A night in Dolly-Wood

Have you ever been to a concert where you leave smiling and you just feel so damn good about yourself? Well that was Dolly last night at Sydney's nearly named Crazy John's Arena, ooopppss I mean Allphones Arena.

So Dolly Parton performed for around 2 highly entertaining hours last night to a packed out Allphones Arena.

The show was flawless she came out banging and threw "Jolene" in nice and early to set the stage.

Every moment of this concert was great and every song was well choosen and well placed in the diverse and fun set list. It was all fun times ahead with this set and concert and it was all positive.

I really don't know what I enjoyed more, Dolly's singing or story telling and interaction with the crowd. Her final two up beat numbers and encore were the perfect end to a great evening. As we ramp up to the full on concert season this was a perfect start to the season.

Dolly will be hard to follow and this will definately be a memorable evening, greta stuff Dolly, 5 flawless stars.

Tomorrow Night - Dolly Parton

OMG it's Dolly mania tomorrow night! So stay tuned later in the week for a full review, hopefully she is better than the latest Twilight film :)

Film Freak 2011 - Twilight - Breaking Dawn (Part One)

Firstly I don't like that this is going to be drawn out for the hardcore fans. Fans have told me not that much happens in the book and it could definately be done in one film.

You can really tell now that each film has been directed by diferent directors by the way each film is just so random and different, the first one was a B grade teen romance, with a bit of suspense. The second one had a little more money to splash around and the third nothing really happened by it was clear there was money put into it and the guys behind this love to throw in some big songs.

I find this more interesting and weird than a normal film experience. People laugh when they shouldn't, people work in and out of the movie, people groan and poeple sigh when Taylor Launter removes his shirt to remove his near perfect body.

Okay so how is the film, in one word terrible.

The acting is all over the shop, the plot is ridcilous and all over the shop, the special effects and make up leave a lot to be desired. The Angus and Julia Stone song from the soundtrack misses out on a place in the movie.

Kristen Stewart needs a burger and a punch in the junk, man that woman blows!

For a teen, fantasy romance movie it has the most unlikable couple in the history of romantic cinema.

I was disapointed to say the least at this half cooked part one in the final of this rather strange "saga", I think drama needs to happen before something can be considered a saga.

So my star rating, one lonely saga free star.

90's World - Salt N Pepa Fun Times ahead!

Starting off their career in 1985 Salt N Pepa I can finally say you are off my bucket list!

Cheryl "Salt" (James) - Wray & Sandra "Pepa" Denton really rocked it at their Enmore last night, playing their four major hits ("Shoop", "Whatta Man", "Push It" (they actually did this twice with fans joining them on stage the second time round - good grief) and my favourite "Let's Talk about Sex").

The Enmore was bumping with all the single ladies and old school fans in the house and enjoying a trip down memory lane back to the old 90's with lot's of old school jams and daggy dancing.

Salt N Pepa may not be relevant in 2011 in the recording music scene but in the live environment these ladies rock.

So much fun and in their words "Feel Good Music". Loved it, Salt N Pepa, shook me 4 stars.

Beni - House of Beni

Camp, good summer times fun can be found right here ladies!

New Hilltop Hoods features SIA

I love it! LOL

Film Freak 2011 - We Need to Talk About Kevin

Starring Tilda Swinton, John C. Reilly, Ezra Miller.

It has been described as masterpiece and shocking and epic it is! Tilda Swinton really brought it and had an extremely difficult role to play. The movie is totally not everyone's cup of tea and it is very arthouse.

We Need to Talk About Kevin, is out now at very select cinemas as everywhere else is playing back to back Twilight movies.

We Need to Talk About Kevin I will not give anything away about this film as it has to been seen to be believed so check out this three and a half star film.

Dexter fans unite!

So everybody, no need to be scared, Dexter is now doing at least 8 seasons, yes it was announced late last week and I am so excited Dexter will now be doing a series 7 & 8, so excited, this season has been fab!

Also on TV, it looks like Glee is on holidays the end of the month, yes the next episode air date is November 29, 2011. The show has slid down in ratings and will then have a break to be replaced by some new sitcoms. It is all looking like the end for the old Glee kids.

Onto Aussie TV the Slap has just been brilliant and I am looking to see what new Aussie dramas Seven and Nine will dig out after most of there's are either finished for the year or cancelled.

Christmas is next Month so how's about a gift registry V2.0

The Holiday is over - Sad Face Part 2

The holiday is now over and the reality of working and back to Sydney life is totally back on track. Sad face!

So after a great week in various parts of Asia, I found my love of Thailand has increased and my new love of Hong Kong is one I would like to keep up in the future.

