Enemy of Average PART ONE - Ministry Of Sound The Annual 2013

I used to rush out to my local HMV in my younger dancing years and hop straight to buying the years annual compilation.  Now things have changed (and not for the better) this years annual (pictured below) is my first target in my new series "Enemy of Average".

In the old days these compilations featured cutting edge new songs, dance floor fillers and now, well let's run through some of this (2013's) years selections:

Rita Ora feat. Tinie Tempah - RIP (Gregor Salto Remix) - This woman was a very average judge on the UK X Factor this year and her average persona shines through on this really ordinary song that even in remix form is still horrid.

Far East Movement feat. Cover Drive - Turn Up The Love - This compilation used to feature the cream of the crop top 40 dance and this is nowhere near cream nor crop, it's a word similar to crop, CRAP!

Will.i.am feat. Eva Simons - This Is Love (Afrojack Remix) - This is Will.i.am at his worst, it's also old and his new tune "Scream & Shout" featuring that killer Britney line in it.  At least that would have been a current selection, on that note Florence's "Sweet Nothing" is left high and dry for the over played "Spectrum" remix by Calvin Harris.  Example's lazy effort "Say Nothing" is a very ordinary addition as is the Presets worst effort "Ghosts", god that song is horrible.

On the other hand Ministry Of Sound's Chillout Sessions Xv is spectacular, for any true music fans this is a must it's truly sublime.

So someone @ Ministry Of Sound has an ear for good tunes it's just a shame the annual has really gone down hill over the years.

So on that note let's listen to some classic dance songs that have withstood the test of time:

That's it for now, see you again over the weekend, it's Legally Blonde tomorrow and hopefully a film or two before Christmas!
