October TV Finales - Billions - Season Five

Billions is returning way sooner than we could have imagined! The sixth season and is set to premiere on January 23, 2022. While other Showtime titles will move to Paramount Plus in Australia, Billions is staying put on Stan.

Spoiler alert the sixth series, will not see the return of lead, Bobby Axelrod (Damian Lewis). Like in his major departure from former Showtime hit series, Homeland, Lewis has bailed possibly making the sixth season the final season.

Chuck Rhoades (Paul Giamatti),Wendy Rhoades (Maggie Siff), Taylor Mason (Asia Kate Dillon), Mike "Wags" Wagner (David Costabile) along with Corey Stoll as Michael Thomas Aquinius Prince continuing as Axe's obvious replacement.

The trailer is already all over the internet, series six is a matter of months away following a very spilt fifth season.

The addition of Corey Stoll was fine, however he may not have the same billing as Lewis. The fifth season had multiple twists and turns, had a slight mention of COVID, while continuing the greedy money play of some of the most vile characters on premium cable TV.

I enjoyed season five (despite the year long gap in between the season) however I feel the show (like many others) has run it's course. Showtime will be desperate the reboot of Dexter (New Blood) is a hit. The station was snubbed at this years Emmy's whilst its upcoming series are not the strongest.

Showtime is clearly missing a series like Homeland or OG Dexter to draw in crowds and critics. It's a tough game getting eyeballs right now. There has never been so much on offer. Speaking of guess who finally got into Squid Game?