I have summarised my hotel top 5 below and maybe decided to put a little picture from each, so here is where we stayed and my mini review plus picture:

1. The Four Seasons, Bangkok

Just simply divine!

My favourite by a long way, with 5 star plus service and 5 star location, right near the BTA and right near shops, markets and everything one needs in the stunning Bangkok.

2. The Peninsula, Bangkok

So amazing, such great service, amazing day spa, amazing buffet breakfast and lovely people to make you feel warm and welcome. Also on the riverside so something different and very nice. No floods in this part of Bangkok

3. The Peninsula, Hong Kong

Again divine, but the Chinese are not as freidnly as the Thai and with no complimentary buffet breakfast, they get marked down a bit. But an amazing high tea is to be had there and the pool has an amazing view of the city light show at 8pm nighty

4. The Sukhothai, Bangkok

Lovely Thai people and lovely buffet but it was not up there with the other two Thai hotels, the rooms were a little wierd but all good, one night in Bangkok at this place

5. Lanson Place, Hong Kong

HMMMMMMM the Chinese really don't have customer service down to a fine art form like the Thai but this place was comfortable and in a greta location, right near Times Square and around a lot of great little shops and Yum Cha in the heart of Causeway Bay.

Okay so hotels tick, and it comes to my favourite memories, Ocean Park at the end of the leg in Hong Kong was a great amusement park and haven't I seen a load of them this year.

And the people of Thailand always continue to amaze me, they have survived floods this year, some of the people surive on what Alan Joyce makes in an hour to last them a year and support an entire family. Thailand can I move to you and ditch the great down under?

There was so much in Hong Kong, so many shops, so many people, so much washing on the streets, so many modes of transport, such great little lane ways (look out Melbourne) and the people themseleves, CRAZY!

Oh the love, oh how I love holidays and this blog is becoming a bit Getaway travel-esque, so it all stops soon with gig reviews, as some of the biggest stars and acts are in town. Salt n Pepa, Seeker Lover Keeper and the Australian festival starts real soon.

So look out readers!

Farewell Honkers, last night was BONKERS

Yes a full round up of my farewell to the lovely Thailand and Hong Kong is coming up, but after a crazy night in the gay district of the mighty Honkers, my head is bumping today and it's time for a final Sunday Yum Cha session.

Oh boy what a whirlwind trip and I can't believe next week the journey is all but over.

I fly out tonight on the amazing Virgin Atlantic, which I loved flying over and I can't wait to settle down to some more trashy films. Speaking of films I must add I saw the excellent "Midnight in Paris" heading over from Bangkok to Hong Kong. It really is a great film despite Owen Wilson usually being so vile in most films. And come to think of it most of the films he is in really suck butt.

So there you go if you re in Australia and bored on your Sunday afternoon/evening maybe catch up with the latest Woody Allen installment, really a good easy to watch film set in the beautiful Paris.

Okay I am going on about nothing another than film, so a full holiday blog entry will be coming at some stage tomorrow on my last day of freedom until Christmas. Oh and that reminds me a fully new Christmas gift registry is also coming soon so look out for that you witches.

Anyway from Hong Kong on the 20th floor of the Lanson Place, I am signing out, hung over and still beaming with excitement after one dancing to a SIA tune on an international dance floor and two after surviving all the mad roller coasters at yesterday's fab and camp Ocean Park!

See y'all!

Last Full Day in Thailand and is it wrong to eat.....

BBQ Pork Buns for breakfast? While on holidays I sure do not see why not!

So my collection of T-Shirts and shorts continues to grow after shopping yesterday so look out Sydney and beyond!

No offense Australia but I want to relocate so badly to Thailand, people are polite, the public transport system is easy to use and did I say the people are friendly. Sydney has become so busy and so cranky that I don't know why a tourist would ever return to our high prices, bad service levels and shocking transport.

Over here a taxi is around $2-$4 around the city, in Sydney it could be $50 depending on traffic!

I love Australia don't get me wrong but if I won Lotto, guess where you would find me!

So yesterday was a movie night and shopping day! Shopping is great here, all the centres, the markets, the street stalls, it is just amazing. You can pick up everything from clothes, DVD copies, CD copies, computers, hand guns, knock off Calvin Klein and new this year Aussie Bum!

The food here also is supreme our buffet breakfast at the Four Seasons yesterday was to die for, BBQ Pork Buns, muesli, Fried Rice, Stir Fries, all the fresh fruit in the world you could ever want or need for and pastries galore, so supreme!

I love food and Bangkok is a food paradise!

