Secret City - the next winning Australian Drama

When I have blogged for months (maybe years) that Australian TV is in the toilet, Foxtel has listened. Wentworth has returned with an EPIC fourth season delivering more brilliant strong female roles than any previous Aussie drama I can remember and now Secret City is killing it on Foxtel.

This Foxtel drama had it's debut on the weekend with one third of it's six run airing. Anna Torv (multi award winning Aussie actresses for her work on Fringe) is the lead and has an impressive all star cast behind her.

Jackie Weaver, Alex Dimitriades, Alan Dale, Marcus Graham, Miranda Tapsell (soon to also appear on Love Child) and Damon Herriman as Kim Gordon.

It's brilliantly set in the nations capital and could be an answer to the House of Cards political drama obsession. Foxtel has really got the Australian drama market by the balls and no sign of Rebecca Gibney anywhere, heaven.

Apparently around 80,000 folks tuned in for the first instalment, a far cry from the Masterchefs or The Voice but still an impressive start for drama on a paid service.

Cleverman has a beautiful cast and story behind it too and I believe this is being well received with a second series already ordered.

Thank god for Foxtel and these brilliant dramas filling a void for anyone with a brain.
