Homo Erotic - but this is a train wreck

Scream Queens according to US live TV ratings was appalling this week, 1.70 million US viewers, that is woeful and with the second massive US election on Fox next week, the show is already having a rest week. Not good for momentum.

Scream Queens was the worst rating series on network US TV of the night against longer running and more tired series.

Will the series be buried on Fridays or Saturdays going forward or will Fox continue to give this show the benefit of doubt? On FX meanwhile American Horror Story is only getting better and way more creepy week to week.

Kathy Bates really plays a mean evil witch well.

Quantico Season 2.

Quantico Season 1 was a flesh fest (not by HBO or Showtime's standards, no puss or doddle) and like premium cable networks in place of a strip joint this series loves a uni sex locker room scene.

I don't mind in the slightest with Russell Tovey joining the series (now the Looking movie and series have wrapped over on HBO) and fellow handsome newcomer Aaron Diaz being super sexy eye candy!

Last season was about the FBI now season 2 moves too the CIA. What's next the NRA?

I liked the first series I binged watched the first half of the series and then found week to week it got a bit more tricky to keep up with.

With some much crossing and double crossing the first season become a bit of a red hot mess but season 2 has hit the reset button and I am happy with that.

Today there is also some EXTREMELY good news, Beyonce's baby sister is back and this FRIDAY! RnB Friday that!

A Seat at the Table has a swag of great guests and all I have to say is what a great way to start the long weekend!

Shameless Season 7.

Earlier this year I was beside myself with Season Six and now with Homeland being delayed it meant Shameless gets a promotion to air earlier than expected.

Season Seven premiered online the other day and man it picks up the madness exactly where Season Six left us....

Frank is still a trainwreck and the family is doing the best to keep moving forward (Thanks Julia G, I love a good moving forward).

I am a huge fan of this show and usually after seven seasons you start to drift as a fan, but I am becoming an even more hardcore fan of Shameless with each season that arrives.

Here is hoping for Season Eight (and early like this year) again in 2017. Shameless is jewel in the crown of Showtime's current drama line up, great stuff!

That Movie Gay #2016

SNOWDEN was brilliant!

If you've read a newspaper (maybe not the Daily Telegraph) you will know about Snowden so the spoilers in the trailer are already common knowledge.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is outstanding as Snowden and Shailene Woodley is outstanding as the love interest. Reviews are mixed for this based on true events film, but I guess that's Snowden so view him as a traitor some feel he is a Maverick and the one truthful man that was trying to keep America and the Western World "safe".

This film was extremely interesting and real edge of your seat cinema. I throughly enjoyed this film and after the wonders of Don't Breathe despite the School Holidays rolling around I am on a good streak of films.

I won't bang on too much about this film as there is a lot about Snowden out there so if your keen to learn more go give this a go! 4 handsome as Stars for Joseph, hubba hubba!

How to Get Away with Murder Season 3.

How to Get Away with Murder opened with an impressive season 3 opener this week. From Shonda Rhimes the creator of HUGE US hits like Grey's Anatomy (and it's former spin off Private Practice), The Catch & Scandal, HTGAWM a bonified camp thriller.

With it's flicking back and forth story lines enough to make anyone motion sick.

Shonda has a flashy way with her shows and casts brilliant actors and equally brilliant characters for her viewers to love, hate or lust after.

How to Get Away With Murder is a far superior show to The Catch, fresher than Grey's and Scandal is great but man those seasons are long.

It feels like Shonda has hit the nail on the head with this one and Season Three is shaping up to be another delicious camp ride.

With make ups, break ups and another mystery this season set a cracking pace from the opening moments and can I just say, I'm Excited!

ABC (in the US) has struck gold with the Thank God It's Thursday programming (Australian programmers take note) with back to back drama, drama, drama!

With brilliant mid season fillers and a strong line ABC has gold on it's hands on Thursday night and young Shonda is just kicking goals all the way to the AFL grand final.

I am a huge fan of this show and if your looking for your next binge fest, here ya go!

That Movie Gay #2016

Here is one for the end of year list, DON'T BREATHE is easily one of the best thrillers of 2016.

I am unfamiliar with the entire cast but who needs familiar when all the main characters were outstanding. The suspense was off the hook and the film got to the point in what felt like no time.

Clocking in it 88 minutes there was no hanging around like a fart in a lift.

Don't Breathe is a breathe of fresh air to the cinema, with horror seeming a little stale with remakes/reboots of the Blair Witch and the Rings series on the way or now screening.

Also with School Holidays on in a second the cinemas will be filled with little grubs and shitty films. Thank god for Snowden being released this week.

Don't Breathe is nothing short of wonderful and I have to say a big props to Fede Alvarez for producing, directing and writing this near perfect film.

