Animal Kingdom Season 4.

It's back the Australian movie turned US summer TV series, Animal Kingdom.

After what feels like a lifetime away from our Netflix stream, season four has now started. The Cody family is back at it again and this time someone close to them is talking to the DEA.

We have a swag of new characters joining the show this season and I for one am looking forward to all the action and seeing where Deran and Adrian's relationship will go. I reviewed the show last season HERE, so if you are new to Animal Kingdom, make sure you start at the beginning. Better yet do yourself a favour and see the original Australian film.

Animal Kingdom, streams week to week on Netflix in Australia and TNT in the USA. I for one am hoping to get off to a movie or two this weekend, it feels like it's been forever since I have hit up the cinema.

But for now, Animal Kingdom has had another successful season launch maybe leading the network to renewing the show for a fifth time around? Fingers crossed.

Wentworth Season 7.

Australian TV biggest drama is back and back with a mother flipping bang!

Following a semi lacklustre season six without the wonderful Freak, Bea Smith not to mention Franky Doyle's all of a sudden wrap up. I did however find the show still pushed a lot of Australian TV boundaries, had some wonderful issues it tackled but what felt like Liz, Boomer and a number of other characters stories coming to an end what would the future hold for H Block.

Wentworth however has bounced back, Susie Porter as Marie Winter is growing on me, she is evil but in a darker and more calculated way. Not as in your face as The Freak.

Rita (Leah Purcell) and Ruby (Rarriwuy Hick) now have a massive task on their hands, getting even with Marie.

Allie is just hanging around while Marie is playing her on the inside whilst also have the strange relationship with maybe new Gov, Will Jackson. Easily the most easy on the eye character on Wentworth Robbie J Magasiva is delicious.

Jake Stewart is still annoying whilst a new male lead has joined the staff at Wentworth, David de Lautour as Dr. Greg Miller. He is creepy and could be a new villain, not sure yet.

Tuesday nights are finally warming up and I love it. Well done again Foxtel, season six as a whole was not the heights of earlier seasons, however this season after a brilliant recap of season six is shaping up to be something special.

Bring on Marie vs Rita and Ruby, what is with Dr. Greg Miller and will Vera have a boy or girl? Actually who cares about that, will Will Jackson actually become the Gov? Or will he resign? So much going on, not to mention with numbers of 89,000 tuning in for episode one, the second most watched show on all of Foxtel on Tuesday night, we should be getting more Wentworth for years to come.

Dynasty (2017 TV series), Season 2, review II

Like Killing Eve's finale (review/post yesterday) the last few episodes of Dynasty seem to have gone very fast. Maybe cause it's uploaded on Saturday's in Australia on Netflix (this will continue for season 3 as The CW has already paired it with Charmed, Fridays in the US) and my weekends are busy!

So Dynasty had a fire of all fires to end season one, season two however pulled the other soap card, a wedding, well of sorts.

Missing in action firstly for the finale -

Alexis Carrington
Steven Carrington

So what's the deal with Steven, is he out for good? Who will play Alexis Carrington in season three? Please, please, please not Fallon anymore!

Or will Alexis die under the knife getting her second new face after being burned in the fire place? Yes that's an actual plot from season two. LOL

Dynasty is a worldwide camp success, it's it's local country of the USA it's one of the most unpopular network series. It was a surprise pick up for a third season. Similar to last year people were surprised it was to return. However The CW renewed it's entire roster, from popular to not popular at all, like Dynasty.

I'm sure on Netflix and worldwide this show is a hit in it's own camp rights.

So a full, intense, recap of episode 22 of season 2 can be found HERE for now here are burning questions...

a. Liam, do we want him alive or dead?

b. What on Earth is going on with Sammy and the hotel and Anders? Is Sammy into older gentlemen from NZ?

c. Will Jeff Colby be back from his "trip"?

d. Is Dominique Deveraux the season three villain?

e. Online Adam is not popular as the season two villain will he end up being removed from the Carrington pond too?

f. Who was the male corpses in the pond? Did I miss something?

g. What will happen after Trixie is dug up from the pond?

h. Will Monica have a bigger part of season three? Does Fallon even still talk to her?

OK so season three will most likely be back in October. I personally would prefer a third tight thirteen episode season instead of twenty two all over the shop episodes.

Can't wait for this to be loaded up to my Netflix, displaying New Episodes Added on the Dynasty tile, YASS!