So tomorrow it's back to Honkers and I will try and update as much as possible from there but there will be loads to do before arriving back in Sydney early Monday morning. Don't know how I am going to function Tuesday at work, way too hard to think about that after and hour and a half beauty treatment. LOL

Okay travel readers, off now to the pool and some Sookie Stackhouse.

XOXO

Film Freak 2011 - Tower Heist

I love the movies in Bangkok and not just because it's an escape form the heat but because it is an experience, it's what the movies should be and lacks in Australia. They also have a tribute before each movie to their beloved King. If there was a tribute to either Julia Gillard or the Queen in Australia no one would stand or care, they would boo but in Thailand the entire audience gets up from their reclining seats and removes there blanket and up they get.

Yes you get a blanket in the movies as it's so blinking cold in there! LOL

So now after that rather long intro the movie...

So the seats are a little too comfy and after shopping, shopping shopping that day I must say I did fall asleep which is strange as it was an okay movie and the last movie I drifted off during was the woeful Dreamgirls.

So this stars an all star cast, Ben Stiller (Average Performance), Eddie Murphy (Hardly in the bits I was awake for), Tea Leoni (Boy her career has really gone nowhere much lately!), Matthew Broderick (Mr Sarah Jessica Parker) and the lovely and always awesome Gabourey Sidibe.

So it had all the right stuff but a Crime Comedy, doesn't really sit right with me, so overall it had some laugh out loud moments and I definately think Casey Affleck should not follow his brother into these B Grade films. He is better than that, way better,

So I give it three stars mainly for the lovely Thai Experience

The Biggest Song in the Country RIGHT NOW!

It's an English invasion this year! Ed Sheeran and Adele are taking over like the backpackers in Bondi!

Well done to Ed Sheeran:

My favourite of his however is still the extremely catchy tune below:

I Heart Bangkok

And the staff at the amazing Four Seasons and Peninsula hotels, the most friendly and lovely people around, Sydney ain't got no service like this!

OMG loved the night markets too last night, I have some killer new T Shirts to parade around the office upon returning (FML).

Anyway off to more shops and maybe something light to take the edge off for lunch like KFC via delivery maybe or a giant Pad Thai and fried rice.... Just some thoughts.

Anyway bitches, I love ASIA more than ever after this trip it rocks my socks off!

Tuesday, November 15, 2011

Hong Kong was so yesterday it's Bang my cock today

So after a quick visit through and around Hong Kong it's onto my second leg of the November Asia tour in the lovely and sweet Bangkok. After loving the Peninsula fully sick and the day spa there was simply to die for, I recommend an oriental head massage, so dreamy!

After having the worlds best Yum Cha and then enjoying the public transport in Hong Kong (PS Australia we are so behind in the world of public transportation and ticketing this) and feeling as though I was in Manila on Sunday as it's the day all the Filipino maids get off.

Once we return on our final leg to Hong Kong it's Disney Land time and more delicious oriental food. The food in Hong Kong was just blissful and the bubble tea ain't half bad too.

After a sweet as hair cut and my day spa and time in the pool in Hong Kong I am ready and refreshed for some hardcore shopping and fun fun fun in Bangkok!

Curently I am loving the Sukhothai hotel and the beautiful buffet breakfast I just smashed and PS how cool is Emirates to fly, definately no budget like Qantas AKA Queer and Nasty Try Another Service LOL

Alright that's it for me, Happy Birthday tomorow Mrs Alex Pelikan the worlds hottest bride to be of 2012.

Talk soon

BONKERS IN HONKERS

OMG so much love so far for the Honkers! Only arrived last night and today it's off to fancy yum cha and shopping! Loving the Peninsula, fully sick as.

Also Virgin Atlantic, great stuff and thanks for the upgrade, that was sweet as and so was the Inbetweeners movie as part of my movie going experience, this will be out November 24th and I strongly recommend it. After never watching the TV series it is based on I can't say I was a fan before but now, love it, great coming of age sorry without the usual US bullshit of everyone being pretty and handsome, boring, cast some ugly fuckers and it is loads better.

So that being set it's time to explore Hong Kong.

More updates coming soon, so behave y'all back down under or where ever you read this from and go the Gold Coast, Commonwealth Games here we come.

The Holiday is finally here

And my countdown is now over :(

Well stay tunned for live updates for the lovely Asian neighbours we have.

In the meantime let's enjoy five tracks to get me in the mood for my take off today!

1. Architecture In Helsinki - I Know Deep Down

Camp, classic, good fun, that's exactly what you need before a good holiday away from the pre Christmas rat race.

I Know Deep Down by Architecture In Helsinki

2. Florence & The Machine - Shake It Out

Not so great on the UK X Factor this past week but I have heard live she isn't the best but vocally on this record this song is pure bliss:

3. Hermitude - Speak Of The Devil

The main dancer in the video is delicious too!

