Winter Watchlist Warmers - The Betoota Advocate Presents - Season One

The Betoota Advocate delivers some of the best social media posts around. The four part Paramount+ series also delivers.

Tackling the rise and fall of the Hillsong Church, the Rugby League VS the Super League, the Cronulla Riots, and the Fine Cotton scandal. Some real interesting topics.

From brainwashing to scandals, there is some fun to be had here.

So thank you Channel 10/CBS/Paramount+ for delivering something local and different. Very different.

Akubra-wearing editors Clancy Overell and Errol Parker (Archer Hamilton and Charles Single) host the show, think a more upmarket ACA following the publication being labelled an outback media heavyweight, as well as Australia’s oldest and most trusted newspaper. If you have ever read the Daily Telegraph, the Betoota Advocate actually is a load more factually correct.

I enjoyed this series week to week on Wednesday's. Four episodes however was just not enough.

I really hope like previous local Paramount+ title, Five Bedrooms, this gets a renewal. There has been loads of hype, so fingers crossed the regional newspaper lands a second run.

I have to say Paramount+ has really delivered on local content of late. With North Shore not being great, the latest Australian/UK co-pro Riptide is a vast improvement. That streams weekly now.

I mentioned Five Bedrooms, 6 Festivals was a cute teen movie, while I still wait to hear if there will be second seasons of More Than This and Spreadsheet. While Last King of the Cross has just been given a second season.

So if you need a new streaming service now that interest rates are on hold Paramount+ really delivers if you like Australian content.
