What's On @ the Movies 2013 - Side Effects
Now an idea of a Wednesday later afternoon/early evening movie is divine to me, so in saying that Side Effects was a divine well acted and interesting film. This week I have now seen two intelligent and thought provoking thrillers, which is a genre I love but seems to be largely ignored in 2013. A good thriller is hard to find in between the blockbusters, the rom coms, the gross out comedies and the sequels.
So Side Effects struck a chord with me and the acting is sublime, Jude Law is excellent, Catherine Zeta-Jones stunning, Channing Tatum for me does nothing but in roles like this he actually can act, even though a role in Gi-Joe seems to be more comfortable and Rooney Mara is just superb in the leading lady role.
The film has some great twists and turns and by the end I was a little confused with how it all went down but in the end I was left thinking which is something you rarely do after leaving the cinema in 2013, the only thing I was thinking after watching A Good Day to Die Hard was WHY???
This film has sort of slipped under the radar in this country so if there are still screenings this weekend go check this out. Side Effects rates a solid pill popping 4 stars.