Killing Eve | Season 2 Finale

Blockbuster series Game of Thrones and Veep are over forever now, so it's time to discover the next big cult sensation. Killing Eve last year had a good go at some of the awards, it got the critics on side and fans enjoyed the cat and mouse of Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer.

Now in it's second season the lesbian/lusty random desire of Eve's (Oh) for killer Villanelle (Comer) has gone into overdrive.

Lives are on the line at the end of the season and you are left wondering, how did this eight episode BBC America series come and go so fast!

Don't get me wrong an eight/ten episode show is 100% perfect these days. I am currently watching The Society on Netflix and with ten episodes this is 100% doable over the quieter US TV months.

So there is an insanely good full recap HERE of the finale however my thoughts on the finale and season two -

a. It went hella fast, the pace was swift and the way seasons one and two flowed was genius.

b. What about Hugo?

c. What about Eve? It's like a role reversal of last season, Villanelle stabbed in a room, now Eve shot lying on the ground? What's Killing Eve less Eve, Killing?

d. When will season three be here? As per these two seasons, my guess is early April 2020. Wow 2020 that sounds weird!

e. ABC iView is killing it (no pun intended) with it's roster of local and international shows.

f. The finale really was a good episode after a few dud ones, so at least the last memory was rather sweet.

So overall I want more, in a crowded market of current finales this was fairly decent. Tomorrow my review of the scandalous Dynasty finale.

RE: Five Bedrooms

Only in my last post I was WAY harsh on Five Bedrooms the new drama on Channel Ten Wednesday nights. So I had a flight to the beautiful NT, Uluru precisely, I needed entertainment so I had the second episode to watch and well. It was marginally better than the first.

It did as expected however slide in the ratings (although I think Dramas generally do better on catch up, in this case Ten Play) from 507K viewers to 428K viewers. Not as bad as Mr Black episode one (471K) Vs episode two (278K).

Channel Ten however has a problem, they need another Offspring, Playing for Keeps was camp, fun, but with a murder mystery that was 100% unnecessary with the bed hopping and on field (AFL) dramas.

I can't even go there with 10 All Access, there streaming competition to Netflix and Stan which is just lame. The single show they are asking people to fork out $9.99 a month is a remake of The Twilight Zone. In the USA the CBS (Ten's owner) has 4 million subscribers from a country with over 330 million folks. With that strike rate 10 All Access would be like to have 40 paid subscribers.

You can check out the naff page HERE.

To news on Channel Ten, where they have limited shows, no breakfast TV show, just Studio Ten with racist and over the top Kerri Anne Kennel Dog barking down the camera, Ita must be thrilled she jumped ship to a top job at the ABC.

Meanwhile the Project which is the nightly dogs breakfast maybe losing Waleed Aly to Q&A. Yes the ABC has not only had it's top jobs up for re-hire all over SEEK but the following top jobs needed replacing -

Insiders, Sunday Morning host, David Speers (maybe) to take Barrie Cassidy's place.

ABC Melbourne Breakfast Radio host, Virginia Trioli to take Jon Faine's controversial role. Making a spot on the ABC News Breakfast IKEA couch available, most likely for Lisa Millar.

Q&A host, likely to be Waleed Aly leaving the project with expensive host Lisa Wilkinson.

You can see why SKY news are pissed losing only one of their moderate presenters, Channel Ten losing one of their most shared YouTube contributors through Aly's monologues on The Project and the remainder of the Project hosts not looking too pissed at how much Lisa Wilkinson is getting paid for almost being a part time employee.

I found this as well this morning, the Top 100 USA shows of the 2018-2019 season. Unfortunately one of my favourites (definite favourite finales) has been canned. It got into the 100 (just) so I do hope Netflix can help me, Brandy and the cast out and get Star back on the air, please! Pretty please?

Final note on TV, huge returns soon as follows -

Animal Kingdom - Season 4, Netflix (I hope), Tuesday 28 May

Wentworth - Season 7 (yes 7!, 8th in 2020), Foxtel, Tuesday 28 May

Swamp Thing - Season 1, episode one, unsure in Australia where, Friday 31 May

Fear the Walking Dead - Season 5 (and last????), Australian time on Monday 3 June, Foxtel

The Handmaids Tale - Season 3, first three episodes on SBS on Demand, Thursday 6 JUNE (like the character, June)

Big Little Lies - Season 2, Australian time on Monday 10 June, Foxtel

Pose - Season 2, Australian time on Wednesday 12 June, Foxtel

Stranger Things - Season 3, Netflix, Friday 5 July, 8 episode season, all episodes

Who needs to leave the house this Winter right?

