The Masked Cinema 2022 - The Drover’s Wife The Legend of Molly Johnson

The Drover’s Wife The Legend of Molly Johnson makes it to the big screen, following a stage adaption of Leah Purcell’s acclaimed play based on Henry Lawson’s classic short story.

Starring Sam Reid, Jessica De Gouw, Rob Collins, Leah Purcell, Malachi Dower-Roberts. Purcell shown in Wentworth, now she shows true grit in the latest Australian big screen moment.

A searing Australian western thriller asking the question: how far do you go to protect your loved ones?

It's brutal, it's tough viewing at time whilst also showcasing the beauty of the Australian bush. Regional Australia has never looked so dark and light all at once in this feature film.

The Drovers Wife opened at the start of the month, however only just opened at my local Hoyts. Thanks for screening it Hoyts, however it maybe should have opened when it was scheduled to. My screening was poorly attended however Sydney's rain continues for the 19th month in a row. No summer, now no Autumn.
