Album of the Year Nomination #6 - FLUME - Flume

Good on you Flume, from Sydney and bringing us an awesome electronic album for 2012 and the final album of the year nomination for 2012. This takes us to 6 big nominations, 3 Aussies and 3 internationals. The winner will be unveiled on Boxing Day and I am so up in the air as to who will take the big award.

Flume has really risen and risen from his Triple J Unearthed beginnings to big tours, to “Holdin On” being a big radio smash. “Sleepless” was where we first heard his production skills and the guests lined up for his debut album Chet Faker, Moon Holiday and Jezzabell Doran & George Maple. My highlights from the album “Sintra” is definitely a killer opener, “Holdin On” the single amazing, “On Top” so awesome with a rap by T Shirt & “Sleepless” so EPIC!

Hope you have been enjoying Flume’s debut as much as I have since its release on the 9th of November, it’s been on my IPOD on a very regular basis. And BTW he is like only 20 and just super talent, am I jealous much, hell to the yes!

A big sorry to the below albums that missed the cut for a nomination this year and a brief reason why:

Tame Impala – Lonerism, WHY – I probably have not been smoking enough

The Presets – Pacifica, WHY – one word “Ghosts” WTF???

Lana Del Ray – Born to Die, WHY – Oh so close but the drama, the SNL performance, the whole first album cover up, not a winner in my book.

he Temper Trap – Self Titled, WHY – The second album is said to be difficult and this is proof of that.

Mumford & Sons – Babel, WHY – This one trick pony needs some new tricks, fast...

Pink – The Truth About Love, WHY – The truth is Pink, your RnB days were way better than this lame pop rock rubbish, sorry honey you may be able to put on an ace live show but by the looks of the sales for the recent album your fan base is even getting bored.