4. Kasabian - Re-Wired

Great rock riff, and they are here for the struggling Big Days Out in 2012

5. SBTRKT - Pharaohs

What can I say, smooth vocals, great beats, kust sublime, if I hear this on a dancefloor I will lose my shit!

1 days till I go Bonkers in Honkers (I fly out tomorrow you witches)

Number 1 in things that make me BONKERS:

What is going to drive me bonkers when tomorrow I am overseas and enjoying five star accomadation the entire time?

I can't wait, and then it's the Christmas home straight and yes that means food, my gift registry getting fulfilled, family time and some chill time, love it.

All I want is another massive storm, how cool was the one on Tuesday Sydney Siders, not cool on the other hand was the dreadful second announcement for the Big Day Out Line up. When people like Prince are rumoured and the best they can deliver is one of the crappy Oasis brothers (which 90% of people knew that he was on the cards), it was like surprise crap line up alert!

Also the reduction of modes for the festival in SA & WA, Big Day Out and Summer Festival organisers it's time to condense yourselves into a couple of well priced, possible alcohol free, over 18 only events with a decent line up not a sub standard line up becuase there are four other festivals on that week and all the good acts are spread across them and then including a large number of filler acts.

The general public will not continue to support sub standard events guys, wake up and smell the roses.

Sorry end of rant.

Now we are into the top 40 I am going to countdown 40 inspirational artists as well to get me up to Hong Kong and a bit of Bangkok.

Number 1 is:

Sia

5 albums in and this woman is clearly one of the greatest artists of all time in my mind. She has had a rough trip to the large fan base she now has. She has collpbrated with heaps of decent artists incluign and not limited to Lior, David Guetta, Katie Noonan, Friendly, The Bird and the Bee and more.

Her David Guetta track "Titanium" for a while was the biggest tune to be lifted from his album, and it was never released as a single!

Her work with Zero 7 was also a big part of her growing fan base too and she worked with these guys from2001-2006.

Her last album "We are Born" was her most accessiable and most delicous pop album, "You've Changed", "Clap Your Hands", "The Fight" and "Bring Night" were all epic favourites!

Her first debut "Healing Is Difficult" is still a classic fav of mine. And who could forget her biggest hit and most played track on TV shows "Breathe Me".

Speaking of TV her must has appeared on Nip/Tuck, Gossip Girl, she had a song on a Twilight soundtrack, The Big C, Packed to the Rafters and heaps more!

She is our darling from Adelaide and I heart her big time! SIA!

Now for some SIA tunes for your Friday and my packing time :)

Catch y'all later!

Press Release - My 29 and a half birthday party

Yeah I am 30 next year and yeah I hate birthday parties but I am going into this a little differently, I plan on being OS for my 30th and so therefore I plan to host a halfway to 30 do in January, so my readers and close friends and possible strangers here are the details for your smartphones, diaries, IPAD's, scrap pieces of paper or whatever:

When - Sunday the 15th of January 2012

Where - The Bank Hotel

What Time - From 1pm - lunch will be at the Thai restaurant if you want to eat there, not fussed if you do or you don't.

Till When it's a School Night - Whenever it's a drop in when you please and leave when you please thing, I'll be there, so come say hello.

Dress Code - It's Summer, so as few clothes as humanly possible.

Is this a Ploy for two parities in one year - No I will not be having a 30th, mark my words, this is it as Dannii once sung.

That is all, a further reminder will be sent in weeks to come.

Peace out.

TV in 2011 - Part 301

So Wild Boys was axed this week from Channel Seven's 2012 roster, American Horror Story has just been the most amazing new series in ages, and thank god it's been picked up for a second series.

With Ryan Murphy now working on this wonderful masterpiece it leaves me thinking that Glee is left to go even further down the drain. This season (it's third) has been so horrid, it's hard to watch. I am really excited though to see the "Mash Off" episode featuring the following tunes:

"I Can't Go for That" / "You Make My Dreams"
"Hit Me with Your Best Shot" / "One Way or Another"
"Hot for Teacher"
"Rumour Has It" / "Someone Like You"
"Oklahoma"
"You and I" / "You and I"

Could be fun hey!

And to Dexter, he definitely still has loads of steam and mystery in him as series 6 is simply fantastic!

Desperate Housewives is also going off with a bang very unlike the finale of this year's Underbelly Razor, I must day the finale was so disappointing!

So with the year drawing to a close and summer TV on the horizon what are my DVD/catch up picks:

- Dexter - all past series
- True Blood - all four seasons
- The Big C - both emotional and extremely funny seasons

Heres to a good rest of the year on the idiot box!

