#COVID-19-BINGE-FEST - Toy Boy

#COVID-19-BINGE-FEST continues to grow with Toy Boy.

My latest Spanish drama is Toy Boy, on Wikipedia the opening line of the plot really sets the show up for you. Hugo Beltrán (Jesús Mosquera) is a young, handsome and carefree stripper.

However this carefree (100% handsome) stripper seems to be surrounded by murder and lies. María Pedraza (Elite, Money Heist) also stars as Triana Marín, his second love interest after Cristina Castaño as Macarena Medina de Solís.

The show is at times bat shit crazy but the handsome cast make it a lot of fun.



All the strippers are good looking in their own way, it reminded me a bit of Magic Mike if old mate Channing Tatum was Spanish. Unfortunately for Toy boy, Channing is a much better dancer.

Some of the worst parts of Toy Boy are the choreography.

The plot is bat shit crazy and the weird relationship between Jairo and Andrea is just damn weird and long winded.

Toy Boy could have done better by some fancy editing with episodes all clocking in at over one hour! So yeah it's over 13 (maybe 15) hours of stripping, murder and deception.

Despite this Toy Boy is fun and mostly easy (on the eye) viewing.

It's on Netflix now.

DC's Stargirl Renewed...

DC's Stargirl Renewed for Season 2, Which Will Be Exclusive to The CW. Let's hope the production values don't go out the window like another female super hero series. I'm looking at you Supergirl. Season one, CBS, season two onwards, The CW, production, writing went to hell in a hand basket.

Unlike poor Katy Keene which got the flick (which was no surprise) Stargirl has been a runaway success.

The CW has a super stacked 2020-2021 line up with most favourite shows returning in January (maybe) 2021. Here are just the shows I watch...

All American
Batwoman (Less Ruby Rose)
Black Lightning
DC's Stargirl
Dynasty (switching to Summer 2021 AKA June/July)
The Flash
Legends of Tomorrow (switching to Summer 2021 AKA June/July)
Riverdale
Supergirl (switching to Summer 2021 AKA June/July - Supergirl is having a baby!)

With a number of the shows coming back June/July it leaves a rather bare Oct-Dec lineup and a fairly different Jan-May lineup.

Dynasty has always struggled but been a hit on Netflix (internationally) whilst Legends of Tomorrow was never as popular as other DC shows and Supergirl has been on a downward spiral for a while now.

I recently caught both seasons as a binge of All American which joining Dynasty is the only non comic book show I watch on The CW. Another new comic book/DC story is on the way with Superman & Lois coming in 2021.

In a few short weeks The CW will also farewell The 100 which is tipped to have a prequel season coming.... one day. Also an Arrow spin off was on the cards, however as The CW is fairly stacked these may have to wait till COVID passes.

Let's hope filming starts again soon or it will be a very dull 2020-2021 TV season.

#COVID-19-BINGE-FEST - The Last Dance (miniseries)

Wow the #COVID-19-BINGE-FEST list is getting SO long!

The Last Dance (miniseries) is my latest binge. Like I say often, this is an easy watch, back to a much simpler time, the late 90's.

In the 90's I was lucky to go to a couple of NBA games myself. An Orlando Magic game with Shaq and my favourite team the Seattle Supersonics with the legendary Shawn Kemp and Gary Payton.

There is nothing like an NBA game, the atmosphere, the high level skill factor, the fans, it's insane. I have done a few NBL games in Australia and it has nothing on those two NBA games I attended.

I like most school kids in the 90's loved basketball cards, was interested in the mainly USA dominated sport and even played at my local Terrigal courts.



The Last Dance is a compelling look at one of the greatest sports clubs ever. The Chicago Bulls had way better leads than most 2020 network dramas. Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen and Denis Rodman. Rodman alone is intriguing enough to watch this series.

I found this to be the easiest watch of all time. The show when it aired on ESPN in America, it tied with hit NBC series This is Us for the fifth most watched show the past USA TV season.

This is a must watch for sports fans. Ditch the dodgy NRL, this is what real champions look like.

Also my wish list of shows still pending decision to see if they are cancelled or NOT.

Love, Victor (Hulu) - come on guys this was such a sweet, beautiful series. Hulu have just renewed The Great, so hopefully they are going through their titles one by one now.

Billions (Showtime, STAN in Australia) - STAN needs this, it's like its biggest title. Not to mention this could be Showtime's biggest title right now with Homeland done and dusted.

Black Monday (Showtime, STAN in Australia) - With amazing one liners, this needs a third season. Short, sharp, witty 30 minute comedies are in need right about now.

The Chi  (Showtime, N/A in Australia) - The third season has started strong. With great characters and the beautiful Jacob Latimore. We need more Chicago on our screens.

Penny Dreadful: City of Angels (Showtime, STAN in Australia) - Not sure if this was a mini-series or not, but I feel we need more/never got answers to everything in season's one's bloodbath.

High Fidelity (Hulu/ABC iView in Australia) - Zoe Kravitz is on fire. Big Little Lies was a monster smash, so it's no surprise Kravitz has a cult following with her new series High Fidelity. Fans of the original movie may also want this back for a second run.

Toy Boy (Netflix) - Do I need a reason? Watch the trailer. Magic Mike x hot Spanish dudes.

Stargirl (DC) - This is BY FAR the best DC series airing in the USA on THE CW. Leaps and bounds production wise ahead of The Flash, Supergirl, etc etc... Stargirl is actually a refreshing superhero series.

May/June La Première - Yellowstone (Season Three)

The Paramount hit series Yellowstone is back for season three.



Launching late June to a very healthy crowd. Almost two million (live) more viewers than the season two opener.

Kevin Costner and his three kids are back. Yes it's all in the family at Yellowstone. Following a dramatic second season, the third season is shaping up to have more drama and deception than ever.

Already renewed for a fourth season (to hopefully air in 2021) the show has room to move with the security of a fourth season already in the bag.

The writing room would be home to have time to plan the Montana families next moves. Joining season three's cast Josh Holloway as Roarke Carter and Q'orianka Kilcher as Angela Blue Thunder.

Following Neal McDonough as Malcolm Beck and Michaela Conlin as Sarah Nguyen departures (no spoilers) there was some space on the roster.

I heard rumours the show was resting its third episode for a USA holiday weekend however some sites say it's on this weekend. Either way you can find it weekly Monday evenings on Stan. A good little win for Stan now that Penny Dreadful is finished and they didn't seem interested in screening the brilliant Showtime series The Chi.

#COVID-19-BINGE-FEST - Yellowstone (Season 1 + 2)

With season three commencing late last month, I decided to dive into the deep end and binge both seasons 1 + 2 of Yellowstone. So now I am ready for the current third season.


The Kevin Costner lead drama airs in Australia on local streaming service Stan. Already renewed for a fourth season the Western based in Montana, filmed in Utah (as well as parts of Montana) revolves around the Dutton family.

John, Kayce, Beth and Jamie are all very different, but damn interesting to watch. The series is gritty and an easy watch. I am now already up to date with the two episodes of the third season.

It is great to have another weekly show on my roster with Hightown, Black Monday both ending soon, whilst Billions is on a longer break.

The show is a ratings blockbuster for the Paramount Network. This seasons opener along with encore plays gained close to five million viewers.

If you want something different along with some beautiful mountains and foul language this could be for you. The Dutton family drama is going to be on our screens for a while to come I think.
