth massage where the owner has showered me in gifts by giving me a number of good luck charms. Let's just hope they work LOL.

So today it is Ripley's Believe it or not in Pattaya and then some light shopping. I think I need new shoes. Then we will see where the night takes me. I must say my sleeping over here has been amazing, no stress, no worries just 8 hours of pure bliss sleep next to the beach.

Until next time ciao bitches

Boys Boys Boys Goes - Bang Bang Bang!

Oh Thailand where on Earth would you find a strip called Boyz Town with every type of Go-Go boy, Massage joint (with a happy ending) and everything in between. GOOD GRIEF!

So Bang My Cock is now old, I have been here in Jomtein (aka the upper market version of Pattaya) for a few days and I have become a regular at the above board local massage place (great foot massages, except my blisters are just even too nasty to show the poor massage people), the local 7 Eleven and a regular on the beach where you can get everything from Pineapple and other fruit, to fake tattoos, massage, pedicures and manicures, all of which I have now had.

The trip has been great, shopping, beach, eating (I have gained about 17kg) and checking out the local sites which today included a Thai temple on the local mountain. I love this whole Buddhist thing it's ace, maybe I have found a religion for me. Or maybe not.

The people here are super friendly and quiet forward at times, but hey I have realised while being here the man I recently meet is the best man in the world and I can't wait to see him when I return.

So Thailand, love it, it's fun, it's cheap and it is a hell of a lot better than sitting at home watching those vile Dragons win the NRL grand final. Damn dragons and damn their fans y'all suck.

Okay well another update in a couple of days, happy long weekender make it a bender for me :)

More on Day One & Two of the Bang My Cock saga

Forget to the Twilight saga where nothing happens, my saga of a 4am start yesterday that went almost 24 hours is now just a distant memory.

My morning started with the vile sound of my phoen alarm @ 4:15am I then proceeded to Sydney International with Peter and a lovely car trip with Peter's roomie Neville.

We then boarded the fantastic A380 to Singapore which was just amazing the entertainment, food and service of Singapore Airlines was second to none. The staff were amazing and the movies, music and TV on these flights was simply terrific!

We got to singapore airport for a light shop and wait before another great Singapore airlines flight to Bangkok. After a one and a half hour car trip to Jomtien beach we were all set for a drink and a Thai drag show. I was shocked by the number of hookers and stray animals. Welcome being yelled and screamed from the bars was my first real memory of Thailand.

I woke up in the blizzard that was my hotel room after only six hours of sleep. Saw all the beach boys setting up the beach for the day and stumbled upon some of the local services liek this one, the Internet Cafe. Breakfast was divine and $3 AUD!

So it's onto Central shopping centre today for a light shop, then a nap then some dinner and then another night on the Thai town. Oh boy this place is hot, such a nice change after Sydney's bi-polar wheather.

More updates to follow soon. I miss you Sydney and may SIA scoop the ARIA awards on November!

Kisses, me love you long time....

Bang My Cock - Days One & Two

So I have left the city of sin and moved into my first adult south east Asia tour.

I have a brand new favoiurite airline in Singapore Airlines and I cannot believe how many scooters, feral dogs and cats and hookers are in the land of Thai.

More updated cuming soon....

Bang My Cock.... Cuming Thursday.....

Yellow Moon - A Theatre Number

Well I am in love with John Shrimpton who played the main character in this produced. He was adoreable and distracted me for the entire 80 minute run. The story was interesting and it was played out well.

I find a small cast is sometimes really hard to follow sometiems through espically when they play multiple characters.

But anyway overall this was an enjoyable 80 minutes at the Theatre so I can't complain.

Overall I love a song called Yellow Moon from Laura Jean so this will bump this up to 3 stars.

Regurgitator - Welcome to 90's world....

Regurgitator were a favourite band through my high school years and I loved them dearly. They did however really drop off the planet for a while which saddened me greatly as it was like it is totally time to grow up.

Okay so I like the Manning Bar I really do it's close to home which is always a great thing!

Okay so onto the music, Regurgitator played a tight set begininning with the rather rude "I Will Lick Your Asshole". They ran through all the hits from the past albums with a large focus on their biggest album to date "Unit".

It was like a time warp back into 90's world which was totally ace :)

Overall after a late start and a power back hiour or so of Regurgitator it was a night to remember and a night to farewell my youth. Regurgitator rate a solid 4 stars.

Film Freak - Charlie St Cloud

Oh my love affair has continued with Zac Efron, oh I feel like a 12 year old girl with no pubes.

This film was a lot worse than his last effort, "Me & Orson Wells". The plot sucked, the acting at times was a disgrace and the whole I see dead people is so Sixth Sense.

I must say I left this film feeling ripped off of an hour and a half of my time. The whole plot and rubbish in between could have been one solid episode of Home & Away.

I am putting it out there that this is in my tope 5 worst films of 2010. For top 5 to come at the end of the year. This movie rates half a St crap star.