2 days till I go Bonkers in Honkers

Number 2 in things that make me BONKERS:

Wankers at the gym, usually my local Broadway gym is a wanker free zone, however last night there was a supreme number of total wankers around!

The gym is for working out, not for hanging around looking at yourself and making others feel uncomfortable, pull yo head outta yo ass people!

Now we are into the top 40 I am going to countdown 40 inspirational artists as well to get me up to Hong Kong and a bit of Bangkok.

Number 2 is:

Kanye West

After yesterday announcing he will not be performing at the Perth and Adelaide Big Day Out's some people will not agree with my high ranking of Kanye West, what do I have for you, blow me! Kanye is the shit and always has been.

His epic last piece of art "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" was by far the best hip hop record of last year and this year his album with Jay Z "Watch the Throne" will also go down as one of the year's best too.

Kanye is a superstar he has had a tonne of hits, he is great live, he has produced tunes for Beyonce, Kid Cudi, Jay Z, John Legend plus Common and hundreds more. He has appeared on some many other artists smashes, Janet Jackson, Fall Out Boy, NERD, Madonna and even more! AMAZING!

Kanye rules and he will continue to do so, he is a massive star and has way too much talent sometimes for his own good.

Now three of his biggest solo hits:

Gosh that was hard only picking three BIG Kanye songs..... Happy Thursday!

3 days till I go Bonkers in Honkers

Number 3 in things that make me BONKERS:

MoVember

All I can say is some men can wear facial hair well and some just can't, it's the ones who just can't that scare me and continue to think Movember is one sure way of getting a lady or a lad into the sack.

Frightful!

Now we are into the top 40 I am going to countdown 40 inspirational artists as well to get me up to Hong Kong and a bit of Bangkok.

Number 3 is:

Bjork

I spent a while reading about Bjork's long career last night and now we are down to the best of the best artists I think I'll just let the next few clips speak for themselves, this woman is the best I've ever seen in live music at the Forecourt of the Opera House. She is supreme, vocally and style wise. Love you Bjork!

Just epic, love you Bjork!

Film Freak 2011 - Paranormal Activity 3

So first up this is the most scary movie I have ever seen! After seeing the past two, I knew this would be a head fuck, but not as much as it turned out to be.

How can these guys continue to out do themselves, this films are killing it, literally. The third was made for $5 million and has currently made $172,408,000, how crazy is that!

This film is breaking all records and rightly so. No gore, no torture porn, no ridioulous violence, just pure and simple suspense and lot's of it. In the previous two movies there has been a lead up, in this one, no lead up, it starts up straight away and scares the poo out of you.

I slept terribly last night and totally blame Kate and Kristy.

Look out for the killer twist in this prequel to the two earlier films. Prepare to be shocked, terrified, mind fucked and left holding onto your neighbours arm!

Paranormal Activity 3 rates a Paranormal 4 and a half stars.

4 days till I go Bonkers in Honkers

Number 4 in things that make me BONKERS:

Loud talkers on the trains/Loud thugs on the train

So on the weekend I had the glorious task of catching a train on a Saturday night, NOT!

Why do people immediately grab their phones and start a loud conversation where every second word is fuck or he is a c#$%. The trains are for quiet time or restrained conversation between two people, OMG how old I am.

So if you are going to work somewhere on a train today, SHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Now we are into the top 40 I am going to countdown 40 inspirational artists as well to get me up to Hong Kong and a bit of Bangkok.

Number 4 is:

Kelis

Okay now it is into the serious and artists and Kelis has been banging around now since 1999 when her first massive track that screamed take notice of me or else was released "Caught out There", her next Neptunes produced single wasn't as big but it was a massive favourite of mine and still is to this day "Good Stuff".

Her first album "Kaleidoscope" did quite well, her second "Wanderland" really didn't hit the same highs only one single "Young, Fresh n' New" was released.

It was when "Tasty" was released Kelis hit a career high with her monster smash "Milkshake" followed by the equally terrific single "Trick Me".

Her fourth album "Kelis was Here" had moderate success while in her fifth album Kelis became a disco/dance dvia.

Kelis is to this day one of the best live acts I have seen (at this year's terrific Good Vibes Festival) and has been doing it for over a decade now. She has worked with the Neptunes as mentioned before, Calvin Harris, Benny Benassi, Clipse, Busta Rhymes and many others.

If you love Kelis like I do you will love this next track, happy Tuesday!

Monday, November 7, 2011

5 days till I go Bonkers in Honkers

Number 5 in things that make me BONKERS:

Sydney people and their massive attitudes.

