Living the Good Life in North Adelaide

Well a day including Australia's biggest morning tea and then a lovely dinner of too much Pizza @ North Adelaide's Good Life Pizza joint, I am well and truly not eating much today except maybe a nice bucket of chicken from KFC, just saying light to tie me over to lunch desert!

The Last train out of Adelaide to Sydney is also coming soon as is a film review of new Aussie picture, Animal Kingdom.

Film Freak - Robin Hood

Ridley Scott is back and guess what he has brought along for the ride again, Russell McCrowe.

Robin Hood has been done a few times but this was a kinda prequel thing and I enjoyed the back story which was kinda a little confusing in parts as there were so many characters coming and going.

However the battle scenes in this movie are AWESOME, Cate B is awesome in this Aussie double up cast!

Let me tell you about time a good Aussie something is out at the cinema apart from the upcoming Animal Kingdom it's Wog Boys or bust!

Robin Hood is good a little LLLLOOOOONNNNGGGG but all the battle scenes and the interaction between Russell and Cate are great.

Russell is actually semi good looking also in this film, who would have thought that Danielle Spencer was banging a male babe?

Robin Hoods rates three and a half arrows.

I Mounted Mt Lofty

Oh my god who ever thought a 2.5km walk would have me in bed by 1pm and with pains you only have by listening to Justin Beavers smash hit single "Baby" on repeat for a 24 period.

Oh my gosh Mt Lofty, it's one hell of a walk up but well worth it for the view over one of the flattest cities I have ever visited and I think I managed to count close to 1 million churches from up this high.

Well the people of Adelaide sure are fit as their were plenty of people giving it there all on a Saturday morning to reach the top of Mt Lofty and I have to say I am happy to have reached the top and run about 40% of the way back down.

What a walk and what a start to the weekend as my week two in Radelaide continues....

The Land of Promise in Adelaide

With establishments titled "The Land of Promise" one has to wonder? Is this a strip joint where ping pong balls go flying or is this a place of worship? Well seeing a naked slag dance to Britney is what most gay men called a place of worship so I will go with the later.

I write this as the "strip" I am working in on Port Road, Radeialde featuring the following tasty joints:

The Land of Promise (gold!)
Eye Candy
Massage $60 (that's the shop's name - no joke)

Oh the Golden Mile has nothing on this shit!

Film Freak - Iron Man 2

I loved the first Iron Man and I love a comeback like the one Robert Downey Jnr encountered when moving into this film series.

The second one.... well it's flashy, it's got plenty of ACDC, it even has Mickey Rourke, but is it any good? Well yes and no, it delivers action, Robert Downey is funny and sexy all in one hit! But some of the characters (like Samuel L Jackson) are thrown in but not explored nearly enough.

I will be interested to see how the third installment in this super hero franchise.

Iron Man rates a solid 3 stars, but could be a little bit better.

A Weekend in the City of Churches & all things RAD!

My First few days in the wonderful city of Churches I found myself not being able to escape the large buildings of worship and their loud bells.

I enjoyed my first warm weekend in the Radelaide with a peek a boo around the city and a look into it's fab Rundle Mall and then into the heart of it's seedy side Hindley Street (which Powderfinger did a tune about many years back!).

I also decided to check out the new Iron Man film, creatively titled Iron Man 2 (my review to come soon).

The city itself is so clean and people are so friendly, my two trips on the tram, I have been told where to see the hot chicks in SA strip (rock on) and a nice heavily medicated woman asked me if I had just finished school. I know I am ageing fucking amazingly but a school boy, SHIT!

Continue to follow my BLOG as I will take you all over the Festival State until the end of May and I might even review a few films and give my definitive list of the best albums of 2010 so far.

You'll love every peice of Adelaide

Well the alarm rang on Thursday morning and it was time to get my shit together and get out to Sydney Domestic Airport.

Again QANTAS (Queer & Nasty Try Another Service) was still leaps and bounds above it's horrid competitors.

Arriving into this city (third in the past 12 months as I do Australia all over), I could just feel the small town mentality. However it was simply beautiful, it is actually a clean city unlike my Sydney home town. What is it about Sydney and it's filthy streets?

Anyway I enjoyed my first two days in a simply divine hotel room which is actually bigger than my Sydney apartment!

To my surprise, on my first Friday in after after work drinks the AFL strong hold city of Adelaide choose to play an old vile Sandra Bullocks movie than have the two massive NRL matches on, a little disappointing but at the same time their was some fabulous viewing on the discovery channel of true crimes, much better than the BoringBelly - The Nothing Mile (as described as like Chances but with worse dialogue - I agree!).

Now onto my first weekend morning where I have nearly walked the entire CBD before 10am and have experienced the vibrant markets, to Rundle Street Mall (which I am just about to spend some cash) and also the seedy end of town Hindley Street, which actually continues straight on from Rundle Street.

Stay tuned for more live and direct updates from the city of churches as I do Australia All Over.

THE ROAD TO ADELAIDE COMMENCES TOMORROW!

A Weekend Full of Questions

I finished the mammoth Mother's Day weekend with a few big questions in my mind:

1. Did Melbourne Storm throw their game Vs Brisbane Broncos to make even more money?

2. Do any men still have hair on their legs?

3. Is 2010 a shit year in music?

4. Is Underbelly - The Golden Mile, the most uneventful, boring piece of dog shit on television?

I watched Melbourne Storm play one of the worst NRL games on the weekend and it begs the question, now they are not playing for points and or anything, did some players put a few thousand on the game at good odds to win some extra drinking money?

I had a lovely visit to the Central Coast on the weekend and I found not only myself but even suburban married men of all ages hairless (in the leg region), is there no men with hairy legs anymore? And what brought on this craze?

2010 has been a rather weak year for music, with only Angus & Julia Stone and the John Butler Trio really issuing amazing full feature releases. I did hear Kele from the Bloc Party's solo track a few times over the weekend and I think his solo effort packed with awesome producers could now be possibly one of the best CD's of 2010. We also have SIA's album coming next month HOORAY!

Underbelly the Golden Mile - WTF! Does anything ever happen, does anyone die? What is the point Channel 9?

This series has been so frustrating and I almost feel like switching off (ditto with the Pacific) but hey I need something to bitch about.

Stay tuned reviews and the road to Sadeide begins this week....

Film Freak - Letters to Juliet

ROM COM ALERT!

Well I usually hate cheesy Rom Com's but I was in a cheesy mode and this movie was sweet and had heart so I lapped it up!

Chris Egan (ex H&A) has grown up and got his sexy on as the romantic lead in this film. I loved Vanessa Redgrave also in this film she is so classy and so sweet.

The film was sweet, had lovely scenery (fuck I am sounding old) and some very romantic and adorable moments. Chris Egan with less clothes on would have got it more stars but hey what you gonna do.

Letters to Juliet is a decent Rom om with likable actors and actresses making this a cut above the rest. 3 and a half stars.

The End - Theatre to make you sad :(

A one man play can go one way or the other, interesting or leaves you thinking about that nasty ingrown hair you just want to squeeze out, this play is one of the latter.

Look it had it's moments and I tried to concentrate but it just didn't work and it was just too much misery and let's just say there is too much misery in the world without sitting through another 65 minutes of it.

The End, only if you need to come down from 10 pills at Creamfields on the weekend, 2 stars.
