Thelma Plum first emerged in the early 2010s with songs you may be familiar with like Father Said and Round Here. Round Here was featured on one of two EP's before Better in Blak the debut studio album was released on Friday.
Rounding off a wonderful Naidoc Week this week, Better in Blak is an album about growth and growing up as it is self-acceptance and self-love. Thelma Plum has been on my stereo for a number of years now, Father Said was an instant favourite tune, with it's sweet nature.
Dollar and Round Here were just super catchy tunes, whilst Better in Blak is a mature well put together set of tunes.
I always encourage readers to get on board with a fairly new artist on Sundays, Thelma has been on the radio and the road for a while, however getting her debut album out there is a huge achievement.
We should celebrate and check out the album below via Apple Music or Spotify. You can also check out some earlier tunes including a really raw version of Father Said with her dog Rosie along for the ride.

God the reviews were bad, but shit this was some Twilight basic type shit. Who read this fucking book? Are they OK? After was badly acted and poorly cast, with no real names except an unrecognisable Selma Blair this is a summer stinker. But a sequel is on the way.
I guess when you have no real talent in the film, wages are cheap. With a fourteen million dollar budget the film is currently sitting at just under seventy million in box office, so in a sense it's a big success for the studio.
I am having an anti Disney moment a present, with Toy Story 4, Aladdin and once it's here The Lion King hogging all the screens across the country at present, it's hard for decent films, like my review last week for the brilliant, Parasite to reach an audience.
God help any Australian films that want a release in 2019 on the big screen.

ARIA nominated artist Olivia Jayne Bartley AKA Olympia has just released her second album Flamingo on Friday. Today it's time to take a deep dive into Olympia's career thus far.
Hailing from Wollongong, NSW and born in my year (1982) Olympia released her debut album Self Talk in 2016. With two albums and an EP out now, Olympia also has a number of radio favourite singles behind her.
Her recent track Hounds has been gaining airplay on Triple J joining previous singles from Flamingo, Star City and Shoot to Forget.
Olympia now calls Melbourne home and no doubt lucky punters will get to see these new songs live when she tours later this year. Not only playing Australian dates but dates across Europe, for tickets go HERE.

Annabelle Comes Home is the latest in the Conjuring film series. Ahead of the third film coming out in 2020, we get the third Annabelle film. Man this doll is angry, Annabelle ain't taking shit this time around, this time we find ourselves in 1968.
Finally the beautiful Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga are back as Ed and Lorraine Warren, this film was also dedicated to Lorraine who sadly passed away April 18,2019. Yes Ed and Lorraine are real people.
James Wan continues to dominate Hollywood with a far better toy story gone evil, than the recent reboot of Chucky.
Ed and Lorraine's daughter Judy gets the spooks this time around with her babysitter, her pesky friend and potential love interest all getting spooked too.
The film maintained pace whilst being a bit of fun along the way. I enjoyed this far more than Child's Play but remember being more scared in the freaky AF The Nun.
All in all Annabelle Comes Home is still a solid Conjuring release, 3 Stars.

Watched on, Costa had already had a good night, he and Karl were also the butt of most jokes, but Costa seems like a top bloke.
Waleed had won before, Doctor Doctor is dreadful and Keller would be on a huge salary across Channel Ten and WSFM.
Also who is Eve Morey and what does Sam Mac do on Bumrise?
Other than all the Gold Logie nonsense, the ABC and Foxtel ran riot. Not to mention STAN did fairly well with one of their only original productions in the last TV year, Bloom. STAN played many an ad during the Logies telecast (thanks to their partnership with Nine) so it will be interested to see if the Aussie streaming service picks up new viewers.

Winners included in the popular categories, Most popular actor, Luke McGregor (Rosehaven), whilst the Most popular actress was shared ABC/Nine talent Deborah Mailman (Bite Club/Mystery Road).
ABC scooped Most popular presenter with the bearded Costa Georgiadis (Gardening Australia) whilst Most popular drama program was taken out by Mystery Road beating Neighbours, The Cry and even Wentworth.
Most popular reality program was another big win for Channel Ten with 11 year old reality titan MasterChef Australia winning the silver.
Most popular panel or current affairs program was another win for Channel Ten, they may do terrible some nights on the ratings, but The Project beat some serious ABC programs.
Most outstanding drama series was a huge win for Foxtel with Wentworth edging out another Foxtel title Secret City: Under the Eagle.
Most outstanding actor was an overseas investment in Australian TV with a win for Scott Ryan (Ray Shoesmith, Mr Inbetween). This does however air locally on Foxtel.
Most outstanding actress was another ABC silver, this time for Jenna Coleman (Joanna, The Cry). Even edging out the wonderful, Judy Davis (Emma James, Mystery Road), exceptional Leah Purcell (Rita Connors, Wentworth) and SBS star Nicole Chamoun (Amirah Al-Amir, On The Ropes).
Until next year, the Logies are all done and dusted. Here are a few highlights or lowlights depending on the audience.
My second Korean film for 2019, I am officially hooked! Parasite is outstanding, like the brilliant Burning, this was a 100% mind fuck!
Bong Joon-ho recently gave us Okja on Netflix whilst won the Palme d'Or at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival for Parasite.
This film is all about class in South Korea and man is it messed up!
I don't want to give away much about this wonderful dark comedy/drama/thriller.
There is a lot going on in this film, it has some great comedy moments, whilst having a monster end game.
I can't recommend this film highly enough, it was a rollercoaster ride, a damn fine one at that. Loved this, 5 Stars, sensational, Event Cinemas, Hoyts, Palace, Dendy I want some more Korean films on our screens ASAP if not beforehand!
