The Masked Cinema 2022 - Thor: Love and Thunder

Oh dear, Thor: Love & Thunder is another Marvel/2022 flop!

The fourth film based on the Marvel Comics character Thor, is the sequel to 2017's Thor: Ragnarok.

The film is directed by Taika Waititi, starring Chris Hemsworth as Thor alongside Christian Bale, Tessa Thompson, Jaimie Alexander, Waititi, Russell Crowe, and Natalie Portman. Waititi wanted to differentiate Love and Thunder from Ragnarok, seeking to make a romance film and 1980s-inspired adventure.

In Love & Thunder, Thor attempts to find inner peace, but must return to action and recruit Valkyrie (Thompson), Korg (Waititi), and Jane Foster (Portman)—who is now the Mighty Thor—to stop Gorr the God Butcher (Bale) from eliminating all gods.

The film earned praise for its light-heartedness and cast performances (particularly those of Bale and Portman), while criticism was aimed at its inconsistencies in tone and screenplay.

However here is the bad news. Love & Thunder is a stinker. I get more Disney vibes than Marvel vibes. It felt like the perfect KIDS school holidays film.

From stupid goats (maybe for the teen stoners) to the childish humour, this is up there with Jurassic Park for being a MASSIVE letdown.

So much so I fell asleep in a part of this blockbuster.

It doesn't matter what I say, Thor will hammer home a top box office dollar, however it's just not a good film. Like the currently airing series Ms Marvel, I think the whole Marvel thing is running it's course. I can't believe it I enjoyed Doctor Strange soooooo much more than this. I gave that 3 stars. I give this, 1 star.

It's a sad state of the film interesting when Russell Crowe starts showing off his tuck shop arms. VOM