Until next time, goodbye from the NT, like the ad C U in the NT....

Five Bedrooms

Airing tonight for it's second episode how many viewers will Five Bedrooms shed? Reaching (live on Wednesday evening last week) just over half a million viewers, this show is the second new drama series Ten have given us recently.

Mr Black does not interest me in the slightest but this looked OK. However it's really not. I am unsure I will even bother to have this on in the background whilst I do washing or cut my toe nails.

Diversity is barely covered off with this new series. Unlike Playing for Keeps which somehow got a second series, I am almost positive this will be another Australian drama series to just do one lone season. Look some one season wonders in Australia like Ten's past failures Secrets and Lies and Sisters have been shipped off to the USA to get made into a US version.

Secrets and Lies actually got to a second series, Sisters is coming to FOX this coming US TV season,  has been retitled, Not Just Me.

How will this go? Time will tell.

But for now, Five Bedrooms sadly is one to avoid.

Five Bedrooms airs tonight on Channel Ten.

Cinema Slut #2019 - Burning

Have you ever gone into a film, not watched the trailer, read the synopsis or even recall what the films poster looks like? Well that was me, with Burning and man was I happy I went in, knowing it was -

a. Korean
b. a Thriller

And yes that is all!

Burning is honestly one of the best mind fuck films I have ever seen. The Walking Dead's Steven Yuen is perfect in the role as Ben. Yoo Ah-in as Lee Jong-su is amazing as is the third main role Jeon Jong-seo as Shin Hae-mi.

The three of them, lead this edge of the seat major thrill ride across parts of South Korea, from Gangnam to Paju.

I don't want to talk about the plot as it's massive, it is however a very slow build, the start of the film takes it time for you to care about both Hae-mi and Jong-su. But once you turn the corner and the plot thickens with Ben added to the mix, this is a A+ thriller!

I loved this film, 4.5 Stars! Also the nightclub scene, that song, what a banger!

(Mini) Sunday Spotlight: Crooked Colours

Crooked Colours made up of Philip Slabber, Leon De Baughn and Liam Merrett-Park have just released their highly anticipated sophomore album Langata, this Friday past.

After bursting onto the dance floor back in 2013, Crooked Colours have toured all around the country throughout April and May 2019. After playing stages across the country for St. Jerome's Laneway Festival, the group also headed to regional Australia with Groovin’ The Moo, then onto their biggest headline shows to date.

Without further ado on this rather somber Sunday morning in Australia. Over on my other music blog, we have celebrated EP feature week all week, whilst later today we will celebrate our fabulous Eurovision entrant Kate Miller-Heidke on the Sunday Spotlight.

For now, let's discover your next favourite new artist, it's Crooked Colours.

Cinema Slut #2019 - John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum

Keanu Reeves is back! His comeback in the John Wick action series continues with the bloody and dog friendly John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum.

I loved the first film, same story different year with the second chapter with it scoring a big fresh 4/5, so how does chapter three stack up? Check out the trailer first!

Halle Berry and Anjelica Huston join the ranks whilst Asia Kate Dillion (Billions) plays a total bad ass. Much like in Billions, just with more deadly friends and less finance talk.

This film is slick with the best action sequences you will ever see on the big screen. Each John Wick film they up the game, this time there is horse's kicking ass (literally), motorbikes, Halle Berry and 2 German Shepherds and so much more.

No spoilers this is bad ass, it's so much fun with a huge body count to boot.

Keanu making these films his comeback is so great. Keanu was born to wear a suit, run a muck and basically deliver some damn fine cheesy dialogue!

Okay this is easily the best film released this week, it's a nice, more adult adventure following Avengers with a cult following desperate to see this latest John Wick tale. A spin off is apparently in the works and I feel one part of the film really set that up. Not to mention a fourth chapter is also being talked about.

OK, I enjoyed the film a lot, it's a little long, but the well choreographed action scenes keep you paying full attention. 4 Stars, matching chapter 2.

Cinema Slut #2019 - The Hustle

Have you ever rocked up at the movies and on the spot, changed your mind, you went into to see one thing and end up seeing another. Well that was me last night.

The Hustle was not my first choice last night, however I added another $40 to the box office of this struggling comedy starring Aussie giggle pot Rebel Wilson.

I did intend on seeing John Wick 3 (hold onto you hats, review hopefully coming over the weekend) however session times and life just got in the way. So The Hustle is it as bad as the critics say? Yes and no.

