That Movie Gay #2016

Where does one begin with the third X-Men film X-MEN: APOCALYPSE. The cast is a good start, it's brilliant, vast and a lot of talent in this one franchise film, but is a good cast and two good movies in the series all it takes to make a third solid film? No, not on your nelly.

X-Men: Apocalypse has had some shocking reviews and a totally different reception than the past couple of movies.

Look the action is sublime and the regular message of the X-Men series is there and even Hugh Jackman's hugely popular character has a very quick romp. But on a wet Sydney Saturday is this the best film to take in, this crowded movie week?

Maybe not I enjoyed The Nice Guys a little more last night and I have a funny feeling tomorrow I am going to have a ball at Money Monster so to me the third film in the rebooted series may not be the best in the superhero genre.

Deadpool (an X-Men spinoff) was so refreshing as it took the superhero genre, added sexy stuff, swear words and more graphic cartoon stylised violence. The problem with Marvel and DC releasing a superhero film a month you need a point and difference and this is void of one.

It lacks difference and just stays on the safe ground of a great ensemble and their individual strengths.

Look it's not all bad, it is funny and there is some references to the genre and the third film not being the best in a series. All in all it's not too be taken too seriously and I basically think in a week or so I'll delete this from my memory. 2.5 Stars.