After being on the peaceful Central Coast all weekend and having people randomly saying hello to you and smiling at you I realised that people really in Sydney have a stick up there ass.

So grow up fuck faces in Sydney we are all the same at the end of the day whether you live in Mosman or Campbelltown.

Now we are into the top 40 I am going to countdown 40 inspirational artists as well to get me up to Hong Kong and a bit of Bangkok.

Number 5 is:

Jay Z

Now what can you say about a man who has done it all, married Beyonce, possibly got her up the duff, sold millions of records and collobrated with endless artists and rapped over just about anything (Linkin Park included - good grief).

Jay Z, he is the money and knows how to be one of the best business men in the world.

Jay Z you are my Rockafeller and one of my nominations for the album of the year alongside Mr Kanye West with "Watch the Throne".

Now I've got 99 Problems but a bitch definately ain't one!

Theatre - Summer of the Seventeenth Doll

Summer of the Seventeenth Doll playing @ Belvoir till 13 November 2011 (so get in soon!)

So I did a really amazing review for this last night and it seems to have deleted itself from the Internet, annoying internet!

So basically I praised the play for it's superb acting, mainly from the likes of Robyn Nevin, Susie Porter, and Dan Wyllie, also the woman who played Pearl simply had all the superior lines and really just owned it.

Summer of the Seventeenth Doll really is a terrific play and I thought I would struggle with the 3 hour, 2 interval duration but it really went by super quick and the whole thing just work so well.

The breakdown of a relationship over 17 years and the way life changes over a period of 17 years is explorered and played out so well in this well writtern and well acted piece.

Also big props to well the props and the use of the window out to Belvoir street was just a FAB vision. Well done.

Great play, 4 almost Summer stars.

6 days till I go Bonkers in Honkers (Under One Week Now!)

Number 6 in things that make me BONKERS:

Old people at the Theatre

How do old people rivert to their inner child when they hit a certain age? This comes out especially in the public eye, i.e. a quiet scene at the theatre, an oldie grabs for a hard boiled lolly wrapped in plastic and continues to unwrap even when it is so silent and the only thing heard her wrapper. Then after she has every one's attention laughs, does that remind you of a child much?

Look I have nothing against the grey power of today's society but sometimes in public the older generation makes me feel like I am a character in the wrong on the ABC's "The Slap".

Now we are into the top 40 I am going to countdown 40 inspirational artists as well to get me up to Hong Kong and a bit of Bangkok.

Number 6 is:

I've featured a few good dance acts along the way on my countdown but now it's time for a DJ who has killed it in the 90's, surprised us in the years 2000 onwards and worked with A-Trak on the amazing project that is DUCK SAUCE! It's Mr Armand Van Helden.

Armand Van Helden in my books is at the top of his game, forget David Guetta, Forget Bob Sinclair and forget Fatboy, Armand Van Helden is the king. From his first smash hit "You Don't Even Know Me" to his recent work on Duck Sauce, Armand has stayed current and keep his name in the charts and on the BLOG's.

Seven albums into his career and he is still kicking, singles galore and his remixes include and are not limited to:

Sneaker Pimps
Tori Amos - that epic remix of Professional Widow
Britney Spears
Gwen Stefani
Katy Perry
Uffie

And millions more! He is a work horse and a pure DJ/producer machine.

It's no wonder Armand Van Helden has kept us at the gym, on the dance floor and dancing in front of mirrors thinking we are the coolest mother fuckers round.

Well done Armand!

Keep you re Saturday night pumping with this Armand Van Helden tribute:

Film Freak 2011 - The Three Musketeers (not the 3D Version)

Have I said how much I hate 3D movies, therefore I clearly went for the 2D option on this bad boy.

So The Three Musketeers, it's an idea done in film many times before in 1993 a Disney production starring Charlie Sheen, Kiefer Sutherland, Chris O'Donnell, Oliver Platt, and Tim Curry, 1921, 1933, 1935, 1939, 1948, 1953, 1961, 1969, 1973 & 1974 and it returns in 2011, so was it any good and worth doing all over again?

Well yes and no, here is my breakdown:

Yes:

Great action Sequences
Like able cast
some kinda lame and cheesy humour but it works in this genre

No:

Bad script
Too long - like most action/adventure/fantasy movies

So with these points in mind, definitely avoid the 3D version as this movie does not need to be scene in 3D, but if you want some quiet time where you don't have to think and just put your feet up, but not on the seats as it's a movie theatre, then check out The Three Musketeers, it's not going to win any awards. But it's better than a kick in the balls.

3 stars.