It's really a simple film whilst after seeing the musical Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (which this is based, just flipping it to female leads) I could see exactly where this was going.

Anne Hathaway is not one of my favourites on the big screen and Rebel Wilson literally from the opening scene does Rebel Wilson. At least after the brilliant Veep finished this week, we did get to see Jonah Ryan AKA Timothy Simons being well, a dick (very Jonah like) as you get the drift of the entire film in the opening scene.

Look it's a bit funny and awkward in parts and I did laugh, however it's a also mostly lame. 2.5 passing (just) stars, definitely not going to soar at the box office, but it was a nice Thursday evening escape as out former leader and beer loving legend Bob Hawke passed. RIP Bob.

(Not at the) Cinema Slut #2019 - Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile

Zac Efron is a babe, yes but can he save my second Netflix original film?

Short answer NO. Based on memoir The Phantom Prince: My Life with Ted Bundy, Efron stars as Bundy whilst the film is told via the point of view from Elizabeth Kendall (Lily Collins).

The world is obsessed by true crime and honestly I knew little about Ted Bundy except he was bad, real bad.

The movie at times almost pleads Bundy's innocence, whilst at times the pacing is really off, then it seems to end rather abruptly.

The reviews are slightly mixed for this crime film and honestly with so much else on Netflix this is just for Efron fans.

Put it on your list but save it for a rainy day. We are in peak US TV finale gold at present, Game of Thrones ending in less than a week, Riverdale on Netflix concluding for the third season tomorrow and The Blacklist about to wrap on the weekend.

Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile is not shocking, nor that interesting, 2.5 stars, yes it just passes, Efron does do a good job.

(Not at the) Cinema Slut #2019 - Wine Country

Ok I usually, like 90% of the time avoid Netflix movies, after Wine Country I know why. On paper directed by Amy Poehler, directorial debut, starring Maya Rudolph, Rachel Dratch, Ana Gasteyer, Paula Pell, Emily Spivey, Jason Schwartzman and Tina Fey sounds Ok right, no.

Like Poms it focuses on ageing, fuck that topic. After Bridesmaids, Sisters, Spy and other recent female lead comedies, this is not on Bridesmaids level. Actually it's on straight for streaming level.

Released for streaming on May 10, 2019, by Netflix, this is an easy forgettable film. As it's at the end of the US TV season for 2018-2019 (almost) I have some spare time on my dance card, so I have given a few Netflix produced films a go. Stay tuned for more reviews.

Sometimes it's good just to watch something brief, easy going without a high level of investment in a 13 times 1 hour episode series.

Wine Country, is something to be avoided unless you really have nothing else to watch. 2 Stars, mainly for the potential it had to be funny.

(Mini) Sunday Spotlight: Hein Cooper

Hein Cooper's second album Underneath it All will be out mid next month, on Friday he gave us the next taste, Hijack. You can check out the video below as well as checking out a number of hits below.

Hein Cooper (like a lot of (Mini) Sunday Spotlight artists) started out on Triple J Unearthed. Uploading his first track in 2015, Cooper from Illawarra, NSW has released a number of catchy radio gems.

Hear My Voice is a catchy, chilled jam which gathered Cooper a number of fans and radio play alike. I am looking forward to this second album landing after a number of sweet samples from the record. Hijack is the latest followed by Like That, Hear My Voice, Fear of Missing Out and Over Again.

So on this Mother's Day for 2019, discover your next favourite artist, add his songs to you Spotify or Apple Music libraries and chill, it's Sunday after all.

Cinema Slut #2019 - Poms

Who has time for movies in 2019? Baby Boomers, bring on the latest movie aimed at cashed up folks with time on their hands, I present to you Poms.

No, not English oldies like the god awful Swimming with Men, Poms is about cheerleading within a retirement village. Yes you heard right, within a southern American over 55 community, Diane Keaton and Jacki Weaver get their pom poms on.

Diane Keaton as Martha is really unlikeable for a large chunk of the movie, however with time you begin to slowly like her. Jacki Weaver is the most likeable and rogue (all at once) member of the cheer troupe and supporting roles like Phyllis Somerville (The Big C) and Alisha Boe (13 Reasons Why) add something to the film as well.

It is very predictable in parts, slightly irritating as well and at times the jokes fall flat AF.

Poms is the latest in my tour of feel good films of late (see Top End Wedding and Long Shot reviews) so unfortunately this film does have stiff competition. It is sadly the most non feel good film of all three however the ending is fun.

