Live Music - I LOVE IT - Dancing around in Dunny Paper

God I love to dance and I love to dance away to Girl Talk!

This gig was amazing, with dunny paper guns, confetti, balloons and more sweaty bodies than at Sydney's Big Day Out!

With mash ups galore, sing a long anthem's, dance tastic tracks and more fun this was one epic gig!

Words cannot describe how FAB this was, a MASSIVE 5 stars!

Live Music - I LOVE IT - Going BONKERS!

DIZZEE!

God I love this man!

What a dance album for 2009! Tongue N Cheek, all the hits, Bonkers, Dirtee Cash, Holiday & Dance Wiv Me! Love it! He saved all the these gems for last with no encore, and you know how much I hate an encore!

What a set opening with "Bad Behaviour" produced by Tiesto of all people and then moving through other great album tracks and old favs like "Old Skool" and a great remix of "Flex" featuring David Guetta Sexy Bitch!

The set went off the crowd went off and young Scribe the support wasn't half bad too!

A great set a great night, I am in love with Dizzee

4 stars!

Hottest 100 2009

Now I leaked the number one earlier this month and I think that basically spoiled the entire day, however with that the countdown did seem to be missing something this year, the announcers were rather odd combos Richard the King Kingsmill and Vijay and Zan & the Doctor EEEEEEHHHH WTF?

Anyway Mumford and Sons - my top pick for the one hit wonder of 2009 did win by a lot by there were some random songs in the top 10 I didn't except for example the below:

Art vs. Science - Parlez Vous Francais? (yay go Sydney but WTF?)
Lisa Mitchell - Coin Laundry (in love with the album but where are the great album tracks in the countdown?)

There was a few less Aussie songs than usual and there were some big ones missing Temper Trap - Sweet Disposition? Hilltop Hoods - Light You Burned?

Can't believe it!

Anyway until next year, I still prefer my 100 best song lists!

Top 5 @ 5 - Thu 28 Jan 2010

1. Operator Please - Logic (a great return by the young Aussies!)
2. The XX - Islands
3. Miike Snow - Animal

Film Freak - Up in the Air

I hate it when you are really excited about a movie and you get there and it is just totally not what you expected or what you wanted the film to be like!

Anyway this film was clever and decent but nothing like I was hoping for.

George Clooney was great as a cold and soulless middle aged man and his trainee was extremely annoying.

Several parts of the movie just didn't work out exactly how you thought which was good but still parts of this film just seemed to lack connection to the viewer.

I found myself a little bored also in parts as the running time could have been dramatically edited.

Overall an average American indie film.

Film Freak - It's Complicated

Now a bit of a rant, I thought I would totally hate this movie and when I entered the cinemaplex to see a see of grey haired women sitting there with their knitting needles out and hearing aids ready to be switched up full ball.

However this movie was a real shock Meryl was FAB! Her house in the movie, workplace and everywhere she was was just simply lush! I find myself feeling increasingly old!

The story was cute and Meryl and Alec had great chemistry, I love the fact that I only need their first names as I am a top notch film reviewers.

Anyway all and all this film dealt with loneliness, romance with old people and family values. All good themes and morals to approach in 2010.

I did enjoy this film and all the different relationships explored during it's rather long but average running time.

Overall an enjoyable film experience.

Offical Bran Nue Dae Review

Bran Nue Dae is seriously one of the most amazing films I have ever seen, and it really hurts me to read some rather horrid reviews. Yes it’s a musical, yes soon scenes aren’t shoot all that well, yes every movie has issues that only critics who are looking for them would pick up. Your average Martha would not even pick up if the film stopped for five minutes.

Now onto the movie after my soapbox rant. I don’t like Jessica Maubouy but this film turned me around, she is naturally beautiful and does actually have a good voice. Missy Higgins was just dreamy as an annoying hippie and her songs in the movie were delightful.

Ernie Dingo was simply awesome ditto for Magda. Dan Sultan is just simply sex on legs and an awesome talent, Deb Mailman is a terrific sleazy drunk and Geoffrey rush is a hoot!