Play of the year? - AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY

Wow AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY is brilliant, it lives up to and exceeds the hype in a massive way! I loved every minute (and their are a lot of minutes) of AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY.

Sydney Theatre Company generally choose awesome shows but this takes the cake.

The Mom in this was terrific the daughters outstanding and the supporting cast were fantastic. It took a little bit to get into it but once it did it packed a punch a minute.

The show is definitely worth trying to buy, steal or rent a ticket before it finishes this weekend. The three acts are a good idea for once in this three hour theatre marathon.

AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY is definitely a theatre highlight I will remember for a while, 4.75 stars.

Film Freak - Easy A

Two good movies in a row, is this possible, well it's Easy A!

This movie so different to the last, The Disappearance of Alice Creed, is a funny light hearted tale of coming of age with super out there characters and heaps of fun in between.

I loved this movie because it made me laugh out loud and smile from ear to ear, and also touch me with some really beautiful moments. The soundtrack is awesome indie awesome!

I do recommend you see this movie if you want a laugh and a good time out at the cinema AWESOME!.

Easy A rates an Easy 4 stars it is great. Check this out...

Film Freak - The Disappearance of Alice Creed

Okay so before I start this has review, I am already going to say this is definitely in my top 5 movies of the year! It is awesome.

So what happens when a simple story of kidnapping a wealthy man's only child goes pear shaped? Well the Disappearance of Alice Creed is what you get.

This low budget UK film ticks all the boxes. It gets you straight to the point and then delivers more twists and turns then any other film of the year has.

I loved every tense minute of this film, the three actors in this picture were terrific!

I think this movie will get great underground success as word of mouth will definately make this film go places.

If you want a tense thriller with a million and one exciting minutes after only 90 minutes this film is for you.

The Disappearance of Alice Creed rates extremely highly at 4.75 stars, AMAZING!

PREVIEW - Jersey Boys

Well it's finally hit Sydney after the most successful run in Melbourne. After running for just over a year in the city of theatre Jersey Boys brings the noise to Sydney.

After seeing it over a year ago in Melbourne it was nice to again have a look at this one. I do really enjoy the story and it does move along at a rapid pace. With hit after hit smashed out and some fancy little choreography this musical/concert/play packs a punch.

It's sharp fresh and a well staged production at Sydney worst Theatre the Theatre Royal. The Theatre Royal just lacks something it's not as beautiful as the Capitol, it's not as cultured as the State and it's not as fun as the Lyric and let's not mention the train noise, good grief!

Overall beside the horrible venue Jersey Boys is hard to beat for a nice night out. It rates 4 stars.

Film Freak - Tomorrow When the War Begun

A $20 million Australian film, where, where? Well it's here in Tomorrow when the War Begun. With Home & Away grade actors, a massive budget and a massive book will this movie be hit or shit?

Well the book apparently is one of the most famous pieces of Aussie literature, the acting well let's not go there but it all lies in the production and to me personallt the fantastic Aussie soundtrack, covering Missy Higgins, Temper Trap, Sarah Blasko and Bob Evans to name a few.

The action sequences and moments of tension are done so well you would think this was an American blockbuster movie. The movie flew past at a rapid speed.

I did like it but just hope a sequel is on the cards to tie up the ending.

Overall I must say I love Aussie films so I score this higher cause it's Aussie but if it was American I would have scored it lower, 4 stars.

Film Freak - Vampires Suck

Oh Good Grief, if the Scary Movie franchise wasn't enough then the Twilight/Buffy and every other Popular culture rip off is now here in Vampires Suck.

Now I hate the whole idea and teen themes behind the Twilight saga (what saga nothing ever happens except the emo c&%t sits around being all emo) but this really could have been better. At least it didn't take a swing at the much better vampire franchise in True Blood.

Their were moments of funny but if fart jokes and bad dad jokes arent your thing, then Vampire Sucks will surpise Surpise, suck.

1 and a half stars

Top 5 @ 5 - Mon 6 Sep 2010 - Album of the Year Tunes

1. SIA - The Fight (We are Born)
2. John Butler Trio - C'Mon Now (April Uprising)
3. Angus & Julia Stone - The Road (Down the Way)
4. SIA - You've Changed (We are Born)
5. Angus & Julia Stone - And the Boys (Down the Way)

Theatre - Gwen in Purgatory

Okay so last time I went to Belvoir for the downstairs play I was beside myself, I hate Woyzack or whatever it was, oh good grief but Gwen in Purgatory was AMAZING! I loved it so much.

I love dotty old people and this was just simply awesome!

The older actress played this so well and I really loved her passion and conviction in this part.

The story was touching and heartfelt and the characters were almost at times a little close to home.