It gets better as the film goes on, however like Swimming with Men, it makes you really never want to get old. It's kind of like, this is the shit your in for in your later years. Also it's America and Keaton was a school teacher in a previous life, how does she live in a fancy AF over 55 folk village? Slight detail.

Those slight details keep coming up.

OK, it's not all bad but it's not great either, I'll pass it at 2.5 Stars.

Star, Finale (2019)

SPOILER ALERT AHEAD!

Last year the season finale had some big moments (recap of season two finale here) but this season, it was wild!

Okay yesterday I talked about the already renewed Empire season five snoozrfest finale, now it's time for Lee Daniels Star show. Ok so we did see Jahil's ghost at the start of season three, however all can be forgiven as the show just went from strength to strength in season three.

Unfortunately a fourth season is not on the cards (yet) however I feel the show has performed well on FOX and without much each happening at the station, we could see another season yet.

OK recap, so Game of Thrones had it's own red wedding, now Alex Crane has had her red wedding moment. But first RIP Miss Ruby, that scene was brutal, it was raw, rough and hammered home Star's stand on gun violence, it's wrong and change is required, NOW!

The wedding which we waited for during the ASA's, bachelor party and a few other loose ends being tied up. However the wedding and the less few scenes were intense. Alex's stalker returned after a romp with Derek the night before, but then gun men again take fire.

This year Brandy AKA Cassie Brown was shot, lying in Queen Latifah's arms, newcomer for the season may only last one season Mateo was also shot as was Angel after surviving a car bomb the week prior. Drama!

If all this sounds like Game of Thrones, well it felt like it. Star and Noah also returned to find their baby missing and newcomer Jackson on the floor, maybe dead too. WTF so many lives in the balance, can we please get season four? Please FOX?

Upfronts for the US networks happen soon, so the wait shouldn't be too intense, however for now, please more Star, please!

Here are some outstanding performances from this season, it's not all drama but music too -

Empire, Finale (2019)

Empire was once one of the most watched shows on US television, the FOX network had a pure hit on it's hands. Like the previous music drama Glee, Empire was also making money out of soundtracks and music releases as well as other TV income.

However in the past few years Empire has gone off the rails a bit. Well this season it's publicly gone off the rails.

Last year I was rather impressed with the fourth seasons finale, it had some major departures, this season we saw a body/or a coffin all season long, in the eighteenth episode of the season, we find out who the body is!

SHOCK horror, it's no major character, however due to real world drama Jamal is OUT, and has been since his wedding.

Jamal is not set to return to season six which was very recently renewed however I am not sure why. Ratings have crashed this year, the early comments about the season five finale are not overly friendly as it was a VERY tidy finale. One death leads into one major characters luck.

The whole Jamal MIA with some storm hitting was handled in an interesting manner and with Becky and Giselle off to a new venture where will this see Cookie? Where is Lucious off to? Do any viewers till care?

With Star hanging in the balance on FOX will some cast members join Empire if it gets the axe? What will the Star final bring, let me get to that next along with some more TV finales coming as below -

Veep, this coming Monday (Sunday 12 May in the USA) - Last EVER episode!

9-1-1, Monday 13 May (USA), Season three starts later this year, already renewed.

The Flash, Tuesday 14 May (USA), Season Six returns later this year, already renewed, with Batwoman joining the Arrowverse. Go Ruby Rose!

Riverdale, Wednesday 15 May (USA), Season four incoming later this year, spin off Katy Keene featuring Josie also landing in the 2019-2020 TV season on The CW. Will it air on Netflix in Australia?

Station 19, Thursday 16 May (USA), renewal in waiting. However it's been a hit in it's second season. I expect like Grey's Anatomy, it'll be back in September.

The Blacklist, Friday 17 May (USA), on Netflix in Australia, a little delayed. NBC has given The Blacklist a seventh season, commencing TBA.

Barry, Sunday 19 May (USA), Already renewed on HBO for a third season, maybe it should be it's last.

Sunday 19 May (USA) is not only Barry's finale on HBO, but Game of Thrones will air for the final time EVER! Spin off's are in the works but will they get as many viewers as this huge blockbuster? Supergirl also wraps on The CW, renewed already for a fifth season.

Legends of Tomorrow, Monday 20 May (USA), returns for a fifth season in the near distant future.

Dynasty, Friday 24 May (USA), wraps it's bat shit crazy second season and will return for another at some stage. Why this got a third season I will never know? However if anything it's a camp and wild even at times stupid ride.

