The BLOG is back from the USA

After around 2 weeks in the USA and then Brisbane, it's so nice to be home with my washing machine, my TV shows (man how much good shit is back on the box) and my own bed and home comforts.

Holidays are great but their is always something special about returning home. I was super happy also to return to my lovely boot camp this AM with some great folk and two super amazing trainers. Thanks y'all.

While I am thanking people, thanks to all my co workers for being such a dream to return back to work too, thank you to my BF for putting up with me, thanks to Koko coffee shop for helping me flick over to Soy Milk and thank you to my Mum, what a sweet SMS you sent me today.

Will continue to update on my holiday and maybe upload a photo or two and will bring you a film review real soon I promise. But seriously how shit does Tammy look? Right?

OK until next time, speak soon OK....

Brisbane: Blog returns to normal tomorrow

It's a less angry post than last night but seriously if you're kids are cunts they don't belong in public, that is private. So after a dreamy breakfast, a good sleep and a serious iView catch up session this AM (man I'm gonna miss David + Margaret) I am ready for my final day of holidays. Work returns tomorrow, as does boot camp (fuck I need it) and the Sydney routine starts up. As a holiday ends its the countdown to the holiday season.

Goodbye Honolulu, hello Brisbane!

And a big FUCK YOU to the fucking savages on Hawaiian airlines flight today, you and your six or seven kids were absolutely disgusting on this flight. Thanks for allowing your kids to scream, yell and run around the plane for all ten hours of the flights. Yes you in rows 28 and 29. God help your kids with dumb ass parents like this.

Honolulu: Wet n Wild, final day, sad face

It's always sad when holidays come to an end, except for if you're at Wet n Wild. Not the shit house Sydney one where you can wait up to 45 minutes for a ride it Honolulu where the most I waited was three folks in front of me, cray cray. C'mon Sydney get it right. Do it for the West if anything, it's fucked living out there (or so I hear) so c'mon. Anyway Honolulu, easy best USA city this trip. The sunset swim tonight pre dinner, the food, the people, just choice. Thanks Honolulu it's been real xo

Honolulu: it's all happening at the fucking Cheese Factory

All up in here, ran into the lovely and delightful Zangers, then had a delightful host from NYC who was divine and then a lovely couple from Woy Woy! Spent the whole lunch gossiping away whilst smashing sweet potato fries, chicken and avo sannies and of course.... Cheesecake xo

Goodbye SFO, Aloha Honolulu!

Aloha again, this time from Oahu! Loving it, to be honest San Francisco was not my US city, but to be fair I had a shocking cold/bad tummy. I will do a full update once I return home and speaking of home, go on you 360, yes I also feel the Aussie flag (in the wrong hands) leads to dickhead behaviour.

San Francisco: Last full day, Cheesecake Factory and finally new shoes

So the city is busy, filled with hills and homeless folk, totally flies the pink flag and has cheap shoes at my favourite US shoe store, Journeys! Hooray new Tigers, as I chucked out a water damaged, Segway riding pair in Portland. As we head into our final US city before a quick stop into Brisbane it's time for me to reflect on what feels like forever on holidays. I will do a full update of my favourite things, places, hotels (Maui so far is looking good, it was divine) and my reaction to the Aussie dollar worth less than the US? Mot folk here look like they are two weeks away from bankruptcy. Enou for today, more tomorrow, can't believe the winner of the Australian X Factor, poor babe see you doing in store CD signings and bargain bins around Sydney summers post Christmas 2014. xo

San Francisco: Third city, the city of the Golden Gate

So tourist mode today on a hop on, hop off bus, loving it. But of course after jumping time zones, cities I got a wee bug which thank goodness think its passing. Fuck my belly is all I have to say on some holidays. After leaving Portland for dust, it's time or some California action, no longer tax free like Oregon, this place is a little more busy, with a lot more homeless folk and poverty, but also a lot more happening in general than back in Portland. Until tomorrow, Good Morning Australia!

