Bad Sisters is the Irish black comedy series that received twelve nominations at the 19th Irish Film & Television Awards, winning four including Best Drama, and received the British Academy Television Award for Best Drama Series at the 2023 BAFTA Awards alongside two additional wins.
Set in Dublin and filmed on location in Ireland, the second season returned mid-November. Concluding at lunchtime yesterday on Apple TV+. Slightly earlier than its usual regular Wednesday streaming. The series has streamed alongside fellow popular Apple TV+ title Shrinking this time. The two shows have made a good pairing mid-week, giving viewers double the comedy fun.
Apple TV+ has really excelled this year with returning titles continuing in good form, a run of big name new shows and giving viewers advance warnings of upcoming ending series, like Silo. Recently renewed for a third, then fourth, final season.
So where does Bad Sisters pick up after a big of an absence on our screens?
Viewers return to the sisters, two years after the death of John Paul, Grace is about to marry Ian, Ursula has divorced, and Bibi and her wife are trying for another child.
The wedding festivities are overshadowed by Roger, who is tormented with guilt and harbours unreciprocated feelings for Grace, as well as the arrival of Roger's sister Angelica.
The remains of JP's father are discovered in a suitcase submerged in a pond, prompting a renewed police investigation into the Williams family's affairs.
Roger tells Grace that he wants to go to the police, causing her to panic. Grace tells Ian about how John Paul died. The next morning, Blanaid runs to Eva's house to tell them that Ian is gone and Grace can't stop crying.
