Get Outta da House Cinema 2023 - Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One

Tom Cruise was recently called the man who saved the box office with the recent Top Gun film. Now Cruise returns for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One.

This is the sequel to Mission: Impossible – Fallout (2018), while being the seventh instalment in the Mission: Impossible film series.

Dead Reckoning Part One (almost three hours long!) sees Tom Cruise return as Ethan Hunt, whose IMF team matches wits with a powerful rogue AI known as "the Entity".

Alongside Cruise in this jam packed action film, Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, Esai Morales, Pom Klementieff, Mariela Garriga, and Henry Czerny all star.

The estimated budget for this film is $291 million, making it, one of the most expensive films ever made. While the most expensive in the franchise.

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One is the latest film by Paramount Pictures. The film received widespread critical acclaim and has grossed $122 million worldwide. Still a few million against Barbie to make budget yet!

When will the  direct sequel, Dead Reckoning Part Two be released you ask? Despite the current strike, the release date is currently set for June 28, 2024. So not that long to wait now. 11 months and counting!

Until then, my verdict? Well you know, this was big budget, high energy action. Done by the numbers, but done well. There are several completely amazing scenes including the finale on the train, mixed with a blown up bridge.

The airport scene is particularly amazing too.

Honestly the whole big budget, big action film delivers on all accounts. I was grateful my bladder behaved itself allowing me to watch the whole film uninterrupted.

This does need to be seen at the cinema. Mainly for those big action sequences. It comes against heavy competition this Thursday at the box office with the pink marketing machine in overdrive for Barbie. While Oppenheimer (another three hour Christopher Nolan epic) also lands this Thursday.

Cinema is back baby! Well for now, depending on how the strike pans out! Until then Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One is a hit. 3.5 Stars.