Portland: bye my new friend - Keep Portland Weird, indeed

Yes it's time to farewell Portland and today it's time to get ready for some West Coast love in San Fran! Will keep you posted on how another West Coast blows my mind. Portland, you're weird, wonderful and wet, just like Seattle and a little like Vancouver, you're ok in my books xo

Portland: Part Two - Segway, Voodoo Donuts and Tapas

Fit a lot into a sleep in second day. Started with a massive breakfast, followed by a fantastic Segway tour of Portland downtown, next a quick shop downtown. Then saw my lovely Mrs Lamb for a nice night of tapas and famous as Voodoo Donuts. The line was a treat with a load of alt-J Portland hipsters also in the mood for a donut. Safe travels Mrs Lamb, miss ya guts x

Well Done to the ABC & Mental As

As of right now the week has raised almost $1.2 million dollars. What a brilliant effort! There needs to be more of this and let's just hope after the ABC has proved how effective they can work on one topic no more funds will be cut.

One more nice little picture, from a picture perfect weekend here in Sydney before eI take off tonight.

Dear readers if I do drop the ball with posts over the next few weeks never fear I will be back soon. Until then take care of yourself and one another xx

Spring in Sydney Continues & Holiday Mode BLOG alert

Hello dear readers and I hope you enjoyed my photo essay of yesterday in Sydney running around the Eastern Suburbs. Yes no time for film reviews this weekend as the holiday commences tomorrow night from 9:30pm. And let me tell you, I can hardly wait to get on that big jet plane.

So warning their maybe fewer entries or better spaced out entries with unfortunately no images or fun. But stay with me when I return at the end of the month shit gets real as the year is closing in.

Can I just say how lucky we are in Sydney to experience this wonderful change into Summer through Spring, as I ran around Centennial Park this morning (amongst the dads in lycra (yuck)) I thought thank god Winter is done and hello Summer.

ABC Mental Health Week

This is why we need and must fight for the ABC, when the mainstream commercial networks are spewing out the Bachelor, Big Brother & yet another singing competition (with the winning having no hope of ever selling a platinum selling record) it's time to applaud the ABC for bringing Mental Health to the homes of many Australians.

Through Q&A with a very awkward Bob Katter to the weekly series Please Like Me, Josh Thomas is doing an outstanding job showing how he has grown up gay and dealt with his mothers mother illness.

Australia needs to talk about mental illness amongst it's young, middle aged and old. This is an extremely important topic and if the ABC is game enough to cover the important issues, please don't cut their funding. As a tax payer myself I don't approve of my taxes funding a war or the outrageous paid parental leave scheme. So if I can nominate for more of my taxes to the ABC funding pool that would be great.

And to Bob Katter, some good comes out of your mouth but unfortunately like so many of the Canberra decision makers you are way too old and completely out of touch of what is going on around you in the real world.

Unfortunately times have changed since the 1950's.

After watching the fantastic Back Seat Drivers edition this week about Fear I realised I am not the only one who is not terrified we are going to be attacked by IS or invaded by boat people but a large percentage of folk all feel the same. Fear comes from reading the Daily Telegraph, fear comes from the Andrew Bolts and Alan Jones of the world.

Australia stand up and be thankful for this wonderful country but challenge mainstream media and the two word slogans which have won Mr Abbott a frightening higher approval rating.

Holidays next week for me too on a lighter note so please note their will be less (or more - depending on wi-fi) posts over the coming weeks I spend in the USA.

Well done again to the ABC.

Film Freak 2014 - Annabelle

I love James Wan, he is a great Australian export who is on the top of the Horror genre. With the Saw franchise now finished up, the Insidious film series has a third on the way and the film that gave us Annabelle "The Conjuring" is also set to release a second chapter.

I was nervous, one about seeing a horror film, at my age, but more importantly after the simply brilliant and flawless Gone Girl, reviewed yesterday right here.