This play was terrific and a great achievement 3.75 stars

Album of the year - LIVE UPDATE! - John Butler Trio

Last week's installment saw me trek over to Sydney's Enmore Theatre for a rather lackluster performance from Angus + Julia Stone and this previous week I made my way to the John Butler Trio + Blue King Brown at Sydney's Hordern Pavillion.

I must say in the search for the album of the year this year I had in my mind a clear winner until Friday night. The John Butler Trio played the most impressive set in months. They started with "Pickapart" a massive fav of mine from their extensive back catalogue.

They played through gems from all their albums and a lot from the two most recent, "Grand National" and "April Uprising".

Blue King Brown also were terrific and a great pairing for the support. A good support and good pairing is rare these days so this was terrific.

Overall this set was polished, professional and the set list could not have been any better. I was so impressed I am giving this one a big 4.75 stars. AMAZING show and an amazing album, from the John Butler Trio, ARIA Awards here we go JBT!

4 FACES OF LOVE - Slide - Now open on Wednesdays

Well I do love Slide, I love the food, I love the venue, I love the bar staff, it's just a great atmosphere especially to see live entertainment.

Four Faces of Love is a three course (with maybe some dessert) and four very different plays. One was very full on and one was funny but slightly disturbing, one was very Sex & the City and one was a tale of a deranged fan.

Great atmosphere, amazing food and excellent room full of people made for an amazing night.

I recommend swing by on a Wednesday night to check this out as it's totally awesome and rates four faced stars.

Film Freak - Piranha 3D

Good Grief they would make anything into 3D film these days and this brings me to Piranha 3D.

Heavens above there was so much TnA in this film, I felt like a dirty old man in a trench coat watching this.

The movie itself has a weak plot with some even weaker acting but I totally love trash and this takes trash to a whole new level, a level were only Paris Hilton and X Factor could dip below.

Some actors from TV shows and other films actually passed by and passed on in this feature however it was the electro dirty beats that was the soundtrack which got me going.

So it's trash, it's gory and it's weird but it rates in 3D as an experience so I'll throw 2 and a half chopped off limbs @ it.

Holy Shit!

My new look part of the BLOG and experince "Bang My Cock" is coming soon as I travel across the pond to Bangkok.

Tune in also for a review live and direct from Slide's Four Faces of Love show sometime this week and also more movie reviews and my review of the John Butler Trio live :)

Album of the year - LIVE UPDATE! - Angus + Julia Stone

Well the album of the year context is heating up and it's nearly boxing day when I will announe this year's (well the first Blog Album of the year prize).

Forget the ARIA's this will be the Australian music prize that every Australian will be aiming for.

So firstly I have the following three albums all up for the nod:

SIA - We are Born
John Butler Trio - April Uprising

and finally Angus & Julia Stone - Down the Way, which is my live review from the weekend at Sydney's Enmore Theatre. This was the third night they performed there on there stretch of three SOLD OUT nights.

Well this was certainly a special night, they had already done to lovely sold out performances and I was lucky enough to catch the third show the Saturday special.

They played a lot of great hits from the new album "Down the Way" and their past favourites like Mango Tree and Private Lawns. They did however miss the wonderful Paper Aeroplanes.

They also missed my personal highlight on the new disc "On the Road" however made up for this with a beautiful performance of "And the Boys" and "Black Crow". "Big Jet Plane" came in the encore and their latest offering "Hold On" was just blissful.

This was definately a lovely night out and I must say this album will be hard to beat for the blog's album of the year but with the news in I will be attending John Butler Trio this Friday the competion will be hotting up!

Angus & Julia Stone rate a comfortable 3 and a half live stars.

The Moscow Circus leaves French's Forest before..

Heading into downtown Miranda...

The show has changed and evolved so much over the last 18 months that I have witnessed this show. This time around an act with a number of gold fish and a women with one might thirst blew my mind off.

AMAZING!

I definately recommend you check this out in either Miranda or when it rolls into Rose Bay for the School Holidays in September (YUCK KIDS!).

The Great Moscow Circus never disapoints, 4.5 stars

Woyzeck - The WORST piece of theatre - EVER?

Could Woyzeck be the worst piece of theatre ever? Well I thought so and so did the members of last night's session I discussed this issue with, it was one of the most horrorfic and drawn out pieces of rubbish I have ever seen.

I must say this play was only 1.5 hours but I want it back dammit!

Please avoid this play at all cost!

WAFU

Dining out in Sydney is always an extreme experience, you either get shit service or rude c*nts who are out of work actors and think they are gods gift.

Last night I went to a resturant where you had to be a member or be extremely lucky to be allowed in and then if you ompleted your meal you were invited to be a member. I was extremely excited.

Wafu is located in my local ghetto on Cleveland St heading out to the SFS. It is a lovely Japanese gulten free resturant where the food is super healthy and really yummy :)

However I was not sure whether we would even be allowed in due to the rules below:

1. You must read the websites rules and agree with them.
2. You must complete your meal including all salads.
3. If ordering take away you must bring your own takeaway containers.

