Scorchin' Summer Streamin' 25 - Murdaugh: Death in the Family - Miniseries

Murdaugh: Death in the Family is another true crime miniseries created by Michael D. Fuller and Erin Lee Carr for Hulu/Disney+.

Starring Aussie Jason Clarke as Alex Murdaugh, Patricia Arquette as Maggie Murdaugh, J. Smith-Cameron, Johnny Berchtold, & Brittany Snow.

Based on the Murdaugh Murders Podcast by Mandy Matney, who investigated and blogged about the unfolding case of Alex Murdaugh, who was accused of the murders of his wife, Maggie, and their son, Paul, on June 7, 2021; she is played by Brittany Snow in the series.

The series depicts the events leading up to the double murder. Which sometimes feels extremely bloated. If this was made in the UK, this would have straight up been four episodes. Instead the USA gave us eight, long, drawn out episodes.

That said the second half of the run is way better than the first four episodes.

So who are the Murdaugh's? I'd personally never heard this story. Maggie and Alex enjoy a lavish life of privilege as members of one of South Carolina's most powerful legal dynasties. But when their son Paul is involved in a deadly boat crash, the family is faced with a test unlike any they've ever encountered.

As details come to light and new challenges emerge, the family's connections to several mysterious deaths raise questions which threaten everything Maggie and Alex hold dear.

Hulu on Disney+ has had loads of quality content of late. They are streaming the most talked about series, All's Fair right now, Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is back, while me and the parents actually enjoyed the 2025 remake of the classic, The Hand That Rocks the Cradle.

So Hulu is punching above their weight right now on the Disney+ app. While this might not be the best title I've seen for a while, it was an interesting watch.

Hopefully over the weekend, I'll get of to see the final instalment in the Wicked film saga. Have a good weekend!