Now by looking at the still of the trailer how can this be scary? Will Wan has a way of even making this mother fucking ugly doll somewhat scary and keep my interest for over one and a half hours.

The run time of this film was really tight. The start was the only slow start but once the haunting and the fucking evil doll dropped by Wan put his foot on the scare excel-orator.

I was really impressed by this film, it was not as amazing as Gone Girl but it was still solid (I knew a film like Gone Girl would turn me in a negative Nancy blogger) and it really delivered some terrifying thrills.

This genre is a little crowded with Wan's other efforts and also the Paranormal franchise.

Annabelle it's far from perfect but it did the job for a Tuesday night scare fest for me. Annabelle rates 3 scary as fuck creepy ass dolls.

Film Freak 2014 - Gone Girl

Is it too early to call a film my movie of 2014? Well no because Gone Girl is brilliant! Yes flawless and simply compelling for the almost three hour experience in my local cinema.

Ben Affleck delivers the performance of his career and who would have through Legally Blonde Reese Witherspoon would go on to produce this David Fincher (Social Network, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (US version) and many more) film. Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross collaborate again on the amazing and mind blowing soundtrack.

The bad thing about a film so wonderful (yet so fucked - if you have seen this film the twist and turns and brilliant!) is the next time I go to the cinema (hopefully Annabelle) it will be hard to be as good as this wonderfully made all round terrific feature.

I know the long weekend is over but make a date to see this film ASAP it is truly remarkable.

I can't give away too much but watch the above trailer and now this is truly my favourite film of 2014 (thus far). I am ruining the ratings system and giving this a MONSTER 5.5 out of 5. I loved every minute of this, no special effects, no comic book heroes, no sic fi shit, just fucking solid as shit drama.

LOVED it.

Now to my post last night, LOVE it. If you missed it, YouTube didn't:

It is Labor Day after all huh?

Tony Abbott Boo'd at the NRL Grand Final

Too funny for words, I expect this on YouTube any moment now. That said well done to the hunks at South Sydney Rabbitohs it was well deserved and even better for the footy fans who gave it to the vile Prime Minister a good boo.

Let's hope 2015 is equally good for South Sydney Rabbitohs as this team is all filler and no killer. Poor Issac Luke too he needs to get a go next year, must have been so hard on the side line for the little pumpkin.

And a big hello to one and all celebrating the half way mark of the October Long Weekend.

Can I also say a big hello to all the lovely folk I enjoyed the last Strictly Ballroom performance with today, y'all all rock xo

Now to tomorrow, hopefully I will chalk up a film review for y'all, until then toddle loo.

Anthony Callea is... Totes Gay

So last night it was my great pleasure to see Anthony Callea at one of my favourite venues in Sydney ever. Sydney has too many venues, but not enough good venues:

Allphones Arena - ranks about number 100 on my list, it's too big, it's in the middle of nowhere and despite seeing some ultimate pop stars there (Beyonce, Gwen Stefani & Lady Gaga) the venue has no soul - nada, zip, nothing.

Qantas Credit Card Union Arena - AKA it will always be Sydney Entertainment Centre. So if a large artist has a show at either SEC or Allphones. It's always an easy choice SEC. Near China Town and close to EVERYTHING this venue is a must for Sydney and let's hope they don't fuck up the re development.

Hordern Pavillion - Also soulless and at the white elephant also known as Fox Studios. I have seen some great gigs there and the sound in the venue goes from perfect to rather shit.

Metro, Enmore & Factory Theatre - All perfect depending on the size of the act and the mode you need to be in.

Big Top, Luna Park - Over the bridge and hardly ever used. There is a reason there are limited gigs there.

State Theatre - Great for a sit down gig, but if you want to dance, forget it. Great location.

