Stay in da House Cinema 2023 - Run Rabbit Run

Run Rabbit Run is the latest Australian content to appearing on a streaming service. This almost 2 hour local horror film is streaming now on Netflix.

Directed by Daina Reid, written by Hannah Kent, while starring Succession's own Sarah Snook.

Now Succession has concluded it's time for Snook to land some new roles. Alongside Sarah (who also plays a Sarah in this film) Run Rabbit Run stars Lily LaTorre, Damon Herriman and Greta Scacchi.

Premiering at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, it landed on Netflix last week.

The basic plot for the local horror film is, Snook, a fertility doctor notices strange behaviour in her own child. Wearing a creepy rabbit mask along with finding a random rabbit at their family home for her seventh birthday.

The same age Sarah's sister vanished at their remote home.

With some random flashbacks, we piece together the mystery of Sarah's missing sister while her estranged mother Joan's health deteriorates in an aged care facility.

Elisabeth Moss was originally attached to the film, having previously worked with Reid on The Handmaid's Tale. However in December 2021, Snook was announced as on board the project after Moss had to pull out due to scheduling issues.

Don't be turned off by the Rotten Tomatoes approval rating of 37%. Snook does a solid job, I did jump at least three times, so the horror factor was there.

If you are already missing Shiv Roy on your TV, Netflix may very well have the medicine you require. This isn't a perfect film, however it looks grand.

3 Stars.
