Silver Screen in 2017 {The Beguiled}

Not to be confused with the 1971 film, this is the 2017 Sofia Coppola film, starring Aussie lady of the moment Nicole Kidman.

After stunning TV audiences with Big Little Lies and giving Australia one of the biggest and most talked about true story films of 2017, Lion. It's been a good year for Nicole.

In other news Kirsten Dunst was a vile white lady in Hidden Figures and had a very small role against the trio of pioneers in that film. However Coppola seems to like Dunst and she plays a pivotal role in this gothic looking, sensationally filmed movie.

It looks a million bucks, the costumes are heaven and Colin Farrell is rather handsome as the one and only male lead.

Is this one of the best films of 2017? No not by far, and it is a little long and slow in parts and that being said it's a 94 minute film.

The slow pacing in the first half makes the conclusion a bit of an anti climax.

These negatives aside, this is one of the most beautiful films of 2017 and it continues Kidman's return to form in my books. It's not perfect but it sure would beat Transformers. 3 Stars.
