NAME & SHAMELESS

The BIG First edition of the BLOG simply titled NAME & SHAME.

No it has been an amazing few weeks of shows, theatre, travel, award ceremonies and a few too many beverages late Monday night, early Tuesday morning.

I will start all the back with my wonderful trip to the second most beautiful city in Australia, Melbourne. However it is becoming one of my favourites very quickly!

I had a great flight down on the old Aussie icon Qantas. I arrived in the lovely Melbourne town after a great trip with the sexy boys from Melbourne Storm on my plane! I was very jealous that they just got the chance to be up close and personal with Craig Wing the night before. And that was the beginning of the mighty Roosters return to form. I proceeded to get one of the Melbourne Storm to autograph my fab Pauline Hanson "Untamed & Unashamed"
novel. I think Jeremy Smith who signed the novel was rather excited to sign such an important tale of a simple Aussie slapper who believes Australia should be a white nation, thank god she is one of the only people with this dream or otherwise I would be seeking a lot of sex off shore!

I had a lovely shop around Melbourne town and the headed to Phantom of the Opera opening night with the wonderful Anthony Warlow! The show was beautiful visually and the costumes challenged Priscilla's amazing frocks!

The after party was a bit of a disaster, but they did have a great buffet!

I saw Menopause the Musical (which I feel today writing this very flippin'
hung over, I am experiencing. I'm hot, I'm cold, I'm off to the dunny, I'm off again...) which was amazing! A great laugh! I will do another full review after I see the 1400th performance at Sydney's Theatre Royale, on September 30th, thanks for the invite Sue!

I then had a peek at the Pixar exhibition at Fed Square, a great look into the genius behind Toy Story, The Incredibles and a string of other animated films and short films.

I unfortunately left Melbourne after much delay at the old airport, to head back to my hometown Sunny Sydney, isn't the weather FAB right now!

I got straight back in concert mode Monday night for some Gwen Stefani action! What a flippin' awesome performance!

She started the set off with one of my top 20 singles of 2007 so far "Sweet Escape", I don't know why but I just love this song so much and never seem to tire of it! She then belted out hit after hit after hit! Considering this bird only has two solo albums, she has quite a few crowd pleasers under her belt! The concert overall was simply amazing and definitely one of the best gigs I've ever attending.

Wednesday night I set off to the Editors at the Metro, now I haven't been to this venue for a while and my gosh do I like it! The Editors performed to a very full room of happy punters. They ran through all the motions very well and performed a very entertaining set until the encore. What is it about encores, they are not special anymore another Anthony Callea (see below), Damian Leith & Shannon Noll can do an encore. I would far prefer bands to just string all the hits together for one long set rather than smoking a bucket bong out the back then singing two or worse still one hit single. I wage war on the Encore, just because three girls with zits the size of postage stamps are screaming out the front it doesn't mean you have to come back out.

I then had a few nights of peace and quite before the Sunday matinee show of Anthony Callea. What a weird audience, there were nanas with frames, 5 year olds who obviously had retarded parents as they were wearing a bright pink top, pink shoes and brown slacks & the very loud and proud gay fan base! I have never heard so many screaming queers! There were bug eyed fairies everywhere! Mind you, you had to be bug eyed to see the sexy little fella!
He also did a flippin' encore & camp costume change. The highlight was the old ladies in front of me who clearly though he was the hottest thing since sliced bead, actually so do I so my worst fear is coming true, I'm turning into an old lady. At least grandma (RIP) would be proud! Thanks Emma for saving me a poster and not giving it to the big girl fans who asked me whilst I was working at Priscilla!

Now a Monday night should never be a night for a bender especially when I have been battling the Sydney Winter Flu since July 1999. But the Helpmann awards after party was only one thing WRONG! The hot trade in the room (including Mr Callea & Husband (imagine a carbon copy of him + 20 years! Not a good look!) and free flowing piss!

Now back to the ceremony for some of the musical highlights, Iota did a FAB number from Hedwig & the Angry Inch, The Engineer did a great "American Dream" rendition on the stage of the capitol Theatre, Sydney, the opening number I just wanna Fucking Dance was hot with some of the lovely NIDA team in there! (HI SAMANTHA!) and the Priscilla cast finished off the evening with there medley of hit's that concludes the years biggest box office smash!

The after party at the Sydney Entertainment Centre was great, piss galore, food and trade as mentioned above! The after after party at the Oxford Hotel on Sydney's premier queer strip Oxford Street was WRONG! The patrons who were already there didn't know what hot them when the cast of Priscilla and other randoms such as myself continued to piss it up the wall (not Sonny Bill style! PS Sonny if you need some help paying your newest speeding fine, I'm sure we can work something out!) until the wee hours.

Tune in soon on the BLOG for more updates including reviews of Menopause the Musical and much more.

My five favourite PUMP IT UP tunes it's a Monday night piss up:

1. Gwen Stefani - Now that You’ve Got It
2. Operator Please - Just a song about Ping Pong
3. Patience Hodgson - Lee Remick (Go-Betweens cover)
4. Ben Lee - What Would Jay-Z Do/Sex Without Love
5. Katie Noonan - Time to Begin REMIX

Toodles x