And there are a few more which I cannot even remember, but in the end I was allowed in which was awesome, I also did finish everything on my plate and ciompleted a yummy not too much guilt invovled dessert.

I also now am a proud and very loud WAFU member. EXCITEMENT! So if you want to join me and your going to eat all your meal it's a date!

Film Freak - Matching Jack

I really try and like all Aussie films but this one challenged me. Like "My Sisters Keeper" the other year, it was a intentional tear jerker. Not sure if I liked it as 90% of the characters you just hated and at times I thought could I just jump into the movie and slap someone, HARD!

I must say it was not the best movie I've ever seen but it did have it's moments. The young boys did well in a difficult film.

I really hate marking down Aussie films but this one can only manage 2 stars.

Film Freak - Scott Pilgrem Vs the World

HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM Don't know about this one just yet, it was good but weird and like I had a hand controller in my hand playing a video game from the comfort of my Dendy Newtown seat LOL!

Michael Cera just played the usual drip that he does but his roomate in the film Wallace was pretty damn good.

Okay so it was for a younger market than myself but I loved it in a weird way. 3 computer game stars.

PAM ANN 4 PM

With our election in disarray, I saw let's make Pam Ann PM, do you agree?

This is hands down the best comedy show I have EVER seen. AMAZING!

Pam Ann is simply awesome and her interaction with the crowd is second to none it was simply amazing. She is so on the pulse with everything current she made me just so proud.

Pam Ann, I can't really say anything else other than this girl has got it!

5.5 stars (if that's possible)

Film Freak - Salt

OMG Angelina, you are an action superstar!

Okay so this would have just been an average film if it wasn't for a female lead in place of a male lead (originally it was meant to be a male lead - Edwin Salt in place of Evelyn Salt - always liked the name Evelyn though).

Okay so with all the explosions, all the fighting and gun shots, the twists and turns in this movie make it. It is not overly violent but it all pieces together really well.

Angelina is a star and I heart her.

3 stars mainly for her and her stunt double.

OF EARTH & SKY - Bangarra Dance Company

Oh how I love the Opera House and lately oh how I love DANCE!

What a great matinee and what a great show, the dancers just danced beautifully for an amazing two act very down to earth performance. Again with beautiful music and moves that left me feeling so relaxed and just amazed how terrifi this company is on all occasions.

They are so consistant, so happy to have seebn this terrific performance.

4 stars.

TV in 2010

Okay I have been wanting to write about my experiences with TV in 2010 for ages now and it's finally time at the end of winter and on the home stretch to the Summer non ratings period.

Okay first local dramas and TV, Packed to the Rafters is still terrible and if it's possible it's getting worse with lame story lines and when my mum claims the show is boring then we have cause for concern. Rescue Special Ops returned and even with hunky guest stars has still failed to excite me and with the news of a third series here to come they will have to work incredibly hard to draw in a bigger audience.

Over to Ten an absolutely terrible debut for Offspring started on the weekend. Boy this was terrible is it a drama or sitcom? Is Asher Keddie good enough to hold the show together? How many Aussie shows is Don Hany in? How many shows is Kat Stewart in? Why are the same actors in Tangle, East West 101, Love My Way and every other Aussie drama, what about all the new NIDA grads?

So Offspring, Packed to the Rafters and Rescue Special Ops get the thumbs down but I am in love with East West 101 and can't wait for the third series to start. I am also still in love with Showcase's great productions such as Tangle and Satisfaction.

I am hoping the new NINE drama Cops LAC or whatever will be decent but if the commericals are anything to go off it's just the cast for Underbelly 2 in a new outing.

Overseas True Blood has stepped it up to a great new level for series 3. Califorication finished strong in series 2 and I can't wait to watch series 3. Nurse Jackie was slightly disappointing in season 2 where United States of Tara was simply terrific, with great new story lines and fantastic character development.

Overall an okay year for TV with my overall outrage that channels over here still wait to the following year to show new series from abroad. For example Desperate Housewives will show in the US next month but in Australia we will wait till Feb 2011 when the series is almost done. GOOD GRIEF!

Oh well happy viewing and look out for more info on upcoming idiot box shit

Reviews to Come.....

Top 5 @ 5 - Tue 17 Aug 2010

1. M.I.A - It take a Muscle
2. Sarah McLoed - Double R [REMIX}
3. Count & Sinden ft. Mystery Jets - After Dark
4. The Subs - Mitsubitchi
5. Duck Sauce - Barbara Streissand

Film Freak - Boy

After having some of the best sex in my life I saw a terrific film from across the creek, Boy is a new Kiwi feature film which really left me feeeling all warm and fuzzy.

The story at the start is pure fun and good times but soon turns dark and goes to some pretty drak places. However it all comes together and makes for a sweet ending to one of the most heartfelt films I have seen in years.

I truly loved this film and it's honesty, it's simple nature, the use of the 80's and the amazing child cast.

