Film Freak: Hairspray Sign a-long

Hello Possums,

Well me and six other people (in the whole cinema) sat through the 9:30pm sing a-long session of Hairspray, starring the following:

Nikki Blonsky as Tracy Edna Turnblad
John Travolta as Edna Turnblad
Michelle Pfeiffer as Velma von Tussle
Christopher Walken as Wilbur Turnblad
Amanda Bynes as Penny Lou Pingleton
James Marsden as Cornelius "Corny" Collins
Queen Latifah as "Motormouth" Maybelle Stubbs
Brittany Snow as Amber Velma von Tussle
Zac Efron as Link Matthew Larkin
Elijah Kelley as Seaweed Joseph Stubbs
Allison Janney as Prudence "Prudy" Pingleton
Jerry Stiller as Mr. Pinky
Paul Dooley as Mr. Harriman F. Spritzer
Taylor Parks as Little Inez Stubbs

Now a movie with songs all about fat people can be either be really funny or a little dull over the a 2 hour period.

However the cast is extremely good looking (James Marsden is always a fav) and John Travolta looks way better as a chick.

Now for a light and fluffy film this was okay and unfortunately this was the pick of the shit list at Hoyts Broadway (god damn school holiday films!).

Now to some music news, the Big Day Out 2007 lineup will be announed next Tuesday on JJJ between 6am and 9am.

Now to my favourite tunes of the week:

Katie Noonan - Sunshine
Architecture in Helsinki - Hold Music
Kanye West - Good Life
Booty Luv - Don't Mess with my Man

Don't forget Miss Saigon is playing at Star City right now, it's a great night out at the Theatre, so get along!

A full length BLOG post will be coming soon to discuss Menopause and other long weekend activities! GO the STORM today!

Ciao

The Heat is on in Saigon

This week it has all been about Miss Saigon. What a show, what costumes, what great music and what spunks!

Thursday night I attended the preview and well it shows the cast has bonded together and really making this show so real and wonderful since I saw this last time in Melbourne.

Saturday was the wonderful opening night plus after party.

The cast are so hot and so totally nice. They are the most lovely group of people after I downed 17 glasses of Champagne.

The week has also been another boom for Summer Heights High, with more controversy than Anna Nicole Smith’s death.

I really do urge everyone to take part in the fantastic journey that is Miss Saigon, it truly is a beautiful show and yes I know I usually hate most things, but this was fab!

Next week I’m off to Menopause, hopefully Don’s Party and there will be plenty of gig reviews in the upcoming months.

A big HAPPY BIRTHDAY Fanny B, you’re an old bitch now, 25!

Happy Spring everyone and remember 9 our of 10 babies are conceived during the root fest that is known as Spring, so do us a favor and put on a rubber, cheers!

Oh my god hi, it's like totally RANDOM!

Well, well sorry for the delay in an update, the OPEC week really put me out!

Well before my holiday on the Mental Coast or as I like to call it Druitt by the Sea, I saw the final Priscilla performance at the Lyric Theatre. What a performance, Tony Sheldon, Daniel Scott and the company all put on a simply amazing finale. I almost shed a tear at the end as this has been a huge part of my 2007!

The after party on the other hand was a load of horse shit! I have said it before in my weekly broadblast's about Slide nightclub. Located on Sydney's run down, dangerous and junkie infested Darlinghurst this night club has more tabs on it's self than Andrew Johns after popping his third pill at the Church nightclub, UK.

First off a club/bar/music venue relies on the music it plays to keep punters on the dance floor, I don't think has been hits from Beyonce (particularly with those dreadful Dream on Girls), Pink & various other shit that not even 2Gay FM wouldn't touch.

Second the bar staff can't deny patrons paying for drinks with coins, money is money and on Oxford Street a queer dollar is a queer dollar, us mo's are moving in flocks to Newtown.

Third a Euro trash cloak room junkie who needs patron's to sign in the cloaks and frocks is a little embarrassing.

So with all my marketing experience I have summed up an honest advert for Slide:

Glide into Slide on Oxford Street for a night of sheer disappointment with cunty bar staff, do it yourself cloak room (charge of $5 per item) & music that even Nova 969 sounds similar wouldn't touch in there syndicated grave yard shifts. Slide it's a night out you'd prefer to forgot, but don't worry you probably will, one in every four drinks are spiked.

My lovely week away on the Mental Coast was simply wonderful. I saw an amazing Australian film "The Jammed" a fantastic and realistic journey into the bleak world of people smuggling.

I would also like to say congrates to the Chaser boys for showing up the Australian security at OPEC, what a load of horse shit.

A big congrates to the fantastic talent of Chris Lilley for another wonderful series "Summer Heights High", what a great new show. It's right after the Chaser Wednesday nights at 9:30pm ABCTV.

Now on an ex ABC show Kath & Kim. We all know Goods News Week once it left the ABC was dead and buried after a few short weeks. I feel the same is about to happen at Seven. Squashed in between such rubbish as Hot Property (loved that guy in Priscilla, but sorry your TV show is shit) and some show about and American bogan named Earl, it never really stood much of a chance. And when the comedy was recycled and no longer relevant it really was the final nail in the coffin. The anti Howard episode had a few people talking, most of them work for Today Tonight at Seven so it's simple cross promotion working overtime to keep their ratings up.

This last week back in the city of sin lead me to the Opera House for two special nights of Tori Amos. She is truly a fantastic performer, performing many hits from her long and very successful career. She uses her four wonderful alter egos so well and I must say I love the wigs! Her underground success has been a growing phenomena across the globe with beautiful tracks and some simply amazing cover versions of tracks done by the likes of Emimen to Nirvana. Both nights had very different sets and were simply bliss, the Concert Hall at the Opera House is a truly beautiful venue and was always the best venue in town for this concert series. Her American Doll Posse CD is a hit and miss affair but with such a strong back catalogue her performances were varied and truly amazing, on several occasion I could fell goose bumps on the back of my neck.

The next week I'll be off the the simply stunning Miss Saigon, a full review will be posted shortly.

Sorry again for the delay in posting something new.

I dedicate this post to the amazing new Shit Me Spears track "Gimme More" a new track for all the gutter trash mothers of tomorrow to train for the strip clubs of tomorrow.
