Ghosts now has an Aussie version on Network 10 & Paramount+ from the original British series of the same name. The USA have made a version for CBS (also streaming on Paramount+) so it would be rude for Paramount+ not to create a local version.
They are collecting subscription fees off Aussies after all. Thanks Jacqui Lambie too, for forcing the government of the day to get back on track for creating quotas for local content to be created, right here, right now. Australian stories from Netflix, Apple TV, Paramount+, Prime and more. Now get to it streamers.
The Australian version debuted two episodes on Network Ten on Sunday. All episodes, however landed on Paramount+ Sunday. Kinda like what ABC and iView do.
So what's Ghosts all about?
When city couple Kate and Sean inherit Ramshead Manor, a rundown country estate, they see it as a sign for a fresh new start. However, after Kate suffers from a near-death experience, she begins to see that the mansion is occupied by ghosts and now must navigate the issues of the ghosts while trying to maintain her normal life with Sean who unfortunately cannot see or hear the ghosts himself.
Last year, an Australian adaptation was first announced for Network 10 and Paramount+ during the network's annual upfronts event. This Thursday ahead of Big Brother returning to Channel Ten, the network (hopefully along with Paramount content) will announce their 2026 schedule.
It'll be too soon for Ghosts for Ghosts to get a second run, but I have my figures crossed for news on whether we will ever get a third season of Last King of the Cross and what drama will replace Neighbours now its actually finishing for good. This time, for good!
Eight episodes were announced to be filmed in Perth, and the ghost characters included publican and Irish Great Famine survivor Eileen, naval officer Gideon, early 20th century socialite Miranda, 1980s aerobics instructor Lindy, Chinese-born Australian Gold Rush miner Joon, and 1990s motorbike gang-member "Satan".
The living characters are played by Tamala Shelton and Rowan Witt. The ghosts are played by Rhonda, I mean Mandy McElhinney, Brent Hill, Ines English, Michelle Brasier, the handsome pant less George Zhao & Jackson Tozer.
So after not watching the UK series or the American version, is the Aussie one worth diving into? Check out my thoughts below the trailer.