I truly believe this film for it’s amazing vocal performances, it’s light hearted look at a lot of issues facing the youth of the nation and aboriginals. This was a refreshing coming of age film when there are so many crap ones out there.

A big 5 stars for a Bran Nue Dae

Film Freak - The Lovely Bones

Well all I can say is I sat through this film a lot of the time thinking, well I spent $14 of my hard earned pay to watch this?

Yes even the super sexy Mark Wahlberg could not save this film, and boy does he just get better with age.

Peter Jackson made all those Ring movies which I have zero interest in and may have kicked some goals with those but definitely won't win too many people over with this weird exercise in film making.

I saw it with someone who read the book and apparently doesn't do the book any justice and she even hated it more than me. I have had a great run with good films lately so it is to be expected that some shit will jump out at me and this was shit.

Susan Sarandon briefly saved the movie at it's worst point but even her outrageous and mildly entertaining character could not help this stinker.

Peter Jackson, stick to kids fantasy not this rubbish, half a star

Tassie - The Great Roadtrip

I think in my two days with the car in Tassie I clocked up a monster 500km, and nearly did as much damage to the precious environment as the Sydney NYE fireworks.

So I took off and immediately got lost randomly finding myself in a shopping mall car park. I then shot off to the creepy and extremely eerie Port Arthur. This place was a spot of beauty and also great sadness, the memorial garden was an extremely peaceful place but you could just feel great sadness and loss all around.

I did a nice cruise around the islands surrounding Port Arthur and then jumped back in my sexy hire car and made my way up the coastal highway which was just amazing, I found myself thinking wow, OMG out loud on a regular basis.

I stooped for a late lunch in the beach side Swansea and then made my way to the Delicious Campelltown, much like ours, nothing going on.

I then headed back on the real freeway one lane and one way to travel FAST!

I speed back into Hobart for my emotional last night in town.

I woke early the next day after my monster trip around one of Australia's prettiest places. I headed to the small but international airport for my final Qantas trip for quiet sometime.

I headed back into Sydney feeling 2010 was going to be a good year (not a good night BEP thanks, but a good year).

The Great Mosciow Circus & a sleepy seaside City

I woke up in the lovely Tassie, well Hobart to be exact for another day in a sleepy little town with the single goal of booking a hire car for a monster road trip the very next day.

I managed to book a car and also sort myself out with some lovely breakfast.

I then headed off to the wonderful Great Moscow Circus for my third time in as many years.

The show had changed slightly with a few new acts, some new lighting and a local boy from Burnie.

The show was well received and extremely entertaining.

I then took my final long looks around the city as tomorrow was a HUGE road trip day.... details to come xoxo Gossip Girl

The Real Sydney to Hobart

To bring in 2010 I decided a trip to see my real map of Tassie was in order and let's say I did it with style.

With flying the one and only airline in this fine brown land "Qantas" (or as a friend refers to it as Queer and Nasty Try Another Service LOL), can't deal with the other budget ones.

I landed in the tranquil land to have the most informative history lesson on one of Australia's most picturesque spots.

I got into the very hip and happening town to be told from the taxi man "it's 7 day trading in TAS" well I'm be damned as 90% of the places was in lock down.

I retired to my hotel after exploring the town and seeing the wondering Taste Tasmania food expo on the water. I also saw the marvelous Sydney to Hobart yachts.

I could feel myself really enjoying this space and stay tuned as my visit will be updated soon.....

Film Freak - Sherlock Holmes

God I love Guy Ritchie and not because he was married to one of the biggest Gay icons ever but because he makes a top film!

This Guy Ritchie directed film is like Batman Begins & Dark Knight, it's a darker more realistic superhero/comic book style film.

I enjoyed the super action scenes and also the super sexy Judd Law & former junkie Robert Downey Jr made this film.

I can feel a sequel coming on and with Guy Ritchie doing - The Real RocknRolla - Sequel to RocknRolla I think he may jump on the 2010 sequel bandwagon.

Overall good effects, good plot, nice, 3 and a half stars.
