Reaction - Triple J's Hottest 100 of the Last 20 Years {Part One}

So a few people have said Triple J's Hottest 100's are becoming more regular than a group of girl scouts periods, the best part of this countdown has been the flashback countdown's daily. Ditching some of the  recent releases for old school gold. And yesterday (Saturday) saw part one of this countdown. I missed the broadcast due to enjoying some Star Trek action but all the tunes played yesterday were predictable (not that that's a bad thing) but what will 50-1 bring?

Anyway here is a summary of what I thought thus far....

A great opening with the Beastie Boys @ 100 (R.I.P Adam Yauch AKAMCA) with one of my favourites from 1998 "Intergalactic" a modern songbird @ 99 with some lovely Lana Del Rey. Jebediah made two hits in the 90's both from Slightly Odway, a great result from the WA indie Aussie pioneers.

The 90's also saw hits from Ben Lee (I think I voted for that tune), Soundgarden, M.I.A and modern folk team Of Monsters & Men.

The 80's saw a real mix from Kanye West to Pulp, Angus & Julia Stone (their #1 hit from 2010) to Coolio. It was a great mix of music and years. The Aussie acts including Something for Kate continued to chart and show they have all aged well.

The 70's saw everyone from Reguritator (their massive party starting tune !SFKA) to Silverchair (with their second number in the countdown already), Gorillaz to Wolfmother and some Wombats and The Killers. A real mix of rock, hip hop and dance with the Presets floor stomper "My People" killing it @ 77.

Eminem got the coveted 69 spot with the massive soundtrack single "Lose Yourself", Jet & Spiderbait had their #1 hits from previous years in the 60's and MGMT made it two hits thus far to make the countdown.

The 50's and final songs for the day saw more Daft Punk (band of the moment, shame the album does not live up to the hype) & Gorillaz. Really happy to see The Dandy Warhols leave the day @ 51 with "Bohemian like You" a great hit and it really deserves this recognition. I will be really interested to see what comes out on top tomorrow.
