Stay in da House Cinema 2023 - Totally Killer

The latest Sabrina (Kiernan Shipka) stars in Totally Killer. A black comedy slasher film directed by Nahnatchka Khan.

Totally Killer premiered at Fantastic Fest late September, whilst streaming on Amazon Prime Video on last Friday night!

Produced by horror king Jason Blum, under his Blumhouse Television banner, alongside Shipka, Olivia Holt, Julie Bowen, and Randall Park star.

Yes Randall FUCKING Park!

Totally Killer follows Jamie (Shipka) who, after her mother’s friends are murdered by the Sweet Sixteen Killer on Halloween, travels back in time to 1987 where she pairs up with her mom to stop the young would-be-killer and get back to her timeline before she's trapped in the past forever.

Filming took place in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia. With the Aussie dollar plunging, maybe more series, films will be filmed down under? Just saying. Well once the actors strike is done and dusted.

So is Totally Killer any good?

Well yes and no. It has serious midday movie vibes. Like major midday movie vibes. Sort of the show before Who Wants to Be a Millionaire that pensioners would write into Channel Nine asking WTF did I just watch?

Randall Park must have had some time in his usually busy schedule or maybe it was due to director Nahnatchka Khan previously working on Fresh Off the Boat (2015–2020), and 2019 Netflix film Always Be My Maybe.

Look it had some fun slasher vibes, some super woke Sabrina lines as she headed back to the less woke 80's.

I enjoyed it, but did have the second half on in the background while doing the washing and dishwashing.

2.5 just passable stars. 2023 really needs to serve up a few more 4 or even 5 star films. Is The Dry 2 heading for a release soon Mr Eric Bana???