7 days till I go Bonkers in Honkers

Number 7 in things that make me BONKERS:

Reality TV mega stars - Kim Kardashian

Why the fuck is Kim Kardashian famous? Was it because in 2007 she had a sex tape with singer Ray J? Was it because after just 72 days of marriage, Kardashian filed for divorce from Humphries on October 31, 2011, citing irreconcilable differences?

Or is it because today people are so obsessed with publications like Who Weekly, NW, Famous or let's face it watch Sunrise or Today and are too brain dead to see this woman is a complete tool.

I also wage war on The Hills, her tranny sister Khloé Kardashian and her music video below, holy fuck balls:

Get a real job woman and stay in America, you are a complete and utter job, you should be ashamed of yourself and so should the people who aspire to be a complete skank like your good self. OUT!

Now we are into the top 40 I am going to countdown 40 inspirational artists as well to get me up to Hong Kong and a bit of Bangkok.

Number 7 is:

Are you ready for the weekend and Field Day 2012:

Calvin Harris

Yes Clavin Harris will be back here on New Year's Day 2012 for the fab Field Day. Don't know why I'm calling it fab when I have never been or have had the desire to go, but if it's anything like Fuzzy's Shore Thing event it will be mad.

So Calvin Harris born Adam Richard Wiles, has had a big 2011, with monster smashes with "Bounce" teaming up with the all so sassy Kelis, "Feels so Close" & now teaming up with the queen of auto tune Rihanna "We Found Love".

Prior to this his other two solo albums helped him build a fanbase but now with two and if you count the current production on the Rihanna hit a third mega hits on his hands, Calvin Harris's soon to be released third album will be massive.

Calvin Harris has produced and remixed the likes of Kylie, Example (also announced for Field Day 2012), Kelis, David Guetta and loads more.

Calvin Harris is no one trick pony he is the real deal and number 7, now get ready to bounce on your Saturday night with the below:

Darren Hayes @ the Enmore Theatre

Enter 90's World!

Yes Darren gave the crowd what they wanted, Savage Garden and how good was it to relive hits like "the Animal Song", "Break Me Shake Me", "Affirmation" and the amazing "Truly, Madly, Deeply", oh the moment.

His solo career songs were a bit hit and miss, the gay camp ones such as "Pop!ular" & "Crush (1980 Me)" but the newer slower self indulgent ones kinda left me looking for the door.

I admire his love for himself and confidence but really his opening speech and speeches in between songs was a little much. He also did some weird kinda drag show in the middle which was a little strange.

The crowd seemed to lap up his performance and look he is vocally strong, his solo work definately doesn't match his Saveg Garden work but in a quick review, the venue suited him, the sound and band very terrific and it was a step back in time event for me.

Darren Hayes, may finally be free to be himself and sing camp synth pop songs.

3 and half 90's grade stars.

8 days till I go Bonkers in Honkers

Number 8 in things that make me BONKERS:

Singers who go gay and then go way over the top gay.

So for the Australian Idol years and a few years after Anthony Callea claimed to be straight and then SURPRISE "I'm Gay" and then with those two words he hit UBER gay. The same with young Darren Hayes.

I saw his concert last night (review above) and he quoted "Can I dance, of course I can I'm Gay....... GAY", well no shit Sherlock but you did deny it for years and marry some poor beard.

So my point to this mornings rant is if your going to be gay, straight, bi, religious, whatever, don't hide it just be yourself as the below clip explains, cause it does get better and if you be yourself people will like you no matter what.

Now we are into the top 40 I am going to countdown 40 inspirational artists as well to get me up to Hong Kong and a bit of Bangkok.

Number 8 is:

Pharrell

In my opinion the sexiest man in music, he has produced work for Jay Z, Kelis, No Doubt, Beyonce, Britney Spears, Justine Timberlake & a million more! All under the production team as The Neptunes.

He then started his group, N.E.R.D and really set the world on fire with "Lapdance", "Rockstar", "She Wants to Move" and many more, as much as there live show was a little disappointing early this year or last as recording artists they are simply amazing.

Pharrell then had a highly underated solo album which was amazing "In my Mind", which featured a couple of mini hits but were on high rotation on my stereo, "Can I Have It Like That", "Angel" & "Number One".

Pharrell Williams a top notch performer and top deserves to be in my top 10 artists.

Now let's get your Friday on witches!

9 days till I go Bonkers in Honkers

Number 9 in things that make me BONKERS:

Movie Trailers and Advertisements at the movies these days, if I check a movie has a running time of 90 minutes, I do not expect to be at the cinema for 2 hours! If I want to see movie trailers I will use the second biggest search egine in the worl YouTube duhhhhhhhhhh

Now we are into the top 40 I am going to countdown 40 inspirational artists as well to get me up to Hong Kong and a bit of Bangkok.