100% enjoyable and a good old fashioned thriller, Don't Breathe rates highly with me and I give it 4.5 blindingly good stars.

Scream Queens | Season Two

How did Ryan Murphy get a second season for Scream Queens? I ask that question and I was a fan of Season One. To say this is the most camp show on TV over taking American Horror Story: Hotel with Gaga and his previous Glee outings would be an understatement.

Scream Queens season one wasn't a ratings hit but online fans were loud and extremely proud. It was a hit for young ladies and gays so I guess advertisers are happy to reach out to young ladies with credit cards and gays with double income no children households.

This season started in a bizarre manner but the addition of Stamos, Alley and that hunk from Twilight made for interesting viewing.

Emma Roberts again is outstanding and I do hope this show gains more traction however this review is a little scathing.

See you round.

Mistresses (U.S. TV series)

After four camp seasons and keeping up with fellow camp US Drama Devious Maids, Mistresses wrapped on 6 September 2016.

The latest and last season of Mistresses was an average ride with last seasons new awesome foursome member leaving after one season and one of the originals also dying dramatically.

The Summer has been cruel in the USA and I have a feeling the axe will fall fast on some of the new US shows launches this week. Scream Queens, Gotham, Empire, The Blacklist and Quantico all return for me this week. Joining American Horror Story and Blindspot I have a lot on my plate now.

I am keen to watch my little Ray Donovan finale shortly and next Monday The Rock's Ballers will wrap up season 2.

So back to Mistresses, it's not really with a heavy heart that this show is now off my roster. Alyssa Milano really was missed and the filming moving from LA to Vancouver and back again, girl, it was all over the shop!

With the dodgy Australian characters and so many babies the show was a little less Mistresses and more like Mommies by the end.

Up next more TV reviews..

Showtime fails with another lame Cameron Crowe effort

Cameron Crowe delivered one of the worst films of the modern day in Aloha. Critically panned and a box office bomb Aloha had film fans and critics universally saying WHAT THE FUCK.

Now Showtime (the network that has spawned a shit load of hits) are asking WHY THE FUCK?

Just because a man created Jerry Maguire (back in 1996 I might add) this does not mean a man should gain a golden ticket to produce any old shit. And that is what Roadies was for the network with Homeland, Dexter, Shameless and Ray Donovan on it's books.

Showtime should have known better this series rated appallingly and had zero buzz despite the big team behind it.

Summer has not been kind this year killing off camp dramas like Devious Maids and Mistresses after four years and ABC had no luck with former Gossip Girl stars with two bombs Blood & Oil and Wicked City.

Summer also has farewelled some HBO series like Vinyl (after initially renewing it), Togetherness and Looking with a TV movie.

It looks like the TV version of Scream will also see it's final outing with a Halloween TV movie and Hit the Floor also screened a wedding TV movie.

Cameron Crowe, maybe move over mate and give some new folk a go, cause mate your shit does stink, bad.

Doctor, Doctor is...

Australian TV at it's worst. Uninspired, dull and to be brutally honest this may be fundamentally another hospital drama but I feel the health of this show is on the verge of flatlining.

Opening up to below 800,000 viewers is not ideal in Aussie TV terms, putting it into perspective, this show was the 11th most watched show of the night behind the ABC news, The Block, the finale of Offspring (another lacklustre Aussie drama which may be getting the chop) and the penultimate episode of the Bachelor.

I always request more drama on Australian TV however if this is all we have to offer, maybe fast track the new USA fall seasons of their hit dramas.

The Wrong Girl the latest Jessica Marais drama vehicle launches on Network Ten 28 September and hopefully has more legs than this Roger Corser drama.

Doctor Doctor has a good cast and Nicole DeSilva is one of my favourite Wentworth babes but this show does not give her anywhere near the material she has to work with on the Foxtel hit series.

I am not sure how quickly Nine will rush Doctor Doctor to wrap up after a less than groundbreaking Love Child Season.

Channel Nine has some soul searching to do in it's drama department, with House Husbands rested until 2017 and only having one of it's last season being watch by a million plus, it's time to some serious questions.

Doctor Doctor airs on Wednesday nights up against some fierce competition on ABC and the other free to air networks.

That Movie Gay #2016

Finally! back to the movies and what NERVE I have had not attending a film in what feels like weeks on end (or at sea).

Straight up Emma Roberts and Dave Franco are banging and work perfectly together. Not to mention the expectational soundtrack which blasts through this tight little thriller. At just over 90 minutes you don't have a minute to be bored in this terrific film.

Unfortunately it's down to limited sessions now as we headed into a time parents hate and non parents hate even more, it's fucking school holidays again.