This film will not be some big box office smash but it just has so much heart and so much soul that you just can't help but leave the cinema feeling really awesome and just wanting to smile.

I couldn't stop smiling for a few hours after seeing this film.

The film rates bloody highly for me and after one other good review this one clocks up an extra .25 stars, 4.75 stars, I loved this!

Film Freak - Step Up 3D

The third in the Step Up series is by far the best, not just for the 3D effects but the story and the dancing is much better. The story in the first one was kinda lame and it just seemed to take too long to get to the dance sequences.

The second movie was great, I saw it twice at the cinema and now own it but the third goes to a whole new level and really uses the 3D to it's best advantage.

Look it's not for everyone, but really it leaves you happy and wanting a whole lot more dancing and fun.

The music is also much better with a bass heavy collection from N.A.S.A, Major Lazer and more. Some brilliant mash ups also make this a damn fine ride.

I loved it and so did the Delicious friend I saw this with.

4 and a half stars, it is just so close to perfect it's not funny.

Film Freak - The Ghost Writer

Okay so I hate when people talk in the cinema but this one was outrageous! People were literally up and down every five minutes, talking, running and just being vile.

So this said this will in turn effect my review. Also I saw a late session and this movie needed my attention which I couldn't give it with all these ongoing distractions.

So overall it's a political drama, the second at present about Tony Blair (well said to be Tony Blair).

Anyway Ewan McGregor is good and Pierce Brosnon is okay. I liked this film but Samantha from Sex & the City was definitely out of place as the PA to the English Prime Minister.

Anyway enough about this film it was okay and I have a headache now so 3 stars.

Film Freak - The Killer In Me

OMG! This film goes from nothing to fucking full on! Casey Affleck is amazing, his brohter is shithouse, but hey when you see a line up of Bill Pullman, Simon Baker, Jessica Alba, Kate Hudson and Casey Affleck you know you have a film on your hands.

This film set in the southern parts of the USA and in a time a while back from a book written a while ago is interesting, the thriller element is interesting in parts but their is too many parts where you are thinking, can something please happen or get editing!

Okay so overall it was extremely well acted and the story was good but not great, I rate it a pass mark of 3 stars.

Titanic - The Exhibition - Melbourne Museum

So do you get it, I wa sin Melbourne on the weekend, the city of culture in Australia, with theatre (Mary Poppins, soon West Side Story & Hairspray), sport (Wallabies V All Blacks on the weekend, NRL's most respected sports team - Melbourne Storm & more).

Okay so we've all seen the movie, about 1% of the population saw the musical and we all know the story, this is great and a massive piece of history.

Titanic exhibition was a really good and a well set out exhibition, a must see if in Melbourne until October this year.

If you are interested in history, large ships and a massive disaster of our time check this out it's awesome, 3 and a half stars.

Mary Poppins in Melbourne

Her Majerstys theatre is amazing and so is this show. Mary Poppins AKA Verity Hunt Ballard is terrific, she was so camp, her dancing was flawless, singing was super and acting was supreme. Matt Lee did a no show and his understudy was on but that's no real loss considering his a judge on one of those painful reality shows.

The story is magical and amazing with all age groups loving the magic and tricks that come with this musical.

The set and costumes were also terrific. I can predict this will be a monster smash hit musical and run for quite some tuime in the lovely Melbounre, the theatre capital of Australia.

Mary Poppins rates extremely highly in my musical book and I think it did have the perfect number of songs, dance routines and running time so in the way of all things perfect this may very well be my first 5 star musical.

Well done Mary Poppins, 5 big nods from me.

My piece on life on Grindr for the past 2 weeks or so

OMG Grindr is taking over my life, no really it is, the messaging the meeting of new people and the X rated stuff that I will leave out of the BLOG.

Now I have had a magic iPhone for around 8 months now and have been temopted to download Grindr and finally gave in around 2 weeks or so ago.

This has now taken over my nights of chatting to either faceless torsos or guys who have hit me up or I've hit up for a chat or hopefully more.

It took me a little while to meet the first one but after that it was a little like a flood gate.

I have meet a few out for coffees or drinks which always feels a little weird after as I just assume if their is no chemistry there you will never see them again. But you also feel slightly weird meeting someone on a hook up app and then not actually hooking up. It's weird.

The hook ups are also sometimes strange, having clean towels on hand is a definate must and making sure you have a clean set of sheets is also good.

I have found this a much better version of the much outdated Gaydar and other gay sites. It is at times a little too easy to use and way too easy to hook up at the drop of a hat.

I feel for people in relationships where one partner has ginder and the other doesnt and the one is on this non stop "to just meet people". The amount of coupled or even married men has been one point which has amazed me. Never the less this new way of the gays either meeting up for potenial relationships, fuck buddies or just a one off random root is definately something in today's mordern society is really valid.

I find this at times tedious but also at the same time a great and easy way to meet other homosexuals.

