January La Première - Prodigal Son (Season Two)

Prodigal Son was one of those shows I gave a when everything was shut last year. No gyms, no eating out basically no being social, sad.

In May 2020, the series was renewed for a second season which premiered on January 12, 2021. The first season was an early ratings smash. The show returned to a slightly smaller audience, however Prodigal Son was still an intriguing as ever.

Tom Payne (The Walking Dead) stars as Malcolm Bright whilst Lou Diamond Phillips, Michael Sheen, Halston Sage, Bellamy Young and Keiko Agena also star.

Catherine Zeta-Jones, Christian Borle and Michael Potts also join as new stars in the psychological thriller by DC Comic star producer Greg Berlanti.

Episode one had a lot to cover following its abrupt season one finale. Originally season one was set out to be 22 episodes (Berlanti loves a long drawn out series on US network TV) but due to COVID-19 (happy birthday by the way COVID-19, we have been living with this shit for over 12 months now) the last two episodes were never filmed.

The show isn't your usual cop procedural show as the difference between "good guys" and "bad guys" is tough to identify.

Prodigal Son isn't perfect but I am interested in the direction it will take with season two. I am also excited to see Catherine Zeta-Jones on the small screen.

Prodigal Son will air again on Binge/Foxtel.
