Well the musical closes in a few months opening the doors for High School the Musical, and I thought I had to give this show another chance.
I actually could only last the first half with young Genvieve Lemon out of action for the Saturday matinee I just couldn't bare her understudy.
The three main points about this musical I can't bear are:
1. Not all movies can translate into a wonderful musical
2. Elton John is definitely not the world's best songwriter
3. Children in shows rarely works (except Tam in Miss Saigon)
The show does however impress with a slick set, great costumes and a fairly good cast, however the show just never really draws me in.
Overall the first half of Billy Elliot: The Musical rates a low 1 star.