Stay tuned I will add more Gindr details soon so stay tuned....

Grindr - A news worthy piece

Going Head First into Goldfrapp @ the Big Top

Okay I will be the first to say I was extremely disapointed by the new Goldfrapp CD at first listen besides the terrific track - Shiny & Warm.

But seeing this terrific group @ the Big Top @ Luna Park was a real treat. And amazingly enough and theuir new songs happened to be the best. They started oiut with some old favourites and moved through their set list like old pros.

The new tracks like "Rocket" and "Beliver" were terrific as was the above mentioned "Shiny & Warm".

I really enjoyed the great atomsphere and the crowd being that little older also made the event much more enjoyable.

Great gig, great venue (the last time I went there was for the Hilltop Hoods - years ago and I hated it but the sound and the crowd was a lot better this time around).

Overall Goldfrapp really are a top act and I think if Kylie had half the song writting skills and production skills as them she may have a number 1 Australian Album. Goldfrapp live really rates, 4 BIG TOP stars.

Film Freak - Inception

Let's get one thing out of the way first, I don't like thinking at the movies much, so this film was a little behind the eight ball from the opening credits.

Don't get me wrong, the special effects, the acting, the casting, the music and the majority of the plot was outstanding but the overall finished piece is difficult to get.

I rated this highly, but the whole way through I sat their trying to make myself not need to wee and to try and figure out what was going on in this picture.

Look don't get me wrong this was great but I can't rate it too high as it's the movies guys, time to relax in the dark and tune out from the regualr world where a ranga runs Australia and issues like immgration need to be actioned.

4 stars.

Dirty Butterfly

Wow a theatre production about domestic violence, what a way to sopend my Friday night in at the theatre.

This play (a three person number) definately was bleak but still had it's moments (in it's 55 minutes running time).

The show took a disturbning turn of events in the second half including a large amount of fake blood however as I said it had it's moments and you can't fail a short play. Dirty Butterfly rates a pass rate @ 2.5 stars.

Film Freak - Me & Orson Welles

Zac Efron is so cute, yes I sound like a 12 year old school girl, but it's true. He makes this movie more enjoyable by looking at him and trying to work out what makes him so classically good looking. His face is almost perfect and he really does have great hair.

Claire Danes is also refreshing in this film I hadn't seen her in anything for ages.

This slightly oddway less than mainstream film about a boys dream in making his career in the New York as a young actor.

It has cute moments and it's a nice coming of age of story.

I must admit I did really enjoy this film.

Me & Orson Welles rates a Broadway rated 3 stars.

Top 5 @ 5 - Wednesday 21 July 2010

1. Kele - On the Lam

Film Freak - Animal Kingdom (2nd time around)

Wow third movie review in a row and I'm seeing another one tonight SHIT!

I have already seen this but it is simply too terrific for words, Jacki Weaver was simply amazing and just owns it!

I have to say it was better the second time around and the music was so suspenseful it keep me excited the entire movie.

Animal Kingdom is definately a cut above the majority of other films out there at present 4.5 stars.

Film Freak - Knight & Day

OMG LAME attack on the movies this week, I thought this looked weak but a friend wanted to see it, so who can protest :)

However you now get to see me rip it a new one. Tom Cruise, horrible, he is too old to play an action superstar and every time he jumped around I expected him to express his love to someone Oprah style.

Cameron Diaz, oh boy, she has slid off the radar a bit lately and this effort will definately not help her cause. She played a really lame kinda boring girl caught in the middle of a major drama, which never was really explained.

Again like Predators a really lame plot twist was more annoying than exciting and "wow how did they do that?".

Really there were no good parts to this highly predicatble and lame outing at the cinemna. I think this is the final nail in the Tom Cruise coffin.

Overall terrible, minus 5 stars.

Monday, July 19, 2010

Film Freak - Predators

OMG I only heard good things about this film, however I was a little disapointed, it was a mess. The characters were boring, the action was dull, there was a little suspense but not much.

The whole movie I thought is something going to happen or can I continue to predict the order in which the dull characters are killed off one by one. The lame twist at the end was just a waste.

I don't know all I can say is I was happy not to have to pay for the ticket.

Predators, LAME - half a star

Film Freak - The Runaways

AAAGHHHH Finally a terrific international film for 2010. I am biased though I love a story about the crazy music industry but this film is way more than that!

Dakota Fanning & Kristen Stewart are fantastic, yes Kristen Stewart can act and not like a wet towel as she usually does in the Twilight films.

Dakota is simply terrific as Cherie Currie and Kristen as Joan Jett. Michael Shannon is also FAB as their viloe manager Kim Fowley. So the acting is tops and the music, simply brillant! I loved it, the concert scenes the disco scenes, the who feel of the movie is simply awesome. This is a well thought out and well created film.

There are laughs, extremely sad moments, terrific moments, and the two leads Fanning and Stewart are simply amazing.