Killing Eve, Sunday 26 May (USA), wraps it's second tough season, it'll be back for a third in due course.

Blindspot, Friday 31 May (USA), surely the third season will be the final. It's been bumped to the end of the month. Blindspot airs it's final two episodes at the very end of May. Signs are not looking good the tattoos will see a fourth outing.

Bring on the US TV Summer Season for 2019!

Cinema Slut #2019 - Top End Wedding

Miranda Tapsell is the shit, she wrote and stars in the most beautiful Australian film of 2019, Top End Wedding.

Mixed with a fun AF Janet Jackson dance routine on a hens night out, the beautiful NT (remember the campaign C U in the NT, well this does one better), a talented cast and so many beautiful scenes of family, love and of course a wedding.

Top End Wedding is a feel good, fun loving under two hour Australian masterpiece. This is an accessible Australian film that will appeal far and wide. It tells a beautiful tale of Lauren (Tapsell) and her self discovery. Her love for husband to be Ned (Gwilym Lee) and a beautiful trip home with her mother.

I can't say enough good things about this film, it's beautiful, looks a million bucks and unlike Wolf Creek this will make people want to go to the NT.

I loved this film, it's amazing, 4.5 up north stars. YASS!

(Mini) Sunday Spotlight: Ruby Fields

From her early days on Triple J Unearthed, Ruby Fields artist has won over her fans with some wonderful indie anthems.

Out of Sydney Ruby released her second EP Permanent Hermit on Friday. Featuring the monster hit Dinosaur and new single Climate, Ruby has been a Triple J Hottest 100 darling, a touring champion playing South by Southwest and Laneway Festival this year.

Also touring with fellow indie favourites Ball Park Music and San Cisco, Ruby has visited so much of this wide brown land known as Australia.

I predict big things for Ruby Fields, so if you haven't caught her on the radio, a streaming service playlist, YouTube or a music nerds blog (like mine) check out some visuals and her new EP streaming below.

Cinema Slut #2019 - Long Shot

Charlize Theron, legend, Seth Rogen, a funny bastard, combine the two and this is what a rom com is like in 2019.

Add in a million pop culture and current political reference, you get Long Shot. Landing a week after The Avengers, we see a star studded political rom com land and man this is funny.

From diary meets the environment jokes, great music, Boy II Men, Lisa Kudrow, Randall Park (aka sex on legs) and add in as the prime minister of Canada, Alexander Skarsgård you get a huge cast, huge potential and a lot of laughs.

I loved this film, the cast are great Charlize and Seth are wonderful as the could be power couple and they really make this a fun, easy to watch picture.

I am not a huge fan of rom coms, but I love a good comedy and this is actually one. A little blown out at over two hours, however it travels the world, follows a 2020 presidential candidate and even throws in AOC's New Green Deal. Yes I think the creators make have a crush on AOC, but hey don't we all.

You know America is divided, this is Hollywood, left leaning material, but the messages mixed with the cum jokes round this out to be a honest look at humans. We are not perfect as humans, we all wank, we all have things the media will not like as they will NEVER find a 100% holy political candidate in 2019.

Long Shot is refreshing, funny and smart, it gets a solid AF 4 Stars, fun. If superheroes are not your thing, this might be, go see it now!

Cinema Slut #2019 - The Curse of the Weeping Woman

I was not aware this was part of The Conjuring universe, however it has very Conjuring feels right from the get go.

With a tiny budget of $9M and going up against Avengers, The Curse of the Weeping Woman (AKA in the USA The Curse of La Llorona) has done extremely well even though some critics are not 100% amused.

The Conjuring series has given us The Nun, Annabelle and a third film to come in 2020. Annabelle will also hit film number three next month.

We all love a scary film and with there being no shortage of them right now, this is pretty damn good.

After finding Pet Sematary fairly average, this was a huge success in my books. Unlike it's competition Avengers, The Curse of the Weeping Woman is swift and gets to the point damn fast, it's 93 minutes of pure terror.

Yes a lot of the bump in the night stuff is nothing new but it was a wee bit of fun. A nice distraction from all the superhero goings on. With most cinemas in Australia being clogged with Avengers screenings it's refreshing to take in another genre which is only getting more and more popular.

Tony Amendola crosses over from Annabelle to make an appearance in this film, linking the universe nicely and Linda Cardellini who has appeared in a few Avengers films also makes a terrific lead in this film.

I enjoyed this a lot more than I expected to, 3.5 Stars.