Number 9 is:

Adele

Today's artist is the biggest artist of 2011, her trakcs "Rolling in the Deep" and "Someone Like You" have been two of the biggest songs this year. Her album has also been a powerhouse and she has proven the point that second albums do not always have to be difficult.

I like the fact she is not a slut in videos and her songs are so basic yet so powerful, even when stripped back.

Adele's "19" album was also a great debut and hit's like "Chasing Pavement" and "Cold Shoulder" were brillant and deserved more attention, now she has it!

She is one of four albums I have choosen for my album of the year with her breakthrough and record breaking album "21".

Now for the stompin' "Rumour Has it" my personal favourite from the album:

Dear Ryan Murphy {Open Letter}

Dear Ryan Murphy,

This season of Glee totally blows, and I mean it doesn't blow a little bit but heaps blows. On the other hand I heard of your new show "American Horror Story" and I have since watched the first four episodes and right after episode one I was hooked. I am in love, the characters, the story lines, first class.

I loved your work on Nip/Tuck and I liked earlier bits of Glee however these days it's so hit n miss, I mean one episode I want to go full drag and sing around my apartment and then the next I find myself cutting my toe nails and wishing Toni Pearon would re start her music career.

Ryan Murphy well done on getting a second season for American Horror Story and I really want you to focus your attentions on this terrific new show and the best of the new season. Mind you it's not hard to bit that ridiculous new version of Charlies Angels, what a pile of horse shit.

Anyway I am off to prepare for another episode of American Horror Story, but Glee, I think I'll wait till I'm retired and have more time up my sleeve.

All the best and can't wait to see more of this terrific new series, well done.

Andrew

PS - I hate Christmas CD's as you may read below in my Bonkers countdown and now I find the Glee cast is doing a second one, I am disapointed! Anyway at least Mike Chang is getting more screen time this year.

Film Freak 2011 - Drive

Ryan Gossling, what can the man do wrong, he did a rom com (as crappy as it may have been) in Crazy Stupid Love, everyone still remembers him form the Notepad, he was horrible in "Blue Valentine" and he loved a doll in "Lars and the real Girl". So a bit of a blurb on someone I never cared much for but he is cute and he can act.

Every role he puts himself up for he really gives it his all and in this movie it's not the dialogue but his facial expressions and at times his violent and then in another second beautiful ways.

This movie was dark, and then light with epic 80's tunes and big action scenes. However this is VIOLENT! And not straight away but it's like Kill Bill, Ryan's character must fuck up all the bad dudes.

Okay so Drive is no Fast and Furious, nor is it an action blockbuster, it's an arty action thriller with a at times hard to follow story but deep down great characters.

I enjoyed this but had to look away a couple of times. If you need to look away just think of the below and you will go to a better place:

Now Drive rates 4 stars.

10 days till I go Bonkers in Honkers

Number 10 in things that make me BONKERS:

Alan Joyce - What a C&^%

After nearly ruining the faboulous Qantas, taking a massive pay rise while slashing hundreds of other jobs and giving this great land a bad rep, tourism Australia will definately not being thanking him in months to come.

Now we are into the top 40 I am going to countdown 40 inspirational artists as well to get me up to Hong Kong and a bit of Bangkok.

Number 10 is:

Angus & Julia Stone

Hailing from Newport, NSW, Angus and Julia Stone may onyl be two albums into their career but they are MASSIVE! They are the darlings of Triple J radio, they are everyone's festival favourite and if you haven't heard an Angus and Julia Stone song by now you must have been living in Russia.

Angus & Julia Stone's last album, Down the Way was simple stunning it featured the massive breakthrough hit "Big Jet Plane".

Julia and Angus also did their on solo thing showing the guys just have way too much talent.

Australia loves a chill out song, so here one is for your hump day:

11 days till I go Bonkers in Honkers

Number 11 in things that make me BONKERS:

Christmas decorations in stores in October, okay so I could have listed this earlier but there have been more pressing issues. So Christmas is still around 6 weeks off so even know it's too early but Christmas decorations out in October is just plain wrong town!

Now we are into the top 40 I am going to countdown 40 inspirational artists as well to get me up to Hong Kong and a bit of Bangkok.

Number 11 is:

John Butler

What a career, what a talented man and what great work he does inside and outside of the music world.

5 John Butler Trio's in and a couple of solo recodings he is already a multiple ARIA award winner and an extremely talented song writer and live performer.

I have been lukcy enough to see the Butler Trio live a few times and they never disapoint, with a great back catalogue now and their tunes getting stronger and stronger, the John Butler Trio and Mr John Butler himself just keep getting better!