I can't say enough great things about this movie.

It rates a massive cherry bomb 5 stars! I think my first ever 5 star movie. I LOVED IT, bring on the DVD!

Top 5 @ 5 - SIA Style

1. The Fight (from We are Born)
2. Never So Big (from the David Byrne/Fatboy Slim concept disc Here Lies Love)
3. Breathe Me (a classic)
4. The Girl You Lost to Cocaine (best name for a song ever!)
5. You've Changed(from We are Born)

Let's go Measure for Measure

Shakespear done mordern does not always work but in this outing at the latest upstairs play at Belvoir Measure for Measure is done well and at times a little over the top.

Bendict Andrews who directed the 8 hour marathon that was "War of the Roses" for Sydney Festival a year or so ago is back again with this show with some familar faces on stage if you have seen a Belvoir show recently, or if youv'e ewatched an Underbelly series and maybe even if you remember the short lived Aussie drama "Head Land" - LOL I don't think anyone remembers that gem :)

Okay so this is good, long in parts and clocking in at 3 hours including an interval you definately need to manage your wee breaks.

If Shakespear floats ya boat you will like it, PS don't go if shit, nudity, and wanking scenes offend, so there youv'e been warned.

3 stars.

The Moscow Circus hit's Sydney (well Warriewood)

I was always wondering where Warriewood is, and now I know, in the middle of the lovely Nothern bitches.

The Moscow Circus has now been travelling around this fine nation for 20 months and for it's 20th month celebration it parks in at Warriewood with some new acts and some old favourites re-done a little, and all for the better. With some new cast members and those miniature horses being just the cutest things ever this has a lot going for it.

Perfectly in time for another horrid run of school holidays so check it out before it moves to Rosehill (at least the horses will feel at home) and then onto Windsor.

Family fun and a good time for the old folks too, 4 stars.

Film Freak – A Team

I love dumb ass action movie, and this ticks all the boxes, big explosions TICK, a star studded cast TICK, one of which is appealing to men and women TICK, a strange plot twist TICK and most of all, BIG action!

I loved this for the get go, it moved fast, no fluffing around straight to it. Really good action sequences, Bradley Cooper and Patrick Wilson also make for quiet an eye catching experience.

I can’t say a bad thing about this, it was funny, clever, action packed and a damn enjoyable ride.

A Team, rates is A rated and rates 4 stars.

Rain Man – A Night at the theatre with Alex D (MMMMMMM)

Oh how I love Alex Dimitriades, ever since that opening scene of Head On, oh the memories and him live in the flesh on stage was AMAZING! He is aging so well 

This play was based on the Tom Cruise/Dustin Hoffman film which I am yet to see but did enjoy the play a heap courtesy of the amazing Alex Dimitriades.

Enough about Alex Dimitriades, he was the best actor in the small production but it was a heart felt and well put together piece at the Ensemble Theatre. It finishes up this week so get along and go to the Sailing Club next door for tea it rocks.

3 hot to trot stars.

Film Freak – Twilight Saga – Eclipse

Okay so number three in the series, number one sucked, number two was a vast improvement but number three seems to lack something. Robert Patterson could very well be the most annoying person on the big screen, the bitch that plays Bella is the most Vile person and the dude that plays Jacob is hot but needs a few acting lessons.

The soundtrack is superb, SIA is on there, Metric is featured and so are the Twilight die hards Muse. If only the rest of the movie was as good as the soundtrack.

This in all was a little disappointing but anyway it’s a teen film, and I most certainly am not a teenager anymore more. It’s fine for a couple of hours of escapism however give me True Blood series 3 over this one any day.

Eclipse rates 2 and a half blood soaked stars.

Album of the year - UPDATE!

In 2010 I am searching through my BLOG for this years hottest album and finally we have at the halfway point a third candidate.

After the John Butler Trio (April Uprising) and Angus & Julia Stone (Down the Way) have led the way so far we now have another Aussie to join the ranks. She is a lovely young lady originally city of churches Adelaide but now finds herself mingling, dating and writing music for some of the biggest personalities in Music. It’s non other than SIA. Her latest album “We are Born” has already spawned the hits “You’ve Changed” & “Clap Your Hands” now comes the album in full.

The album is her most poppy album to date and it is a total feel good and dance around album.

I personally rate this really highly but I will let you judge for yourself, go but it now! It did in Australia debut @ #2 on the ARIA charts just one bit around from the number #1 album from Eminem.

Stay tuned more nominations but let’s welcome SIA to my list of 2010 album of the year nominations:

• John Butler Trio – April Uprising
• Angus & Julia Stone – Down the Way
• SIA – We are Born

Wicked - It's only on till Mid September

So I thought it would be high time to check out the replacement for Rob Mills, young Tim Campbell. The show is flawless besides Bert Newton, and a change in the main characters is always a welcome arrival as this has been playing in Sydney and before that Melbourne for quite some time now.