Supported by some Orange is the New Black folks and so nice to see the dreamy Samira Wiley on the big screen. Juliette Lewis also plays Roberts mother in a smaller role.

I have to say I longed to return to the cinema and this was just what I need, brilliant, 4 Stars.

American Horror Story | Season Six

How is it Season Six of American Horror Story already. I clearly remember when Season One (AKA Murder House) commenced.

Now in it's sixth cycle this anthology series introduces us to Sarah Paulson and Cuba Gooding Jr. (both fresh from American Crime Story) in this mysterious and new storyline. Also with the added doco feel American Horror Story in it's sixth year has recreated itself.

From arch enemies in American Crime Story to husband and wife team Paulson and Gooding are fab together and I honestly feel this is the best American Horror Story in a while. Whilst I did enjoy Hotel and the creation of Lady Gaga as a killing machine and parts of Coven and Freak Show were fun, this is a step up in Ryan Murphy's TV empire.

Next week we will also see the much anticipated return of Scream Queens another one of Murphy's camp hits.

Unlike previous seasons Roanoke will not over stay it's welcome at a lean 10 episodes, something I am very proud to say is a good move. 13 episodes of Asylum and Coven saw things get almighty fucked up (and not in a good way).

I am interested to see where Roanoke and Kathy Bates are going this time around, also interesting to see where Lady Gaga will fit into the mix.

American Horror Story Season Six, a welcome and triumphant return!

The Rise & Rise of Team Idiot

Oh Australia WHY!

Even Pauline had a gut full...

That said Pauline thinks Australia is an Islamic swamp, although I thought we were an Asian swamp? I don't know what is a swamp anymore Pauline, please explain??

Thanks Bill for giving us the term Team Idiot, cause mate being frank we are becoming team idiot thanks QLD for voting for these goons, isn't it all about Peace, Love, Unity & Respect, not isolating and targeting societies most vulnerable? Actually that might remove them from team idiot so lets leave them there for now and hopefully Australians can see this is not the way forward.

Yes Julia G coined the term, moving forward and that's where we need to move FORWARD, not North to QLD unless Katter gets his way and QLD can be split in two.

The Code - Season Two

I'm really impressed by the sophomore season of ABC's the Code. After an OK first season which I struggled at times to follow, two episodes in I am already hooked on the Code.

With Canberra and parts of West Papua as a backdrop like the Kettering Incident we see a side of Australia unless we are a Federal MP or public servant most Aussies don't see.

Canberra is one of those places, hot as fuck in Summer and as cold as ice in Winter. Not desirable in my books.

The Code has a great cast (always a great start) and a thrilling and compelling new storyline this season. No spoilers but in my eyes this season is a lot more thrilling than season one.

Two episodes in (with a third to air this Thursday) and I am ready to get my mid way fix this week.

As the USA shows for Summer either wrap up and the 2016-2017 season shows are incoming, it's that nice period where I can catch up on some new or shows I missed.

The Code is perfect for this in-between period.

The Code airs on Thursday on ABC or anytime on the brilliant iView. NOT A SPONSORED POST

Back on Shore {with Complimentary Sea Legs}

After four nights at Seas, little internet access and a load of time at the buffet I am finally back on dry land.

Yes SYD > MORETON ISLAND is finally a distant memory and I can easily cross off cruise ships on my bucket list.

I also discovered I have some of the most interesting friends because a lot of my fellow ship mates seemed happy with two things, buffets and alcohol. Or just plain alcohol. Australians seem to have become obsessed with alcohol and a holiday cannot be a holiday without it.

Kinda sad really but look each to their own and after hearing some of their conversations, I would probably drink too.

It's not all bad though as honestly one of my favourite moments was a nine year old girl, hand on hips saying "Mum you are SOOOOO drunk" and looking absolutely disgusted. Maybe there is hope for our next generation. That said with role models like this?

I found sea life and being on a ship simply easy as, waking up to the sun drifting in through the curtains, doing a morning stretch class, eating at the buffet, doing an activity, eating at the buffet, having a cup of green tea and a chocolate chip cookie, doing an activity, having dinner, watching comedy or a really bad 80's show, then bed.

Then rinse and repeat.

New day, some routine, no stress (except over the coffee line, those poor Indo guys and girls - Carnival really need to train them better) and no dramas.

I see why so many old folks and families love these holidays, the staff on board (excluding one grumpy personal trainer - who would prefer to be anywhere else in the world other than on the love ship) were great and activities were mostly fun and varied.

I must say though arriving back in Sydney we do have a beautiful city to call home here, despite some agro people and some serve attitude Sydney is pretty hard to beat.

Atlanta.

