Film Freak 2011 - Unknown

I have kinda been wanting to see this film for a while, and finally I saw it in a rather small event cinema. The film started part of the way through which was really fine as I got a free movie tiket. Love youse at Event Cinemas!

So it was Liam Neeson, losing his mind and his marbles or is he? There are some good twists and plost changes but overall it seems like it has all been done before.

I enjoyed the speed of the film at the start but after the breakdown the film started to take a slow turn for the worse.

Liam Neeson was the saving grace, he was awesome in Taken and now this is his second decent thriller/action film. I would have liked the second half to be a little shorter and have more of a conclusion but anyway.

Unknown is a decent movie but it will be on DVD soon so maybe wait until then 3 stars.

Film Freak 2011 - Red Riding Hood

Okay so first thing you notice is the dropping of "Little", yes Red Riding Hood is totally grown up and in a love triangle. The Twilight diretor has created a sorta Twilight like nararation over the top and those long longing looks came into play also.

So I never guessed the wolf and it did have a good twist, so if you like a who done it? you may like this.

It is not great but it is definately not as bad as everyone is saying. I liked the lead Amanda whatever her surname is and the supporting cast was decent.

A good film, not great but enjoyable for a wet weekend in the city.

3 stars.

Film Freak 2011 - Limitless

So was this a 90 minute or thereabouts advertisement for estasy or another drug? It seemed like it glorified drug use in a big way (yes it showed the effects and touched on a downward spiral) but hey that's just how I saw it.

I also found Bradley ooper really unattractive in this film, usually he is sexy as fuck but not this time around.

Abbie Cornish and Robert DeNiro were good in really small roles but still nice to see our Abbie Cornish on the big screen.

So did I like it, average story line, nicely shoot and a decent conclusion but still it felt like it was missing something. I also felt really bored in parts of the film.

Anyway it was average at best 2 and a half stars for Bradley Cooper and his Limitless activities

Film Freak 2011 - Griff the Invisible

Griff the Invisible is a strange film but I liked it non the same, well in parts. I liked that it was film entirely around the city CBD, I love Ryan Kwantan (from TV's True Blood) and I did like the simple love story but all in all I really struggled with this film.

It just looked cheap and when I say simple love story I mean and the whole idea behind the movie was pretty simple and basic.

I wish I liked this more, I tried and failed it was an okay film but after seeing a real load of great films this one kinda stood out.

I can only give Griff the Invisible the 2 stars.

Wild Duck Theatre Action

Loved every minute of this theatre and loving the no interval. Also Toby Schmitz is totally growing on me, he was also in the next film I'm reviewing in two shakes of a willy.

Yes I'm a little behind with my reviews but hey, Wild Duck was just great and a really nice welcome back into heading off to the Theatre.

Well act, short sharp and direct this was great, 4 stars.

I'm off to Dubbo soon!

Can't freaking wait!

And hey don't forget to vote, you can vote early at some sexy pre-polling stations around the traps, get on it!

Mark Ronson @ the Enmore

Okay I loved Version, I liked Record Collection and Ohh Wee from his first disc was a fav for a moment or two, so I was in two minds about his gig, how will the guest vocalists work? What songs will he include in his set? ow will this whole thing go down?

Well it went down well and the song choice was ace including some originals from the guests and some surprises along the way. The Bike Song was dropped early in the mix which was a huge crowd pleaser.

"Somebody to Love Me" and "Bang Bang Bang" were also awesome however it was the intermission DJ set which blew my mind. It had everything from a remix of Bang Bang Bang to Depeche Mode, LOVED IT! Mark Ronson and his guests namely the fab Spank Rock, MDNA, the dude from Phantom Planet and the dude from Miike Snow all made appearances.

Mark Ronson undoubtably has a huge following in this fine land and I now for one will definitely looking forward to seeing his live experience next time it rolls around.

Mark Ronson at the Enmore made me smile, dance and laugh on a Friday night and for that he gets 3 and a half solid as stars.

Ke$ha review 4 U

Okay so realistically I did not that that much about Ke$ha nor a lot of her music, the few songs I heard I kinda liked to pump myself up at the gym, and these were my highlights “Tik Tok” was fantastic, “We R Who We R” was like being at the Mardi Gras and “Take it Off” had people literally taking their clothes off, so much love!

The sound was sonically fantastic during her opening numbers before the first of a couple costume changes. The set was fab also, I have never seen a set used in the Hordern space before and it totally worked. I must say the whole skanky nature of this woman is such an act, though and her stories and nasty talk you almost felt like she was reading a script for a daytime soap. She did however genuinely seem to have a fab time as did her band and amazing back up dancers.

Overall this concert was a perfect pop experience and she now has a mega fan in me, Ke$ha may not be around forever but while she is here I love her sick n nasty, 4 and half stars for a ghetto fabulous show!

2011 in Music... So Far

So far in 2011 Lady Gaga and Radiohead have dominated headlines for the way and the times they have dropped! Art Vs Science have released and impressive debut and the list of albums for 2011 is some what impressive, Adele has already dropped a critically acclaimed monster hit, Cut Copy released a less than impressive new album with no big hits like "Hearts on Fire" or "Faraway" which was a shame when there is apparently a huge buzz overseas for them and Lupe Fiasco is finally set to release his third album "Lasers".

In big pop albums Britney Spears will drop another album (will it suck, if the first single is anything to go by, YES), Wynter Gordon will try not to be a dirty talking one hit wonder, and Lady Gaga will try and make it two hits in a row. Will it happen though, Madonna fans are livid at her latest (new video posted below), some fans are isolated with her clear slant towards the gays now.

With promises of new albums by Blink 182, Foo Fighters, Missy Elliot (Will "Block Party" ever see the light of day?), Limp Bizkit (yes the Durst is coming back) and that collaboration between Kanye West and Jay Z watch the Throne will drop soon.

Watch this space 2011 could be a bumper year in music!

New GAGA video and it ain't half bad

Born this Way

Film Freak 2011 - Rabbit Hole

Nicole Kidman is a c*%$ yes I said it, her character in this film Becca is a total
c$%#. Her 4 year old son may have died but never before has Nicole Kidman been so cranky, so bitchy and so fired up, therefore I loved her in this film!

Nicole Kidman, love or hate her and I usually don't think much of the plastic fantastic ginger but she did a great job not only acting but producing this film. It's a basic story but so well acted like the Kings Speech that is so watchable and you just can't wait for the drama to hit the fan and Becca to totally lose it at her husband Howie (Aaron Eckhart) also fantastic or some random at the supermarket.

This film won't make most people over joyed, it's depressing, dark (in some parts) and it's comedy is almost as insensitive as that Chaser sketch.

Nicole Kidman your back in my good books after that horrid Australia film well done, 4 stars.