The set and costumes are simply terrific, the songs are great and catchy and the main role of Lucy Durrack is always a thrill to watch. I missed who played Elphaba on the Saturday Matinee I attended but the wonderful Amanda Harrison has now left this role.

Tim Campbell was also a breathe of fresh air after how horrid Rob Mills (besides to look at) was.

So overall an enjoyable matinee and a fun day out at the theatre again, now being my fifth time seeing this one :)

I will give Wicked a welcome 3.5 stars for this fifth perfromance I have sat through.

BANG downstairs @ Belvoir

You have to get in quick as this is only on until this Sunday so quick sticks!

This play was very similar to "Beyond the Neck" in last years Downstairs season.

I did enjoy it but the first act was a little hard to follow but as it settled into the second act it really took off. The actors played great roles in this difficult to tackle matter.

I think the only flaws with this film could be the different actors all playing multiple roles which at times you struggled to know who was who.

I do recoomend this play and as I stated at the top it's only around till this weekend so get amongst it NOW!

Film Freak - Get him to the Greek

Oh dear, I have never got the whole Russell Brand thing, he is (you guessed it) ugly as fuck and also not very entertaining. The film is basically just his life in reverse. He was with a character played by the overly talented Rose Byrne where he was sober and a one woman man, then he becomes a man whore!

Now in his own life he was a man whore and now is marrying the equally untalented Katy Perry.

Both just really have amazign marketing people behind them.

Back to the movie and you an tell by my review it wasn't very interesting hence have a stab at his bleak career and even bleaker wife to be.

The story is predicatble, long and at times very boring.

I think I would struggle to give this anymore than 2 stars (mainly for the FAB Rose Byrne).

Get him to the Greek, is definately one for DVD only.

Breaking News - We have a ranga chick prime minister!

Film Freak - Wog Boys 2

Oh dear!

Okay I bagged this film a little while back when saying there wasn't much going on with Australian cinemena and now I know why I knocked it.

It was okay but WAY too long!

The jokes were really obvious and the cast at times even looked bored.

Alex D is always hot and seems to only be getting hotter with age! He is one fine speciman and basically just for him and his sexy chest I can give this Aussie film a glowing 2 and a half stars.

Club Shows - Gotta Love Them

Well Saturday night I headed off to the show that has been around for a while which I have never quiet got around to seeing, Pupperty of the old Penis. Well just penis but hey.

Now I never travel over the bridge so it was a massive effort to get me from Chippendale to North Sydney Leagues.

Now don't get me wrong I love nudity but over half an hour of staring at a two mens penis's I got a little weird. I thought do I maybe like the fanny? Cause looking a pee pees for so long has made me want to see something different?

Anyway the show was funny in parts and the famel comedian who wamred up the room was pretty wrong which is always good.

Overall seeing limp penis for a long period of time is slightly weird cause usually when I watch penis for thirty minutes it's porno and it's all on for young and old.

3 limp stars.

There is justice in the world of sports

Well done to QLD for defeating NSW 5 series in a row. As the old song goes NOBODY LIKES A RACIST. NSW get with the times it is 2010!

The world is Dizzee Mad!

Can Dizzee Rascal get any bigger in 2010! Well I guess so he has just reached the number one spot in the UK again with another new release “Shout (for England)”. On this single released for the over hyped Soccer World Cup he teams up with James Corden from the fab Gavin & Stacey UK sitcom. The song is built around the 1984 Tears for Fears song "Shout" and also samples "Grandma's Hands" by Bill Withers.

Previous to this Dizzee has been no stranger to the top of the UK charts hitting it with Dirtee Disco, Holiday, Bonkers and Dance Wiv Me. The mash up with Florence’s You’ve Got the Dirtee Love also made an impressive effort of #2.

Can anyone stop this chart topping machine, his most recent album has now gone platinum in the UK and he looks like he will continue to dominate the very competitive UK charts for months to come now.

Dizzee Rascal earns a nomination for one of the hardest and best performing male artists of 2010 thus far!

Finally back to the Theatre for a stage GEM!

Yes it has been a little while between drinks for me and a theatre review so here goes:

The Sapphires - Now Showing @ the Seymour Centre

Okay this is FAB! Hands down the most fun I have had at the Theatre since I would have to say Priscilla. I loved this true tale of four Aboriginal women who travelled to Vietnam to sing to the soldiers.

The story, the music and the acting were all top notch. Casey Donovan was simply blissful as one of the four sisters, Christine Anu was excellent and looked at home on the stage and young Hollie Andrews voice was a killer! This was sensational, think Bran Nue Dae but in Vietnam!

Amazing story, acting and great use of well known and popular songs.

I would have to say this was my favourite piece of theatre for the last financial year, it is tremendous and I don't have a single criticism.

The Sapphires, glows, sparkles and charms the pants off you, 4.5 stars.