Donald Glover (AKA the delightful Childish Gambino) delivers again with this fun new 20 minute FX series.

I'm almost through the first two episodes and I am already enjoying this music drama/comedy set in well Atlanta.

Receiving critical acclaim already this could be one of the shows of the 2016-2017 US season to watch.

Glover belongs on screen and is beyond handsome. His recent musical efforts are brilliant and apparently we are about to see a change in direction for the young man > More Here

I look forward to next week to see episode three, still to come this season is new musical drama STAR which will feature Lenny Kravitz.

I'm Calling it...

SIA must clean up at this years ARIA Awards in November. SIA has released one of the best albums of 2016 (in fact there is only one album as top notch as hers, Flume's amazing second release Skin) and now she teams up with Kendrick Lamar.

After Cheap Thrills has hit number one in the USA & Canada Sia is Australia's best female artists right now. And really since her breakthrough second album in 2001 Healing is Difficult Sia has been on the up and up.

When Breathe Me was used during Six Feet Under's fantastic finale, the writing was on the wall, Sia is a gosh damn star.

Now in 2016 The Greatest is heartfelt and another unstoppable anthem as we head into Summer 2016/2017.

The artist video featured yesterday, the tribute to Orlando, Sia is perfection.

Sia I have loved you for 15 years but honestly you are on top of your game right about now.

Another brilliant effort from Australia's best export, thanks Sia.

One album already this year and already SHE is BACK..

With NEW music, I'm talking about out GIRL SIA, normally music posts are reserved for Flashing off the Record, but I'm busy focusing on Safia's debut album Internal as the feature this week.

A couple of instant news articles are MOIST for this new amazing jam. God love SIA.

That Netflix Gay #2016

So Netflix along with it's brilliant range of original series is also branching out and bringing some exciting new feature films and recently, XOXO was released on the streaming service.

Starring the best thing Murder in the First season 3 has going for it Ian Anthony Dale (hottest mix ever English x Japanese x French decent - HOT) this film is similar to the recent Zac Efron We Are Your Friends. Despite a small release and the use of a catchy Justice vs Simian song from 2006 as a film title this film never really went to the Zac Efron masses.

This film however with Netflix's large reach, released around the time of the Get Down and Narcos (2 hugely hyped series) will reach many millions more worldwide, also at a tenth of the cost to punters.

So my Netflix via my sister in laws log in (legal) costs her $10 a month (AUD) whereas the cheapest I can get to the cinema in Sydney is $11 via Optus Perks. So value for more plus is our Netflix.

Back to the film and EDM music has never reached the heights of RnB, Hip Hop, Cock Rock and Christian/Country crossovers in the USA but the festivals and artists like Flume, Steve Aoki, Avicii and others are seeing dance music make American radio playlists.

Unlike Australia and the UK where dance songs are frequently topping the iTunes charts (this year alone songs from DJ Snake, Flume, The Chainsmokers, Major Lazer, Calvin Harris and more have topped the Aussie charts) the USA is more into their Drake's and various other auto tune kings n queens.

XOXO is nothing new, it's a bit of fun and does not outstay it's welcome at 90 minutes, I am a little more interested in watching the film Tallulah (which below receives a solid review) but still this was fun with some nice eye and some Flume/Eliza Doolittle on the soundtrack. Pete Tong is all across the music supervision and the soundtrack is a lot of fun.

Overall it took me back to my festival going days, 3 Stars for the streaming giants take on EDM.

Luke Nguyen invites you for some Street Food

Asian Style!

Luke Nguyen is only four years older than me but shit he puts me to shame, restaurant owner, serious celebrity chef (no reality show help, here), TV presenter and cooking reality show go to for a guest chef.

Luke's new show is all about street food and travels from Saigon to Jakarta and beyond. The first episode was great and took me back to my recent trip to Saigon, Vietnam.

Luke Nguyen is an Australian legend and a real success story to shame the likes of that vile Pauline Hanson.

Luke is extremely well spoken and has such warmth with his presenting style that makes his Thursday food shows on SBS an easy viewing experience. Several shows in (Luke Nguyen's Vietnam, Luke Nguyen's France, Luke Nguyen's United Kingdom and also an appearance on Vietnams Masterchef) Luke seems to have found comfort in being in front of the camera. His style and dress sense is casual and gets the younger market giving SBS a go.

With just over 150,000 live viewers this week his shows aren't a massive hit but I'm sure on SBS Demand and DVD sales Luke's shows do ok, or he wouldn't be making his sixth or seventh series.

Luke I am proud of your achievements and you are a fine young man, well done for getting someone like me, who hates cooking and can't stand being in the kitchen any longer than it takes for my Nespresso to be ready.
