July TV Finales - Kung Fu - Season One

Kung Fu is one of the newest series on The CW. In Australia it airs on Binge. This is an adaptation of the 1970s series.

Mid way through the first season, the series was renewed for a second season.

Set in the present day, the series follows a young Chinese American woman whose personal issues force her to leave college and make a life-changing journey to an isolated monastery in China. Upon her return to America three years later, she starts using her martial arts skills and Shaolin values to protect her community when her hometown of San Francisco is plagued by ongoing crime and corruption, especially those being threatened by the Triad, all while dealing with her estranged family and searching for the assassin who killed her Shaolin mentor and is now targeting her.

Starring a very handsome Eddie Liu as Henry Yan alongside Tzi Ma and Kheng Hua Tan as Jin Shen and Mei-Li, Jon Prasida (also handsome AF) as Ryan Shen, Shannon Dang as Althea Shen & Olivia Liang as Nicky, the lead.

I enjoyed all 13 episodes of the debut season. It started strong however did not overstay its welcome too much only playing for 13 episodes in place of some of these other CW shows with their bloated 22 episode runs.

So if you are looking for a little action (with a side of CW style drama) this lockdown, Kung Fu might be for you. I should have another HBO Max original for you next as part of our July TV Finales blog series.

Until then, its another weekend of binge TV and Les Mills On Demand.