So the Enmore was perfect for last night, only other venue which could have worked is the State. I also neglected to mention the Star Event Centre mainly because I regard this only for commercial and corporate events I went to (another former Idol gig there) and it lacked everything (except security who made the venue fill like a detention centre).

So back to Anthony, and my boy is it totally awkward when he swears or talks dirty. He is far to clean cut to swear and with an audience filled with older ladies or teen girls it was a bit weird to hear fuck come out of his sweet mouth.

He did have a random fan base with some older ladies rather pissed and vocal in regards to his spray tanned self and random outfit changes.

It was one of those concerts that was so bad and a guilty pleasure that it was fantastic. This evening was full of covers, no originals and he even threw in the Prayer for good measure (marking ten years of his Idol performance of the song) and it was wall to wall George Michael.

I was surprised there were so many Westies there and a sprinkle of gays. There George Michael hits came at you think and fast and with a couple of Idol special appearances Casey Donovan and Damien Leith he belted out a few famous George Michael duets.

Casey Donovan was the highlight and the two looked great together on stage. I Knew You Were Waiting For Me lead us into an interval where the bar was serving up more house wine than at a Shire bar's happy hour and the second act commenced.

Overall it was a fun night and the crowd really loved his admiration of George Michael.

Look cover bands and covers are not usually my bad but this was really a bit of fun.

Revenge Season 4 commences (not in Australia though - thanks Channel 7) & The Bridge finishes (maybe for good)

Revenge dies at the end of season 2 and season 3 was just tiresome. Season 4 flashes forward somewhat and a few new hair styles are set to rock out season 4. However this show is really skating on thin ice.

The plot is loose, the cast have all been with each other and less a few major characters that meet their end in at the conclusion of the third season.

The Bridge has also come to a close on the FX network and unlike my other shows that didn't rate that well in the 2013-2014 Summer Season I think this will get cancelled. It never rated super well in it's first season but the second (even though it was largely better) rated very poorly.

Back to Revenge real quick Channel 7 has decided not to Fast Track this one so again Australia's will head to their favourite Torrent site to avoid weekly online spoilers.

Australian TV networks have really lost the plot and with the upcoming non ratings period coming up expect the torrents (much to the Governments annoyance) getting visited more frequently.

So with all this TV being consumed it's also time to announce that the BLOG will be taking a wee break whilst I am away in the USA in a couple of weeks, so throughout October they may or may not be less posts. However I will try and see a film or two over this very exciting October Long Weekend.

And not to forget with the Long Weekend, go the almighty Rabbitohs this weekend. Shame about my future EX husband Issac Luke, but mate you're time will come.

NSW let's get ready to rumble as the long weekend is almost upon us.

Oh last TV moment, Gotham is already giving Game of Thrones a run for it's money with the most downloaded show. Sorry GOT another pirate show is on the idiot box.

Until next time it's off to Anthony Callea sings the songs of George Michael tomorrow... Yes I am a G-A-Y

Film Freak 2014 - The Equalizer

Pretty much sure the School Holidays was not the perfect time to release this ultra violent 2 hour thriller with Denzel Washington as the lead but let's see what I thought...

Lets start with Chloe Grace Moretz going from If I Stay to a little more like Hit Girl in Kick Ass and I have to say I did like her as the vulnerable hooker that Denzel chats to at his local all night diner when the shit really gets real.

So Russians as the bad guys, Denzel as the Home Mart sleep deprived all loveable hero and the body count just grows and grows (in the second half of the feature).

It takes a bit to set up this film but once it starts it really fires with all forms of potential murder weapons from your local Home Mart.

The film itself deserves its MA rating for so much violence and just hatred from the vile Martin Csokas who plays one of the lead Russian bad guys.

Look no new ground is broken but I must say it held my attention (for the slightly long) 2 hour running time.

It really is for the over 15's only and maybe guys out there (into chicks) not a great date night film, The Equalizer, It rates a solid 3.5 nail gun to the neck Stars.
